We booked a room here after having to cancel another hotel where we were given a different room than what we paid for. It was the best thing that could have happened. It’s in walking distance to most of the attractions, bus stops are only a few meters away, as well as shops and restaurants/bars. The guys at the reception were all extremely friendly and nice. Indeed the rooms are small but clean and comfortable. :) Totally recommend it.

Good afternoon dear guest, Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Regarding location, that is actually one of the strongest points in our hostel: the main tourist attractions are located withing walking distance from our hostel. We also appreciate your compliments for our staff. Looking forward to hosting you again. Reception team

Enjoyed my room! Got a room with four beds for myself and group of friends, and it ended up working very well. Beds were comfortable and clean, and the desk service was friendly and gave good recommendations for food in the area. Decent area, close to a metric stop. Only complaint is that you are not allowed to bring the room key out of the hotel, you need to speak to the receptionist to get your key every time you enter the hotel.

Good afternoon dear guest, Thank you very much for your kind review, we appreciate it and are happy to read that you enjoyed your vacation in Barcelona. We would just like to point out that we request to leave the key inside the hostel for security reasons. Previously some guests have lost it, thus this situation may be extremely risky for everyone's security. We hope you can understand it. All the best,

Just returned from 3 night stay at Hostal Centric. Very smart accommodation, quality furniture, bed and shower room. Quiet location. Very friendly staff on reception from whom we got a kettle (5 Euro refundable deposit) and bottle opener. A couple of nice sitting areas one with coffee machine and selection of teas. No restaurant on site but was given great recommendations for local area. Good value, great area and would definitely recommend.

I think it is fair to start with the positive- it is clean. That being said, I did not enjoy my stay in the hotel. And you can keep reading as it gets ridiculous at the end. So, the AC was making some awkward noises all the time and for someone who sleeps light this is very bad. I thought the hotel was quiet but it was actually empty. The moment there were people on our floor and above I could hear them walk and talk. And here comes the funny part- from day one there was this guy Antonio at reception who tried to smile and look kind but was actually rude and frankly I did not enjoy interacting with him and tried not to. There is 1 key for each room and they want it returned at reception before leaving for a walk. Ok, but this key is the one you turn the electricity with (the card attached to it). This was the coldest week in Barcelona this season and I want to come back to a warm room. I asked Antonio for a workaround and got: We save energy and if you are not in the room AC will not work (what? Am I paying for this room or yes?) One of the days I needed a washing machine for a blouse and asked if they will help me out (it was no problem to pay) again, our “friend” sent me to a public washing service.
I go downstairs and ask for water for the kettle in the lobby and he says: stairs are wet and water is upstairs you will have to wait. The thing is, it turns out he could have offered a kettle for our room, because we can have one for the entire stay (a fact I missed) but he did not offer one and made me wait for water. And here comes the situation where he flipped: we go out and ask his colleague at reception to get our room cleaned and towels changed. It turns out we forgot the do not disturb sign on the door. We come back, see no one cleaned and I asked Antonio for it to be done. He flips at me at this point, telling me that I have to bring him the towels and get new ones. Up until this point the only thing I did is have a very annoyed look on my face but I did not say a word, did not raise my voice or anything. And this dude decides it is a good idea to tell me: “You have a very bad face, I don’t have to put up with your bad face (repeated “bad face” like 5 times) and that I have to be kinder to him! I just turned around and left. Again not saying a word. He did not apologize because he is obviously some entitled guy who does not realize that even if you don’t like a client, you are at work and don’t have the right to act like that. But hey, when you just work somewhere you don’t realize this is no way of doing business.

Dears ALEKSANDRA and ZHIVKO, Thank you for leaving some impressions about your stay with us. We see that your experience wasn't the best, and we'd like to apologize for that. Our service may fail sometimes, but we work hard to offer the best possible experience for our customers. First of all, we are deeply sorry if you felt somehow offended. I have talked to Antonio and he apologizes for his words, he didn't mean to offend you in any way. He just tried to make some sarcastic comment to break the ice. Just wanted to point out that he has been working with us for a few years and the feedback I get from him is usually extremely positive. Maybe his manners weren't appropriate, but all the answers he gave you were precise: - As detailed in the property listing, our rooms are not soundproof. Though our target is usually quiet and respectful guests (families and couples), some noises are unavoidable. - Regarding the noise with the AC, these machines make some noise every 1-2h when the system re-charges water, but shouldn't be that loud. We'll check that concrete unit right away to verify if there's something wrong with it. Sorry for the disturbances. - The key is attached to the electricity card on purpose to avoid guests from leaving the lights and appliances on while they're out. This is one of the protocols included in the EU eco-recommendations for touristic establishments. - Being a hostel, there're many services you'd get in a hotel but we don't provide because we don't have the facilities to do so; such as laundry service. That's why Antonio recommended you a nearby public laundry. - There's a kettle for public use in the lobby but you can also get one for your room by leaving a 5 € deposit. This information is shown in the info panels, elevator and the welcome e-mail we send all guests. Sorry if Antonio didn't offer you this option when you needed it. However, we keep the kettles in the same place where we fill them, so you should have waited anyway. - Even if you specifically request for cleaning service at reception, the cleaning maids would never enter a room with the "don't disturb" sign or guests inside. They always pass a couple of times every day, but if they can't access the room, the service won't be fulfilled. - If needed, we can always provide fresh towels or sheets but if it's outside the maid's schedule, the guest would be requested to pass by reception to get them. Once again, please accept our most sincere apologies for the inconveniences we may have caused to you. All best, Arantxa Aznar Reception Manager

Absolutely brilliant place to stay, it is easy to get to using the Aerobus from the Airport. Excellent location, very central to everything. Staff are amazing, very friendly, very knowledgeable and helpful. Beautiful rooms which were spotlessly clean. Would definitely stay here again.

