What a GREAT experience. We were near the end of our 24 day, 16,000 kilometer car trip, and this lovely place was a delight. First of all, Elijah, the host, was very helpful. He even recommended a nearby good place for gas at a good price. Then on arrival, he greeted us and even offered to help us (we're age 81 and 78) with our luggage. Then we talked for a while in the office, and his wife and (almost) 4 year old daughter dressed in a "princess" dress, came to talk too. What a lovely, friendly family! We talked about many things from our family, to how he met his wife (in Vietnam). When she heard that we had been to Vietnam years before, she made a special Vietnamese dish and brought it to our room! Now, that's hospitality PLUS!!!
SWe have been to all 50 US States, Europe, the Far East, Australia & N.Z. all 10 Canadian provinces and 3 Territories, and this Motel near Terrace Bay has to be the nicest of all.

The owner was more than happy to explain the history of the property, including Terry Fox's memorable stay. We even stayed in the same room that Terry stayed in, which was really special, one of the highlights of our trip. The room has some great memorabilia. The room was also immaculately clean and the shag carpeting was awesome. The location is perfect - a few hundred meters from the Terry Fox Beach at Jackfish Bay (which is a great place to go for a swim!). Quiet, comfortable, large room, and great internet connection. We would stay here again!

Great stay! We had noticed the well taken care of property when driving by and decided to stay during a cross country trip. Great value for $. Very clean room. Great service upon check in/checkout. Large clean bathroom.

Short drive to Terrace for food.

Would stay here again. There’s not much to choose from in the area and we were very happy we decided to stop here.

This place is beautifully kept and in a very quiet area. Even though it's not too far from the TransCanada Highway the rooms are quiet and we slept like babies. The owners take great pride and it's easy to see. It's only our second time here traveling on our motorcycles, and it will not be the last time. Because of the location and being surrounded by nothing but a lake and forests, they have no restaurant here. Bring your lunch or pack your cooler. But other than that it's a 10 out of 10. We will come back definitely. And I highly recommend it.

I enjoyed two nights at this very clean and affordable motel. It was quiet in the room as the building is a bit back from the highway. I could hear the birds singing in the woods from my back window. The grounds are well kept with colourful lupins in bloom. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They even prepared my room early for me as I arrived on a rainy day.

My room was large with a comfortable bed. The fridge and microwave were great as there is no restaurant, but it is a short drive to Terrace Bay with lots of food options. The beach at Terrace Bay is wonderful, and there is even a small beach on Jackfish Lake right across from the motel.

Neys Provincial Park and excellent visitor centre are also great places to visit in the area!

I would rate this motel a 4.5 as everything was great, other than the room seeming a bit damp when I arrived (but the dehumidifier helped and it was better the second day).

It’s often been said that while driving across Canada you will drive through some beautiful long stretches of nothing. How true. It’s important to plan your destination, so that you’re not driving at night. I had called the hotel at about 2 pm to tell them I’d arrive around eight, I was glad I did, since it quickly filled up. Travelling eastward we passed other motels along the way, they didn’t have as much curb appeal as the Coach House Motel. It was a great place to sleep, a quaint atmosphere, and it was super clean as promised! We arrived and enjoyed a small walk to a beach to see the sunset. Super Pleasant! The Coach House Motel a great place to sleep, and the owners are super welcoming too!

We were looking for a place close to Terrace Bay and the Coach House Motel was perfect. Very clean, spacious room, great fridge and small eating table. The hosts were absolutely lovely and went out of their way to accommodate our needs. So glad we stayed here rather than in Terrace Bay proper as there is a terrible sulphur smell from the pulp mill.

During our adventure, I booked this motel along our travels. The outside of the motel may need a little work, new roof. However manager/owner very nice and helpful! Inside the room, cleaned maticluously - we still rave about how clean the room was. Not a speak of dirt found. Beds were comfortable, everything we needed was available. Was advised that there was a beach across the highway, Jackfish Lake - we did't have time to see it. No breakfast - we would definitely stay there again. Great place to stay.

This is a very tidy run family motel. We have travelled through Ontario and stayed at many places overnight.
This was my best rest on a very long highway. Book ahead stay a few days, as the word is getting out that this is safe, quaint, and spic and span. Bonus there is property to walk around and the lake across the road!

We ended up booking this place twice. Once on our way to southern Ontario and our way back. Both were because everywhere else we had called was booked completely and if wasn't for this place we'd be sleeping in our car with three kids. They remembered us for our second booking and gave us a discount. I will stay there every time now! Thank you !

Hi there, As a lot of the hotels work on a seasonal basis, you may find a few of them closed at that point. I believe the Coach House Motel closes in November, but I would reach out to them to confirm. If they are closed, there is a motel in Terrace bay that is open in the winter and also one back towards eastern Canada in Marathon that is open. Most likely you will not have a problem sorting a place that time of year as school is in and summer is well over by then. Enjoy your travels.

There was a small coffee carafe and a little fridge as you walked in the door. The wifi didn't work in my room.
