Amazing hotel! Everything was perfect. Room lovely and big- was cleaned beautifully every day. Had a balcony which was lovely. Extremely clean and shampoo conditioner and body wash was provided. Greeted everytime we walked into the reception area. Very good location could walk to most places and taxi from airport was around 25 euros so very reasonable. After checkout we stayed in the lobby and bottled water was given to us for free and more offered if needed. Didn’t use pool area but was open in January! Only thing I would say is there is minimal privacy with in room shower which was fine for us but to be something to think about if privacy is needed whilst showering. Would definitely stay again!

We stayed at this hotel for a few days and returned for our second trip to Barcelona. The staff is phenomenal from the front desk to the doormen and bartenders and especially the housekeeping staff. We loved the rooftop pool area which also offers a great view of the city rooftops and the sun set. The location of the hotel is perfect. You can walk almost anywhere you want to go, public transportation is very close by, or the hotel can arrange a taxi if you need a ride to the airport for an early flight. Highly recommended. We will be staying here again.

Located about 2 blocks from Casa MILA or Pedrera which is one of Gaudi’s architectural achievements and also walk to De Gracia where Casa Batllo is, a block from the nearest subway and also 2-3 blocks from the major public bus routes and across taxi stop and many shops from boutiques to famous designers and restaurants - is what you need to rate a good hotel for me.
This is a very contemporary new hotel with glass doors to shower and toilet which you can not be visible and is private. The light to the glass for toilet is automatic so your privacy is automated without thinking.
The hallway light is also very modern.
There is large swimming pool on the roof top and a glassed exercise room so you do not feel boxed in while exercising. Too bad the weather was kind of cold for us to take a swim. But it is a nice feature.
The breakfast area which is also their restaurant has outdoor space inner garden on warmer months. But the area in itself has floor to ceiling windows looking out on the street. Breakfast always has ham from acorn fed pigs, a buffet array including vegetables, fruits and can order omelette, pancakes and cappuccinos on the side. The little croissants are crisp and fresh.
Good access to everything and reasonably priced.
The showers are different so you may have to figure how to work it out. The sink stopper is also different which we also had to learn. It is modern.

This was our second stay at Olivia Balmes (our first stay was in November 2017), and we would doubtless stay here again when we come back to Barcelona.
The location is perfect for pretty much anything: exploring the city, getting a feel for how the locals live, dining out, and enjoying the fabulous architecture of the Eixample. The rooms are well designed and impeccably clean. Slippers and bathrobes were available on request and delivered within minutes. Despite being on a busy corner, the rooms were perfectly quiet with the windows closed.
But most of all, the staff were amazing - genuinely friendly without being obsequious, and wonderfully accommodating. We had a late flight, and the reception staff were happy for us to have the room as long as we needed it.

Location helps a lot to make the stay in Barcelona as easy as possible, close enough to the main points of interest and local life but in a quiet and safe area of the city center. The hotel is in a great location for sightseeing and within east walking distance of the major sights. The rooms are spacious with clever touches like sensor lights in the bathrooms, good water pressure in the bathroom and plenty of storage to unpack. The shower and toilet were in the room, not in a separate space and had semi see through glass doors. I was traveling alone so not an issue but seeing your partner go to the loo is not the stuff of a romantic mini break. The pool is okay but very small and packed in the summer. Sun loungers (if you could get one) were ripped and very uncomfortable. Don’t book the hotel for the pool. Staff were friendly enough if a little fractious at the pool (understaffed). I did not add breakfast as there are lots of good options near the hotel including a place for takeaway coffee right opposite. Overall, I had a good stay but I do think the hotel is over priced.

