Well, had great time in this hotel with an amazing staff in the reception. Thank you to #ihgvip for such a wonderful advance notice to the hotel. I feel like celebrity during my check-in🥰🥰🥰.
Hotel is newly renovated and converted to #indigohotel for the past 2 months. Artistic design and comfortable space of the room.
Spacious space in the lobby with dedicated workspace and nice bar and restaurant in the lobby with lovely music.
Ideal location with just 5mins walk to one of the iconic tourist destinations in Barcelona “Plaza España, Font Montjuic and Museum Nacional de Catalunya”
Less than 10mins from main train station of Barcelona-Sants.
The hotel itself is clean, well maintained and the staff are very friendly. The room was clean, comfortable and had a great shower!
We had breakfast during our stay and I cannot fault the food. There was lots of choice and I imagine the food should cater for everyone's tastes.
The hotel is located near to public transport with metro and bus stops close by, but we found that we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. An excellent hotel in an excellent location.
Hotel Keeping of luggage:
Was glad the hotel could hold my luggage till my return as i travelled to the south of spain for about 2 weeks plus. One of the main reason i booked this hotel. Also because in my previous stay, i have found the hotel to be clean.
Hotel room:
During my initial one night stay, i was given a room on the 2nd level facing the road to which the window could not be closed tight. Hence, there were quite some traffic noises noting that Gran Via is a big street for traffic. On my return on 23rd Mar, i was given an inner room, no view but much much quieter and i was glad for that.
Room was generally clean and nothing to fault and space was ok. What is good also is that now a boiling kettle is added to the room. When i stayed here years back during my first trip to Barcelona, i had to request for one from the reception. The kettle can do some decalcification though.
Hotel enforcement of mask wearing.
Very Very POOR !!!! Many guests just walked in and out of the hotel without masks, take lifts without masks and the hotel staff said and did nothing at all. Think about 30% of customers do not don on masks during their stay in the public domain. This include those who sat around the lobby area. Something that irks me quite a fair bit. Partly for the low rating. Some other hotels i have been to in spain, the staff and/or security guards will actually point to customers to put on their masks which i think is prudent. Covid is supposedly less serious as countries open up due to the economy and NOT that Covid is gone or not dangerous anymore!!!
Distance from Metro:
Pretty near the Espanya metro station about 2/3 mins to reach and also for the Aeroport express bus station especially when coming from BCN airport.
Eateries, think got to head out further for better food though near to Hostafranc Metro about 10 mins walk there is a nice restaurant to which the hotel reception recommended to me.
There is a nearby mini supermarket that you can buy your water from and lug back to the hotel About 2/3 mins walk.
Hotel staff:
Generally, find the staff lacking of smiles and lacking of "Hola" greeting even when you are near to the reception counter. Elena was nice and shared with me some nice restaurants in Seville when she found out that i was headed there., Thanks Elena. The housekeeping staff, a male staff, was very friendly and helpful.
My rating is mainly for the staff lack of response to customers at the reception, their nonchalant and inaction towards customers who do not wear mask in the public area and also my first night stay that was noisy.
Overall, during the low season months, i think the hotel provides good value.

Location is also very practical. There are bus and metro station in close proximity and walking to the port is also not impossible.
Mini bar is just small bottle of water, bed is not very comfy. Location is good but not for NY eve. No rooftop bar or access to roof. No view from rooms to Spanish square/fountain and hotel bar was closed for NY eve - midnight drinks. Just a dinner from 8 till 9Pm. We were lucky to find a spot in near by bar, but it's not easy wit no reservation.
Fan in the room works like old engine, not possible to sleep when it's on. Opening window is a no go due to noise from the street and it's too warm in the room to sleep in December, I wonder how does it look in summer. TV doesn't work (statics) on upper floors and wi-fi is a joke - breaking connection each 2 minutes.
It's just another hotel with no "I would like to come back" feeling.
