L'Auberge des Gallant is the ideal destination for a romantic and relaxing get-away for all seasons. Its clean contemporary style is in perfect harmony with the beautiful surrounding nature. Our luxurious rooms, health spa, thermal baths, warm and efficient service all contribute to a most pleasant visit. After a devastating fire, that destroyed all of our guest rooms on April 17 2012, like the phoenix bird, Auberge des Gallant was reborn and rose from its ashes! Our new architecture is inspired by our surroundings, including elements of stone, wood and glass. The addition of 41 new guest rooms and 3 banquet halls, all with direct access to outdoors, invites our guests to enjoy our elegant and spacious Inn while communing with Mother Nature! We have been successful at planning weddings for your specific needs, for special events. Space to reflect, compose, organize our meeting in our rooms that accommodate from 5 to 150 people with free access to high speed internet.

Every item is hand made from scracth and is buffet style. There are of course the typical meats but also several very good salads and desserts. There is no pressure to eat and run within an hour. The 52 of us plus many kids, spent over 2 1/2 hours. The wine list at the sugar shack has changed and offers mainly Quebec wines. This was not what our wine lovers were used to. I spoke with the manager and she sent a waitress to the hotel to bring back a box of Bordeaux red and white at a very reasonable price. The place is small with a maximum capacity of just over 100. Therefore, it is cosy and NOT noisy. We had some guests from the Ottawa Italian car club that hoped that we would do it again next year as it was the best SUgar Shack ever.

Thank you and please come again! You were fortunate to have visited the sugar early March, as you now everything shut down on March 16th due to the Corona virus! We were still able to make delicious maple syrup and this is available for sale and delivered by Canada Post.

What a surprise to find such a gem of a hotel! Just an hour from where we live, but it felt like a perfect mini-vacation. Went on the recommendation of friends from Hudson. My partner has Multiple Sclerosis and so we requested a wheelchair accessible room. It was better set up than two other recent ones we stayed at. Much appreciated. We partook of the late Sunday brunch, I hit the hot tub, then had a small dinner in the bar area, sitting in front of the fireplace. After breakfast in the dining room the next morning where we watched the birds in the trees and at the feeders, our stay was over. Would have liked to have had time to walk some trails, visit the spa. Will just have to come back! Certainly a great place for a winter get-away. VERY reasonably priced. Very friendly staff and excellent service. Top notch!

We stayed in a forest side room and got to watch the deers come to feed. The hotel is just beautiful and the walk through the woods is stunning. Our stay included an a la carte dinner that was fantastic, as was the second dinner from the Bistro. The whole hotel is super clean and the staff is so friendly. We did choose to wipe down the room with disinfectant wipes, but all the nooks and crannies were cleaned. Big hug to Sandra for hand delivering our presents; she’s the best! Don’t forget your swim suit and toque to hit the outdoor hot tubs. The in-room robes dry overnight with the closet door open.

We were at the Auberge last weekend and we were disappointed. The service could previously have inconsistencies, but this time it was pretty consistently low. I believe there have been issues with hiring during pandemic, but even a couple of staff we previously knew were off their game.
One day, walking over to supper, we had to shimmy by a table in the corridor because servers were setting up dishes to serve in the dinner room. We could barely get by.
Also, before the Auberge needs to update its rooms which are still nice, small (and perhaps not so small) things need attention. Like a coat of paint on baseboards or changing the flushing lever on the toilets. Suttle things that don't warrant the prices of a four star hotel.
And don't expect to use the SPA, it is closed. I was told by previous staff that this would be for a while.
We loved this place but they will need to step up if they want to stay in our good books.

This used to be a diamond in the rough. We went for an anniversary dinner. The menu was very limited. The prices were exorbitant which would have been ok if the value was there. We received a gift certificate for a dinner, overnight stay and spa package. The spa is closed indefinitely as they have no manpower. Perhaps they should advise people when they are purchasing these very expensive gifts. Also to pay that amount for a nice intimate dinner then to be seated right beside the pianist was really not acceptable. We were told upon arrival that we had to be staying at the auberge to have access to the dining room. Perhaps this should have been communicated when the reservation was made which I might add was done on site not over the phone. We stayed here 4 years ago and had a 5 course meal, beautiful breakfast buffet and a massage. It was amazing. How things change in such a short time. Very disappointed. The service and staff were all good and courteous.

First time at this restaurant/ resort. We took mom for her 75 birthday and enjoyed the atmosphere. As for our meal.. not at all. Mom and I ordered the burger Gallant and our meat was raw. We kindly asked to have it cooked again and moms burger was still quite raw. Not sure if this is a new “ way to cook meat “ we where very disappointed to pay $20 for the burger. As for thé ambiance it is very rustic and clean.

We returned after a forced year and a half hiatus due to Covid. The Auberge staff was as professional and welcoming as always, the rooms clean and airy, and the facilites as wonderful. We felt very safe with their Covid protocols and had no worries. We enjoyed the walking trails through the forest and wandering around the expansive gardens.
This time however, we were shocked at the drop in quality of the food. The choice was average, no special fish or meat on offer, and the preparation left much to be desired. No 'Wow' factor like in previous years. Not only was the main dish uninspired (without exaggeration I can say my salmon and filet mignon sauce is better), but the side dish was almost laughable, a child-sized portion. One new potato cut in two, ½ a hard little carrot, and a bit of roasted sweet pepper. Not worth the price. What had been a highly anticipated dining experience was hugely disappointing. Not sure we'll be returning any time soon.

I purchased a voucher from Travelzoo for a one-night stay at the Auberge. They called asking if there was no dinner service would it impact our visit. The voucher included a 3-course meal for two people. Of course, it would affect our stay. Where else would we eat, and besides, it was part of the package! The only solution they offered was to change our reservation. HMMMM. It is not easy to change schedules while dealing with work schedules and a family!! They did not provide any other alternative. The voucher expires on Oct. 31st, 2021. We are, needless to say, very disappointed, and we were looking forward to this little getaway! I will never book a stay there ever again. Cancelling dinner without an alternative that evening is not acceptable.

Avoid items on the table d’hote menu, unless they are also on the a la carte menu. The porc loin from the table d’hote menu was hard and dry. It was a real disappointment, as we were looking forward to a pleasant dinner. Items on the a la carte menu were delicious.
If you choose one of the packages, like we did, with discounted nearby activities, you may be disappointed. Find out ahead of time whether those activities will be available during your stay... otherwise you may be left with a handful of useless potential activities cards!
Breakfasts were pretty ordinary buffet style... surprising during a pandemic.

Auberge des Gallants has been our favourite for many years. Within an hour from home, you feel like you are very far away, in a tranquil, welcoming climate. The grounds are nicely maintained, the staff friendly and the food is exceptional. The wine selection caters to varied tastes, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable.

Would this be a good place to bring children? Thanks
Answer from Linda S

breakfast, brunch and lunch are perfect for young children as is our early sitting for dinner where you have two options either the pub menu or the restaurant 1171 menu. We suggest you reserve no later than 6h30 pm for dinner as dinner can be a two hour or more experience from 7h00 pm and on.
