We just returned from a week at this lodge. It was an amazing week !!
This lodge has an amazing scenery, is quiet, comfortable, great from hiding from the rest of the world for few days.
It is a perfect place with family with children of any age, there is a lot of things to do for any kind of age. French Provincial Park is few km from cottage for a few hours fun trips with the kids. Small town is 3 -5 km far away where you can buy whatever you forgot.
The owner Andrew was awesome. He answered all our questions and concern prior to the trip and when we arrived he was always there for us for anything that we need.
We rented cottage called "Cedar" which is for 4 people. Very clean, big bathroom with very fabulous shower. Kitchen well equipped with toaster, coffee machine, microwave, refrigerator and freezer. Living room with TV for raining days if you need it.
If you have mobility issues like me this cottage is the best for you. Only few steps from water and very closer to parking and fire camp too. Canoes and kayaks are all provided and they are just beside this cottage.
For the renters, I recommend bring a canopy for the deck for the hot days.
For the owner, I recommend to add few good knives for the meat and may be more fans.
Awesome place !!!
We have so much fun with the family.
We will definitely come back.
Highly recommended.
Thank you, Andrew !!

We spent a week fishing at North Channel Cottages and Stayed in Cottage 5 - Cedar. The Cottage was clean and comfy...fishing was mot as good, but the scenery was great...couple of cool mornings with frost!

Andrew, the Owner, was very helpful, especially with getting our boat in and out of the water.

Suggestions for Cedar Cottage...Have window coverings on every window;
Add Lamps in some of the areas in the cottage..ie. the Bedrooms and Living area;

We thoroughly enjoyed our week...it was quiet and in a great setting...

My wife and I recently spent a week at this property and overall it was a decent stay. The property was spread out well with lots of beautiful scenery around it.

There were 7 cottages in total, with us staying in the White Pine (1 bedroom), so I can only comment on this particular cottage.

The cottage itself was clean at first glance but if I'm honest, could have used a more thorough cleaning, specifically with dusting (ceiling fan was particularly bad) and more so given the current pandemic situation. Again, if I'm honest, prior to unpacking, we gave it a more thorough cleaning in terms of dusting and sweeping (including under the bed which had been clearly missed).

The cottage is definitely on the rustic side which we were expecting anyway. It included kitchenware as well as a small table with 2 chairs. Small appliances (coffee maker, kettle and toaster were all pretty new) which was great, however the stove (from the 70's) and fridge which while both worked, could probably use an update.

The outside deck was in nice shape with a bbq (no cover on ours but others had one). The views from the deck were awesome with easy access to other parts of the property.

During our stay, the other 6 cottages were in use and for the most part everyone had their privacy. The use of the water craft (canoe's, s'ups and kayaks) was great and we took advantage of them to explore the river itself. Again, fortunately we had our own lysol wipes for the paddles as there were none provided.

As mentioned, Noelville is located about 3-4 kms away which was useful if you needed anything from the store. There are a few places relatively close to the property to explore to see more than just the cottage area itself.

Overall we had a decent time but would recommend a few suggestions in relation to the White Pine cottage:

- more lighting, hooks and some kind of ventilation in the bathroom
- keep up on the dusting
- toilet needs to be tightened down as it rocked when getting on/off it
- update and/or install a screen in the window above the stove as there was no ventilation or fan to use when cooking. If we left the window open, it would have allowed bugs to get in which I don't care how out-doorsy you are, no one wants!
- some kind of table to accompany the couch
- a safer way to house the water craft when not in use as at times, people had difficulty lowering them down usually resulting in the craft being dropped.
- an outside broom to combat the consistent cobweb build up
- smooth out the driveway that leads you into the property as it was pretty uneven
- ensure all bbq's have covers

I still decided to rate this property a 5 as overall, we had a good time here, however, these suggestions, if acted on, would make it that much better.

Thanks to Andrew, who was a pleasure to chat wth and very informative about the property and area.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a detailed review, we greatly appreciate hearing about your stay with us and how we can make improvements at the lodge. We apologize that lysol wipes were not provided for the paddles of the water equipment, and we have corrected this immediately. We have taken your recommended suggestions of improvements and we will be implementing these suggestions to improve our cottages. We also apologize about the dust you found in the cottage, and we have taken steps to ensure areas like the ceiling fan and under the bed are not missed during housekeeping - thank you for bringing this to our attention and giving us the opportunity to correct this. It was a pleasure to meet you and your wife, and we hope to see you in the future. Enjoy the rest of your summer! All the best, Andrew & Megan

What can I say, this vacation was awesome, I don't think I have had this much quiet in a very long time. Andrew was awesome!!!! He met us upon our arrival and was very welcoming. Our cottage (Red Pine) was very clean and renovations had just been completed. We had probably the best view of the French River of all the cottages on site. There was amble access to Canoe's Paddle Boards and Kyacks and the Life Jackets actually fit me!!!! Andrew took us out on 2 separate tours on the Pontoon Boat, this area of the French River is excellent if you are looking for fishing or just calm quiet landscape. I would highly recommend North Channel Cottages, we have already booked for next year and already looking forward to being there again

