We flew Jet-2 and the on-site rep Halil was almost an ever-present, and a huge thank-you to him from us.
Being familiar with the hotel, the check-in was very straight-forward, and our 7th floor Standard Room (1751) was overlooking the main entrance, which we discovered was an absolute sun trap from about 3:30pm onward.
Knowing the room layout from before, unpacking was easy and there's ample wardrobe and drawer space for two people carrying luggage for what would be 11 nights, although the idea to have the safe positioned where it is in the wardrobe must have been agreed after a night on the Raki.
This particular room had two double beds and no complaints what so ever about the room size in general.
The mostly carpeted room was very comfortable, if a bit dated in terms of the decor, but to be honest, not a deal breaker. If you want to see the hairdryer of the style your mum may have been using in 1973, that's bolted to the bathroom wall by the sink, and I'd say the bathroom itself is perfectly fine size without trying to be over the top. The shower is again probably considered olde worlde, but we were perfectly fine with it as opposed to the now 'regulation' rainfall style head. No issues what so ever with the classic hotel hot water going cold and scalding all of a sudden, especially in the evening.
Bathroom towels were changed every day, and bedding every two days, and while we kept the room as tidy as possible, and appreciating the hotel was virtually at full capacity, there were area's in the room you could see had never seen a hoover or duster for a while. Personally, I don't think they had enough cleaning staff for a full hotel to have time to do a proper clean and tidy, so not blaming them at all really.
Air Conditioning : Very easy to have a go at the Titanic Lara for what is a very outdated setup, and to be honest, feels more like an occasional waft of cool air driven by the fan speed rather than proper chilled air, but here's the thing! We've stayed at far more luxurious hotels in the Belek area, and some the so-called modern air conditioning systems are just as useless! It's as if cool/chilled is not in the vocabulary.
I must mention we got lucky in terms of being able to spend the entire trip with barely a sound from above, below or outside the room! It was as if people had gone on a course to learn how to close heavily sprung room doors as opposed to the standard, just let it slam and to hell with anyone else! While again the trend is no carpets anywhere, I think the rooms here benefit from a carpeted bedroom area in terms of soundproofing.
The balcony is adequate enough, and as I say, from about 3:30pm was a wonderful sun trap if you're that way inclined and ideal clothes drying conditions if necessary.
Food : My observation in November was that almost all of the time, the buffet food, morning noon and night was hot, and again we've stayed at far more luxurious places who never got it right, and once again, Titanic Lara excelled here in my humble opinion.
I have read many a comment in reviews stating "The food was the same every night!", and yet those making said comments seem unable to offer-up what they think Titanic ought to be serving otherwise.
If you couldn't survive a trip here based on the huge variety on offer, be-it in the main buffet restaurant, down at the beach restaurant's or indeed the a'la carte restaurants, tell them what they ought to be doing, because I don't know what more they could do to be honest, and bearing in mind the multitude of nationalities/diets they have to cater to.
Drink : This is where the holiday companies/hotel need to have a wee word about when High Season begins! High Season is available to book from April the 1st, yet the High Season drink concept begins on the 1st of May. Anyone booking between the 1st of April to the 30th would have every right to be seriously pissed-off if the hotel is advising you when you get there, you're still on the Winter Concept in terms of drinks.
Bar staff : Wonderfully nice and attentive, however, too many way out of their depth in terms of understanding what was being asked for, and we're not talking complicated cocktails, but basically anything that wasn't "Beer".
There were two or three very notable exceptions in the Lobby Bar : Busra who was mainly on the bar was 'on it' every time, and Serda/Sevda? (forgive me), was a flying machine who basically kept the place running in terms of service to the lobby and TV room area, leaving everyone else in her wake. Great job both of you.
Entertainment : Cannot fault the Entertainment Team for effort all through the holiday, and this just based on observation of interaction with the guests and stuff going on all around.
"Show Time" : I'm not expecting the Blue Man Group, or some other Vegas spectacular, based on budgets/fierce competition, so I'm not going to say anything other than I'm sure they are doing their best, and you take it or leave it I suppose.
So, did we enjoy the overall package on offer? Absolutely! Some will say "How can they call this five star?" and then compare it to somewhere else perhaps more exotic and expensive, but I think if you go to Turkey, you should be prepared for 'five star' being quite an extensive range, and let's face it, you CAN get it horribly wrong in Turkey in terms of "All Inclusive", "All Inclusive Plus" and so-on.
The Lifts : They were hilarious to try figure out by what random method they operated when we were there in November, and that was with one out of action. This time round and with all operational, just as random, so for entertainment value, don't change a thing here!