I really liked the Olivia Balmes hotel. I traveled here on business June 2022 visiting from New York. The room was clean and very comfortable, and i loved the location (you felt like you were right in the heart of everything) but not on an extremely busy road, so it was still quiet at night. It was pretty hot out so i enjoyed relaxing in the infinity pool and having some drinks up on the pool deck. Not a huge area, but it was never too crowded where you couldn't find a chair.
The staff was always extremely helpful, regardless of what time of day it was. I was always able to quickly get help, have a presentation printed by them, or get a taxi very quickly. Some of the best hotel service i've had.
I really liked the gentleman who hangs out by the front door and outside in the afternoons/evenings. He was such a nice and cool down to earth guy. He made me some great food recommendations and told me where to eat and what tourist spots to avoid. He was extremely nice and always interested in hearing how your day was and what I was up to that day. Just a great all-around experience

We arrived at Olivia Balmes Hotel early morning following a Mediterranean cruise. We had originally planned to just leave our bags as we were aware check-in wasn’t until the afternoon. We were greeted by Josep who arranged a complimentary welcome drink and a croissant while he checked to see if our room was ready - which it was!
As this was our first time in Barcelona, Josep took his time to explain a map of the city, and highlighted the ‘must see’ locations whilst giving us directions how to get there. The hotel was centrally located for exploring the city. It was close to lots of good restaurants and bars, which Josep gave us some good recommendations for tapas and paella.
The room was spacious for three people, modern and had good facilities. The pool area looked nice, even though we didn’t get chance to use it. Breakfast was varied and of good quality. We were given a complimentary bottle of wine and a discount for dinner in the hotel restaurant. The weather was hot, and we were offered a bottle of water when leaving the hotel each morning.
For us, this hotel went the extra mile to ensure their guests have a very comfortable stay, it made the experience more personal. Those extra touches made such a difference and all the staff we encountered were polite and helpful. For our next trip to Barcelona we will be choosing this hotel again, and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Barcelona. Thank you to all the staff at Olivia Balmes Hotel for a fantastic stay!

First time in Barcelona and stayed at this hotel. Excellent customer service very attentive to requests. The room was clean and it was nice having a balcony. The toilet is separate from the shower which I'm not a fan of usually but it worked out well. I was a bit disappointed with the cleanliness of one small towel as I found a dead bug in it which meant re-washing my hair. The toothpaste they provide is in a small sachet which is enough for one go. I asked the cleaner for more but they didn't have any so went out to buy. Not a problem really just a minor inconvenience. The second night we were given a bottle of wine in our room which was nice of the hotel staff, however we don't drink alcohol so it can be saved for another guest. The beds were OK but I was not sure about cleanliness due to certain smells. I don't think fresh sheets are used when you stay in hotels so I've been told. They just open it up again and remove creases.
The location is good walking distance from the city centre. We took a taxi to La Sagrada Familia as that it a longer walk. I feel as though the taxis in Barcelona are genuine and don't try to rip off tourists.
Overall, I would recommend the hotel even with some disappointments it was still pleasant and the customer service is excellent. Special shout out to Eduardo who is super nice and attentive.

Excellent service and attention. The location was great, most tourist attractions are at walk able distance, there is also public transportation near and there are multiple restaurants and places to eat near by. You can also request taxis to take you directly to the airport with the hotel.

We’ve stayed here twice now and we’ve loved every time. The staff are excellent - attentive and welcoming. The hotel is away from the tourist areas, but within easy walking distance, some very good restaurants are a short walk away, as is the tour bus (when it’s running). Our most recent stay was during COVID, but the hotel was very clean and safe and many tourist attractions are empty, we haven’t had to use for anything, so more time for sightseeing / eating /drinking. Now is a perfect time to visit Barcelona.

Yes, there were two of us, and the room was spacious enough that we had plenty of room to move around without bumping into each other. Our room, as well as the lobby and restaurant, were beautifully appointed, and the staff was very helpful and accommodating.I agree with someone else's comment that the location is great. There are beautiful trees, fun boutiques, and it's safe. Also, you are just a short walk to some of the big attractions.
I do not recall the mattress being particularly soft or hard. My preference for a firm rather than soft mattress may have influenced my memory. What I do remember is that we slept like babies every night And our experience was fantastic enough to warrant our return to Olivia Balmes without hesitation.
There are more places to choose from in the Barcelona area.