Just returned from a week at North Channel Cottages and had a wonderful time overall.
The Positives:
The cottage was very large (Cottage #7 - Oak) with 3 good sized bedrooms (ours had a clean comfortable king size bed) and could easily sleep 8 people. Linens were supplied, as were pillows, dishtowells, etc.
There was plenty of seating available in the large living room & large sunroom.
The kitchen was large enough to seat 8 people with plenty of cupboard space for your stuff as well as the cottage dishes, etc. It was well equipped with good, working fridge, stove, microwave, electric skillet, coffee maker & kettle.
The 3 bedrooms, living room & sunroom all had ceiling fans which helped keep things cooler especialy at night.
The bathroom was very clean, well maintained and large. The shower was bigger than most cottage showers and had excellent water pressure and hot water.
A very large, well equipped deck with plenty of seating was nice to have. Spectacular views of the water that was only about 10' away from the deck.
My wife & I took our 4 year old grandson and he had a blast jumping into the water from the dock or swimming platform or just running in from the beach. This was a several times daily event, because it was an unbelievably hot & humid week.
The most positive thing I can mention is our host & owner Andrew Rowaan. He went out of his way to be helpful & accomodating right from the moment of initial inquiry about the cottage. When we arrived we were greeted by Andrew in the driveway and instructed on procedure for backing my boat down to the launch and cottage. He gave instruction all the way down through a narrow space betweeen the cottages & river and things went off without a hitch...except that my boat battery wouldn't hold a charge and wouldn't start. Andrew graciously lent me a new battery until Monday when I could go into town to purchase a new one. Because I needed to have a trailer light looked at, he called the repair facility for me on Monday to arrange that as well.
When it was time to unload our truck with all our stuff, Andrew was there to help lug coolers & boxes into the cottage. This type of thing took place the entire week with not only us but the entire resort. You can tell that he loves what he is doing and is very passionate about his resort.
The Negatives: (I need to really stretch to find any, but here goes)
Cottage - All the windows didn't have screens and because it was so hot & humid this would have been beneficial so more windows could be opened and insects couldn't get in.
Like every cottage I have ever rented, some kitchen utensils need attention. The only can opener was basically useless, but I made it work the one time i needed it. (on a side note, if I had thought to mention this to Andrew at the time, I am sure he would have replaced it). Knives could use sharpening and maybe a better variety of knife sizes would be helpful.
The sunroom had a leather couch & leather love seat that were basically sat out. Leather probably isn't a very good choice for that room either as it gets very warm and sticky with all the windows.
The Deck - Very little shade until mid to late afternoon so it got uncomfortable at times. The steps are a little steep. Barbecue could use a wire brush for cleaning the grill.
The boat launch - A little difficult to back down the driveway and onto the ramp, but Andrew was always there to help with this. The ramp is in need of some repair though as it is cracked & broken in places.
Parking - Because of the configuration of the resort with most cottages really close to the water, there is little room for parking. Therefore, all guests needed to park in communal parking away from their cottages. Mine was quite a distance and up a fairly steep hill which was not a lot of fun to walk to in the searing heat & humidity if I needed to go out or get something from my truck.
Also because of the resort configuration there is only a communal campfire. Andrew is very accomodating though & will light it early if you have young children that can't stay up late.
No store, bait or gas pumps on site so you may need to go to town for something
Overall, I would highly recommend this cottage resort to anyone. It is quiet, comfortable, well kept & very scenic. It is relatively close to town (Noelville) and you can pick up anything you may need there. Above all the owner is a pleasure to deal with no matter what you may need.

we enjoyed our stay at North channel Cottages, very clean cottages, well equipped and comfortable beds, also the grounds are well kept and maintained. Our son enjoyed the fishing and boat. there was a camp fire every evening and one evening Adam took us out on the river in his boat, and we were able to get beautiful sun set pictures.
Good job Andrew, Megan, Ben, and August. Thanks again, hope to see you next year!

I found this property on Google. I contacted the owner Andrew directly. Our summer week in Northern Ontario was excellent. Andrew went out of his way to make sure we were happy with the accommodations and the property. The property is located on a quiet stretch of the North Channel of the famous French River system. It is a short drive from the small town of Noelville which offers anything you might need or forgot to bring. We have already booked for next summer.

I spent the Labour Day weekend in 2017 at a cottage here and loved it! My cottage was a great size for one person and it had a breathtaking view. Every morning, I woke up and stood in the living room or on the deck to watch the fog rolling off of the river and hear the loons calling.

There is a beach there with chairs and sand. A great place to sit with a book and a glass of wine and enjoy the day. I took a paddle board out for a spin. It was fun and challenging! I also borrowed a kayak and paddled around. The river is very quiet with very little traffic.

The hosts are very friendly and helpful, and even took me on a boat ride in the pontoon boat to an inland lake. It was amazing!

I can’t wait to come back again this summer!
