We were there for 4 nights. Great location steps from the beach and close to all the action on the boardwalk although you would not know as the hotel monitors noise from neighbouring venues and so rooms are very quiet. The pool overlooks the beach so you can have the best of both worlds. Even our Uber driver one day told us we were staying in a great spot. Close to all amenities, central to airport, Gaslamp, La Jolla, we had a rental car but it took us no more than 15 minutes to get to any highlight in San Diego from Ocean Park Inn. Great location and the staff were excellent and accomodating!

This is a competently-run hotel whose main attraction is its location just steps away from the Pacific Beach (PB) Lifeguard station at the end of Grand Avenue. The beach is just south of Crystal Pier, very lively as the part of PB that starts turning into grittier Mission Beach. Good access to the PB boardwalk with a grass-median buffer and locked gate to escape back into the friendly confines of the hotel pool area. I paid for a parking place in the garage and didn't move the car once, everything in PB easily reachable on foot.

My daughter and I stayed here (as we were visiting some colleges in San Diego) for 2 nights. We loved it!!! We stayed in the Standard Room with ocean front view (there is a king size bed and a sofa bed) which was good for 2 people. I would not book this room for 3 adults. The room was pricey (paid about $365/night which includes taxes) but I knew this going in as I wanted to get us an ocean view. This was completely worth it (get the ocean front view. you will not regret it) as we heard the ocean waves all day and night. The location was A+, on the Pacific Beach boardwalk, walking distance to many restaurants, juice bars/smoothies, coffee places, etc. I sat out on our balcony watching the ocean and people walking the b boardwalk. The hotel has an underground parking garage (in and out privileges) and was only $20 a day which is very reasonable. For you runners out there, I ran everyday on the boardwalk (go north on the boardwalk) which was fantastic running along the ocean. I ran before sunrise and felt safe as there were other runners, walkers, bikers early in the morning. My daughter and I didn't want to leave this hotel. We would totally stay here again!! We held our family reunion at the (recently renovated) Ocean Park Inn last week and everyone had a wonderful time. There were about 34 of us, from grandparents to babies, and all said that they would love to come back again. These are the things we truly appreciated: (1) the heated swimming pool – so nice and warm that people of all ages could swim for hours, (2) the helpfulness of the all hotel staff (this was quite a big party to organize!), (3) the location – just steps across the boardwalk to the beach with access to beach toys, boogie boards, etc. as you stepped out the gate and a nice outdoor shower when you returned, (4) breakfast available in the morning so little ones could be fed without long waits at local restaurants, (5) great espresso shop just steps outside the gate and otherwise lots of good places to eat within easy walking distance. We were able to get a whole row of ground-floor, ocean-facing rooms for families with little ones – the staff was so helpful in accommodating our requests. We’ll be back!

The hotel looks great in the photos and the rooms have been redone, not fancy but adequate. DO NOT BE FOOLED. We had so many problems.
1) We walked out of the hotel to the beach and on the front lawn of the hotel there are many encampments of homeless people, including people with mental issues. To the right of the hotel's front lawn there were several people talking, fighting and playing music way too loud. We immediately walked back to the hotel and advised we would be staying 2 nights only not the 3 nights we booked. We had non-refundable kayak tours, and 2 outdoor dinner reservations. The receptionist gave us an upgrade with a view of the beach. We drove to a La Jolla beach.
The first night we slept and the mattress was comfortable.
2) The second night, the air conditioner began churning, clicking, clanking grinding and it was as if there a cement mixer which was falling apart. We went to sleep because the air conditioning was working, we were tired and didn't want to make a fuss. We woke up 2 hours later to unbelievable loud noises so much so that the manager came up and advised us to leave everything as is and use the next room to sleep. This was at 4:00 am. We were unable to fall asleep right away and therefore did not enjoy our second night at the hotel and had a total of 3 hours of asleep. I have 3 videos with audio of the noise!!
3) The first night and second day the Jacuzzi was out of order.
We were not comped for the sleepless night at the hotel (absolutely anxiety producing night) and we were not offered an additional night stay. We had found a beach cove 12 minutes away from the hotel by car. They offered us $20 free parking for the 2nd day. I wrote to the owner and had NO response.

Our ocean side room location was about 30' from the busiest part of the Pacific Beach boardwalk. Good if you are into people watching and gazing out to ocean. Was bad on one of our two nights when bars closed and patrons mingled on the boardwalk and made enough noise to wake me up. Hotel is three floors. If booking an ocean side room, I definitely recommend one of the top two floors for better ocean views and probably less noise. Room was clean and brightly decorated. Somewhat small but very nice and contemporary styling. On the down side, I wouldn't rate this hotel very high on the value scale. As of the date of this review, the top two floors had been renovated nicely but the bottom floor was a construction zone that we had walk through to access the stairwell to our room. I was disappointed that this was not brought to our attention when booking the room. Front desk personnel were very nice. Continental breakfast was typical waffle maker, bagels, cereal, etc.

The Team at Ocean Park Inn, the Property, the Rooms and Views, the near-by shopping/dining/entertainment, and of course the Location on the beach and ocean all combined made for a perfect setting for a whole family celebration of Nan's 80th Birthday. Every element of our two to five day stay was wonderful. Staggered check-in and sorting out room assignments by Vanesa and Jennie was friendly and flexible. The oooo's and ahhhh's expressed by the adults and eleven grandchildren as they entered their tastefully decorated rooms and had their first view of the Ocean, Beach and Boardwalk from ocean facing patio or balcony. The property is well maintained by Jeff's friendly housekeeping crew; Jeff even took the time to take family pictures for us in the pool area. The only housekeeping glich of the whole stay (missing top sheets on sofas in five rooms) was quickly and quietly corrected by Manny and Ivy of the front desk plus husekeeping while we were away from the property for dinner. I could go on for each element. If there was a rating above ten I would assign it. All of this pleasure is led by the accessable G.M. Vania R. Good teamwork, wonderful property, perfect location. We stayed in an Ocean Front room and unfortunately our view included lots of homeless people right outside on the Boardwalk. They were there from sun up to sun down and really did not provide a nice view at all. Also our shower messed up the last day as we got up early to leave and no water would come out. They did offer us another room to go to so we could shower and refunded our $20 parking per night but the inconvenience was not very fun. Decent Hotel and would be great if it wasn't for those couple issues.

We had a two room suite - great views of the ocean. Very clean. Air conditioning did not work in the livingroom area. They replaced the unit the next day . They offered a 15% discount for this inconvenience, which based on a $600/night room, was not enough in my opinion. They also advertise their free breakfast which they have not had since Covid hit - and no discount for that either. Still love the location, views, balconies, water toys and chairs for you to use and the beds are very comfortable. The shower is nice and big. The staff is courteous. The rooms have been updated with large tv's and decent decor. $2000 for 3 nights is just too much without the little "extras" I would expect. And you have to pay for parking on top of it...If money is not an issue, it is a pleasant place to stay.
