I've never been to this hotel, but due to travel restrictions, decided I would so some semi-local stays. The Marriott off peak points promo was a deciding factor. I spent 2 nights (one was a points stay, the other a revenue stay). As a Titanium Elite I was upgraded to a one bdrm suite with den with a view of the pond/village (west).

I felt very safe at the hotel. They require that you wear a mask indoors and there are strict cleaning protocols. Certain things have been removed from the rooms (hair dryer, ice bucket), but are available upon request. Also social distancing guidelines (2 people max per elevator, etc). Pool time has to be pre-booked the night before and you are allowed 90 mins. The staff then takes 30 mins to sanitize the pool area before the next group of guests comes in.

Breakfast on the patio at O&B was excellent. This hotel has not used the Covid excuse to skimp out on Elite benefits.

I had some issues with the first room I was assigned and Robin at the front desk was outstanding with the service recovery.

It was my first time at this hotel, but definitely won't be my last. Also the location right in Blue Mountain village is fantastic!

We booked the two level loft and were told that these rooms didn't face the water. The room across us told us they had the exact same room with a view of the water. LIE #1. These rooms are expensive... too expensive for what you get in my opinion.

The room itself has a smell. Probably because this is a dog friendly hotel which I did not like due to me being allergic to dogs. The furniture and room is getting old and is showing wear and tear- LITERALLY with scratches and dents on virtually all walls and furniture. The AC gets cold which was great in the summer. The small kitchenette in the room has a small two burner stove (no oven), dishwasher and bar sized fridge. There's an in room coffee maker that was devoid of a pot. You get two tea bags( Chamomile and English Breakfast), creamers and sugar/ sweetener which I liked. Cutlery, dishes, dish soap, and a frying pan are also given. The king bed was comfortable, but the upstairs Queen was not. The washroom shower was small and kept banging into the door so it was chipped.

The pool has a reservation system set up for ten which you have to call the day before. When I told the front desk that it wasn't heated, as it's supposed to be, they said the boiler was broken and it would be fixed by the evening. LIE #2. When I mentioned that the 10 person limit wasn't being enforced and there were more than ten people in the pool (15), they said the limit had just changed to 20. LIE #3. Do you see the trend here?

Please don't play your guests for a fool. Be honest. I will not be returning.

Most people wore masks when they needed to. I took Lysol wipes with me and wiped down every single surface for extra precaution.

Dear globefamily, Thank you for taking the time to post a review following your recent visit to The Westin Trillium House, Blue Mountain. We value our guest feedback and the opportunities that can arise to make improvements. We regret to see that you were dissatisfied with your accommodations and felt that you were deliberately misled by our associates, we can assure you that this would not be our intent. We are looking forward to moving forward with the hotels refurbishment project and in the interim our maintenance associates undertake routine maintenance and upgrades. Our larger units offer a full kitchen, perhaps a consideration if this feature is important. We are pleased to see that some of the amenities met with your approval. Yes, we have had to introduce a booking system for our pools in order to control capacities, guided by our local public health authorities. As we move through the stages of our Governments reopening plan, we look forward to welcoming more guests to our pools as restrictions ease. We did experience a service interruption with our boiler and regret that this impacted your pleasure at the pool, this has since been repaired. Our local public health authority assessed our pool facilities and established capacity limits for us to comply with, initially no more than 10 bathers. Just last week, this guidance was adjusted and capacity was increased, we apologize about this not being adequately communicated to all parties leading to a sense of deception. We pride ourselves on being fully transparent with our guests and associates and sincerely regret the poor impression you have taken away. Please feel free to reach out to us via info@westinbluemountain.com with particulars of your reservation, we would be more than pleased to investigate your concerns in depth and provide a detailed response. Yours in Hospitality, On behalf of The Westin Trillium House, Blue Mountain Kevin Kingsbury General Manager

We had a wonderful time. We are Mariott bonvoy elite members and were able to check in on arrival -much ahead of check in time, also given a room upgrade without request and a delicious welcome gift. These touches are what makes a loyalty program worthwhile for us and will make us loyal to the Mariott brand. We have previously always stayed at the Mosaic but chose the Westin this time as we brought kids and wanted to go to the Plunge splash pad (attached to the Westin). The bed and pillows are more comfortable at the Westin we found. The kids loved the outdoor pool, it was really warm out during our stay, they also loved the splash pad. We brought our own breakfast food and ate that in the room so we didn't eat at the hotel restaurant. We went to the village for the other meals. The hotel is very busy on weekends, staff were very busy but very friendly and helpful.

I called before making my reservation to ask about cleaning standards. I was assured by your staff that stringent cleaning was taken place and that the hotel was taking COVID seriously. Specifically, I asked about how the floors were cleaned because I have a 10 month old and he crawls. I was told that the "carpets were steamed cleaned in between stays". That was reassuring for my wife who was very concerned about the cleanliness of the hotel. It took a lot to convince her that it was safe to visit a hotel in this time.

Upon check in, we discovered a few things which really made me question if I was being told the truth about cleaning standards:

1) There was a used teabag in the kettle. Therefore, the kettle was not cleaned.
2) Dishes that were in the cupboard were not cleaned properly as there were food stains still on the dishes.
3) There were crumbs underneath the dining room table. I thought the carpets were steamed cleaned?
4) There were spiderwebs on the balcony furniture. Were they cleaned?
5) There were cobwebs above the bed that looked like they were going to fall while I was sleeping.