In conclusion then : There's something about here that for all the wee bits and pieces you could point a finger at, it has so many more things going for it. It doesn't try to be up it's own backside and 'posh' and while I get it, some may want the Maxx Royal treatment, you ain't getting that here, but you know what, many many people love that and seem so utterly relaxed, which after all is what your holiday is all about.
They're clearly doing something right, as I don't think I've ever mentioned Turkey and had so many say they've stayed here at the Titanic and loved it.
A big thank you to everyone at the Titanic, and we WILL be seeing you again.
On arrival we got a lovely feeling from all staff, we were quickly checked in and our bags followed us. The room was amazing, two bouble sized beds that were so comfortable, a mini bar which was stocked daily with water, coke, Coke Zero, Efes and sparkling water. Hair dryer, dressing gowns, slippers. Tv, bath and shower. The room was cleaned everyday too.
The food was amazing, everything you could want including steak which was so tender, everything was well organised and spotless in the main dining room, as soon as you sat down you were served drinks. We didn’t try the al a Carte restaurant as it was 27 euro extra to eat there. The Christmas gala meal was also extra at 27 euro, we didn’t go for this and just ate in main restaurant.
The drinks were of good standard, I had the wine and it was a better standard than some hotels I have stayed in. You could choose from a range of cocktails using local spirits, Efes, J&B scotch whisky, hot drinks, wine or Prosecco. premium drinks such as JD were also extra.
We used the sauna and pool which were very good, indoor heated pool too. You could use steam room, sauna, ice room and whirl pools as part of your AI stay. The hotel also has a gym which looked very good. The hotel has a games room for kids, with entertainment on for little ones, a bowling alley and pool tables which were extra. We paid approx £5 for the bowling and £5 for half hour on pool tables. It was good fun!
The two bar areas were very nice, also has a cake and coffee area which looked lovely, didn’t get a chance to go in as we just ran out of time.
Outside the hotel is lots of shops and I mean lots! Not many restaurants or bars mind but many of the hotels around are AI so probs no need. All the shops we went in are priced in euro including the trips, but you can pay in English, Turkish Lira and Euro.
We really cannot fault this hotel, every staff member we came across were lovely, so helpful and friendly. We will definitely return to this hotel at some point. Thank you for a lovely stay over Christmas.
The chefs and their staff put on an amazing variety of food at all meal times if you take the time and trouble to have a good look before making your selection - including usually a different 2 types of fish daily (Sea Bass, Sea Bream, Mackerel, Whiting, Trout, Anchovy). There were usually various “casserole/stew” type dishes and the Lamb versions were especially tasty with the meat just falling apart. Needless to say there were also the usual griddled/barbeque meats plus meatballs (very similar to burgers). To compliment these were many, many vegetables on offer – as previously mentioned, you need to have good look at all the choices - we cannot quite believe that some other previous reviewers were at the same hotel.
We thought the layout of the main restaurant very nice with a selection of seating areas each with their own particular theme/ambiance.
All of the restaurant waiting (and clearing up) staff were very professional and soon get to know your regular drinks requirements at each meal.
Likewise all staff in the bars were very polite and helpful – once again soon remembering your “usual order”.
We also found the reception staff very knowledgeable and helpful with any questions that you might have.
Our (side sea view) room was very spacious and cleaned, etc daily by the wonderful housekeeping staff. As it happens, the weather was not kind during our stay so it was very fortunate that the room could be heated when required. Towels and bedding were changed as required and the mini bar restocked daily.
At the time of our visit it was of course winter season with a lot of work going on in the grounds preparing for summer – once again; everyone working very hard.
Also at this time of year the hotel hosts many football teams from various countries and we found it very enjoyable to meet with them and their families – especially the junior teams (seemed to be mostly German) – they were all so polite and well behaved.
Suffice it to say that we enjoyed this, our first visit, so much that we have already booked to come again (14 nights each visit) in September/October 2020 and March 2021.
Well done and thanks to everyone at Titanic Beach Lara.
There is a games room at extra cost, which i did not use.
The hotel is mainly catered for Russians and staff speak limited English . The cleaning and bar staff are helpful but the reception staff are not personal at all, they are actually rude.
The rooms are average I stayed in a twin double, the beds were more like three quater beds rather than double beds. I stayed for 7 nights and my room was only cleaned 5 days out of the 7.
I also felt obliged to tip at the reaturant as the waitresses pay more attention to the tippers and at times me and my family were waiting for a while before drinks ect were served to us.The food times are limited so it is a pain waking up early to ensure you do not miss breakfast as there is no other food place open. There is a patisserie open after lunch at 4.30pm but nothing after breakfast. The food was was very repetitive .
There was no entertainment no animation team, well at least me and several other guests did not see them.