This is definitely not what us brits associate with a 'Hostal'. It is in fact a beautiful hotel that is in a prime location in Barcelona. Room was perfect with a nice view of the street out on the balcony. Only downside to having a balcony room was the loud noise early hours of the morning coming from the bin collectors, other than that one night it was quiet the remainder of my stay, but this is obviously not the hotels fault so don't let this put you off. No kettle in the room but they have a coffee machine downstairs, as well as a vending machine, but there is a shop next door and an amazing supermarket a 5 minute walk away which sells wine for 1 euro!
I cannot fault this location at all. In perfect distance of the Gothic Quarter, Las Ramblas and there are 3 metro stations within a 5 minute walk of the hotel which is handy for people wanting to explore Park Guell or Camp Nou, it was so easy to get there on the metro using the T10 card.
Staff are very nice and friendly and there are plenty of city maps and attraction flyers situated by the lift which helped a lot!
I absolutely loved staying here, I couldn't believe how cheap it was either! Would definitely recommend it, and would stay here again 100%. Thank you Hostal Centric for a lovely stay :)

If you're looking for good quality, great value accommodation in the heart if the city then this is the place!
The hotel is located in a fairly quiet street just 10 minutes walk from La Rambla and only 5 minutes from the Metro stations of either Universitat or Urgell. We came in from the airport via the Rodalies train, changing at Passeig de Gracia for the Metro L2 line (purple) to Universitat (1 stop). We purchased T10 cards at the airport station which allow 10 journeys across a range of city transport options at a cost of 10 euros. The journey I've just described counts as a single trip and therefore cost us the princely sum of 1 euro. This is much cheaper than either the direct Metro service (4.5 euro) or Aerobus (5.9 euro) although the train schedule is only every half-hour.
The hotel is easy to find, with banner signage either side of the entrance door and check-in was swift and efficient. Our room was smart, clean and modern with an immaculate bathroom. The only issue was the size, the room is really quite small, just accommodating the essential furniture with limited space to move around. To be fair, this is actually evident from the on-line photographs although we hadn't fully appreciated how tight space would be. Sleep quality was great - the beds and pillows were really comfy and both the hotel and surroundings were very quiet at night.
The hotel has no facilities other than a comfortable lounge area where there are vending machines for snacks and coffee plus FREE tea. You can buy a ticket at reception for breakfast at a nearby café, comprising orange juice, coffee, croissant and sandwich for 6.5 euros. We decided to take our chance on what we would find out there and were glad we did as many cafes offer breakfast combo deals of croissant & drink or sandwich & drink for only 2 or 3 euros. Check out 'La Catedral', a local café-bar at the top of the next street along (corner of Carrer de Muntaner and the busy main road) for good deals.
Hotels in Barcelona can be really quite expensive. If you are looking for good quality, city centre accommodation at a sensible price then Centric is a great option.

The Centric is termed a Hostal as it is without catering I believe. As a frequent business traveller (on the company dime) I would gladly stay here if booked by my company.

The location is excellent, with AirBus in the next street and a block north of the medieval Gothic Quarter.

On this trip I was travelling inland, so stayed here on my arrival and last night. Both rooms were lovely and one had a small balcony overlooking the street.

I love a good hotel bathroom and again these were faultless. There were even drawers to place toiletries in instead of making a mess on the vanity.

It's also located close enough to the gay district to stroll up without suffering nighttime noises.

The staff were more than polite and very helpful with good English skills. For example, my wheelie bag had broken on the flight out - I got directions to a luggage store marked on a map to follow!

Especially given the value, it would be hard to rate this Hostal more highly.

Good morning, My choice is also the Aerobús. You should get off the Aerobus at URGELL/GRANVIA (30' trip). You will be then only 3 blocks aways from the Hotel (Casanova 13). The AEROBUS costs 5.90€ (oneway) or 10.20€ (way&return). Do not hesitate to contact us for any doubt or further request. Best regards, Albert G.

You will be right in the city center. It is plenty of places around Hostal Centric to enjoy a morning coffee but the ones I like most are Fàbrica Moritz and Pannum. Less than 2min walking. There is an Starbucks in Plaça Universitat, which is only three blocks away.

The quieter rooms face the back side. The facade rooms might be noisier because of light traffic at night. Room requests are never guaranteed but we do our best to fulfill them. Best regards, Albert