The beach was dirty, I acknowledge that it is out of season but the Delphine hotel which is next door had an immaculate beach with facilities for their guests to use, unfortunately Titanic did not bother and the beach is full of rubble plastic and is very unpleasant.
The indoor swimming pool is okay and guests can use the steam and sauna and the Turkish bath rooms free of charge. The spa is very very expensive I have used hotel Spas before but have ever been asked to pay such high rates. The spa staff are also very aggressive in their sales techniques so be aware.
After checking-in we ordered food via room service, to my surprise one of the schnitzel was under cooked. Raised it with manager, his response was; food was given on plane so why we ordered food. This is not the kind of response one would expect from a manager of 5 Star hotel.
Cleaner regularly forgets to replenish shampoo/ conditioner/ body wash/ toilet paper. Onus is on customer to chase room service to get their supplies. On one occasion room had to phone reception three times before it was cleaned. Duty Manager (Gokhan) was informed and his explanation was, cleaning staffs are over stretched (1 person cleans 30 rooms) during winter times hence the poor the quality of service customers should be bear with it. No steps were taken to improve their service.
Customer complains not taken seriously, on complaining will get an explanation, with no intention of improving it.
All ‘Ala Carte’ restaurants and room service is not included which should be part of all-inclusive package, not stated clearly in website (not updated regularly).
In my honest opinion this is a 3 Star hotel.
My recommendation to all the readers please use other hotels nearby.
Check in was very slow and was not a good experience. When you arrive after several hours of travelling you want to get to your room and change etc as quick as possible. There are not enough staff on to do this so it was frustrating.
The hotel itself was clean in most areas apart from the pools which weren’t cleaned often enough and the rooms weren’t cleaned as they should have been.
This is probably the worst hotel I have been to for an entertainment team - hardly ever saw them apart from playing darts once a day. On a evening the entertainment was mainly what I would describe as a rave with the typical loud repetitive beating ‘music’. This was accompanied by girls doing lap dance type moves on podiums in skimpy outfits - certainly not what I would expect for a family hotel. There were a couple of evenings were there were dancers in the amphitheater which were good.
The food overall was terrible on the basis of presentation and repetitiveness. The first 2 days were fine but then you realise it is the same day after day. The fruit section had no thought, presentation or quality to it at all. Food offering during the day for snacks was poor, waffle and ice cream at the main pool from 3-6 was about the limit. Not a 5 star or all inclusive offering.
Staff were generally attentive and friendly. You always get the odd one who isn’t but mainly they were good.
I think a good judge of a quality hotel is how they try and look after their guests. This hotel falls short. No room for changing when checking out late unless you pay £20 per hour.
The First morning we went down for breakfast and also for sterilising. The clueless staff pointed us towards the steriliser...... But there appeared to be no sink in sight for me to wash the bottles beforehand. Upon questioning they ask us to wash in the WC (and then on further occasions!) What part of hygiene and on top covid 19 do they not understand. When we made a point about this they took the bottles ‘to wash’ (as they could not offer me a sink that is not the toilet) and sterilise for us. Next morning we were told this was the last time they would help! The steriliser itself had dirty brown water when we found it.
We spoke with guest relations on several occasions who have frankly no idea how to ‘manage’ guests because it made no real difference.
Each and Every morning I felt anxiety and you can see the dread in the staff faces when we arrived which is not a nice feeling.
By the end of our stay the bottles stank of stale milk due to improper washing and unfortunately the twins became unwell with sickness and diarrhoea. (None of which the hotel cared anything about)
We requested late checkout and they were ‘willing’ to give us another room but for a charge! No empathy whatsoever, all staff know how to say is ‘we don’t know’ ‘talk to the manager’ and that is their limited English. They make no effort with English only Russian it seems.
Meal times also gave me anxiety to get clean high chairs or even ones with trays!
We paid to stay at this hotel and we paid for service..... but mostly we felt like unwanted guests where bare minimum felt like asking for too much
Staff who did their basic job were the waiters particular mention to Ahmet, Yusuf, Lorraine and Muttalib who did not flinch anytime we requested something basic!
Hotel appeared to be operating above 50% capacity for Covid 19 with regards to social distancing, the hotel was very busy with many guests.
Daily cleaning, we had to ask for the room to be vacuumed (which should have been standard). But their idea of daily cleaning I think is just a quick ‘spruce’ of the bedding and wiping the bathroom mirror.
Positives- short distance from airport, hotel has pleasant decor, good facilities outside for swimming, however it’s just the service that let it down for us. It is supposedly 5* but more 4* at best.
We have made the hotel aware of our concerns but this was only met with ‘I’m sorry you think this’ with no real proactive effort to improve our stay there. It is most likely because it’s all prepaid and they’ve got plenty other guests to cater for. It’s a shame because after reading other reviews we had high hopes.