I talked to an agent via the chat about these issues and she did send someone to the room to vacuum the carpet. I then asked the agent if the carpets were steamed cleaned and she said they were "spot steam cleaned". That is very different from what I was told. How could there be crumbs on the floor if the floors were steamed cleaned?

The agent then said that "there have been many guests that have resanitized the room themselves to ensure that they are comfortable with the level of cleaning that has taken place; we completely understand that everybody has different levels of comfortableness with the risks associated with travelling right now."

That is a problematic response because it communicates that the cleaning deficiencies that took place where normal and that somehow I was responsible for cleaning the room up to my standards. The standards were actually set by the Westin, on their website and via their agent.

I was told that the cobwebs were taken care of, but when I got back, they were still there.

My wife was not happy. After trying to successfully convince her that the hotel was taking cleaning seriously and COVID seriously, the response and lack of understanding on the seriousness of the issue were very frustrating.

The agent did take off our parking ($20), but when I am paying $800+ a night for a dirty two bedroom suite, that really feels unsatisfactory. The steam cleaning issue felt particularly problematic for me -- is there a breakdown of communication between your staff who answer the phone and your housekeeping staff?

At best, I think the hotel has problem with their brand promise. At worst, your staff are lying to customers when we ask them questions about cleaning protocols.

Good Afternoono 237joshc, Thank you for taking the time to provide this detailed overview of your latest experience while visiting us at the Westin Trillium House, Blue Mountain. We sincerely appreciate your feedback and regret to learn of your displeasure with several aspects of your stay, most notably our cleaning practices in general and as they relate to COVID. We have the transcript of your chat session with our associates and can see that you inquired about our carpet cleaning practices to which we replied, "All of the non carpet floors are thoroughly vacuumed, and hand washed. Our carpeted floors are also thoroughly vacuumed and spot cleaned." We have not located any calls as described, the chat sessions extended through August 14th to August 18th, whereby we reiterated that the carpets are spot cleaned between guest stays on more than one occasion and regret your misunderstanding of our messaging. We cannot find any reference to dirty dishes in the cupboards but can see a request for multiple dishwasher tabs, which were delivered. We can see a request for spider webs in the bedroom, and an arranged time to have an associate enter the room to clear them. Additionally, we can see a report of crumbs on the carpet and a request for an associate to attend and vacuum. We completely understand heightened concerns around cleanliness and sanitization and can assure you that the resort has taken every effort to ensure our guest and associates safety, during these unprecedented times. We have provided sanitary wipes in our guest rooms as additional level of comfort for those wishing to disinfect themselves for a heightened level of comfort. This is not to say we have not applied all sanitization standards during room preparation, it merely gives each guest the option. We are pleased to see that our associates recognized your concerns and amended for the oversights by offering a goodwill gesture. Once again, we regret any misunderstanding with our explanations during the chat session and appreciate your kind understanding of these oversights. Yours in Hospitality, On behalf of the Westin Trillium House, Blue Mountain Kevin Kingsbury General Manager

The high price charged for our one bedroom plus loft did not reflect value received at this hotel. The biggest pluses were the hotel’s close proximity to the ski lift, the beautiful mountain view, and the attractive lobby and ground floor, Otherwise, our room was overdue for a renovation, particularly the bathroom. The room overall and kitchenette were cramped and poorly designed, and the shower was the smallest we have ever experienced in a Marriott chain hotel, and we have stayed at many. The corridors above the ground floor are very narrow and dark, more befitting of a Budget hotel. By far the most helpful and cheerful were the housekeeping staff, the front desk staff were hit and miss in helpfulness, and mostly unknowledgeable about the resort outside the hotel. There was no coffee available for the rooms’ outdated one cup slow coffee machines for our entire stay since the hotel ran out of it. Bottled water, towel changes, additional soap etc had to be called for each day, since rooms were not cleaned or serviced due to covid, until after three nights stay. We had a nice tasting dinner at the attractive hotel restaurant, with excellent service, but it too was somewhat overpriced in our opinion,

We stayed here in a two bedroom suite with extended family and had three kids three and under. It was great! The room was clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen area had everything we needed (pots, pans, dishes, utensils). We forgot our highchair and they were even so kind to bring us one from the restaurant.

The only improvement I would suggest would be to increase the heat on the outdoor pool.

Great spot!

This property has some positives and negatives.

On the plus side, they upgraded me to a nice room with a King bedroom and an "accesisble" room on request. On the negative side, the "accessible" room was nowhere near the elevator (one of my requests) and although the bathroom was completely accessible, both the bed and most of the room furniture were designed for very tall people. My friend had to leap into the bed most nights, and she has bad knees.

The balcony and fireplace were nice, it was easy to control the room temperature, and once we got into the bed, the blanket was wonderful. The kitchen was fully furnished for a three-course meal, if we wanted to cook one - pots, pans, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, fridge, dishwasher. Wow. Although it is odd that we had to request an ice bucket as a "high touch" item when they had dozens of "high touch" spoons and forks in the drawers!

Because of safety restrictions we had the pool all to ourselves for an hour. We swam at night, and the "heated" pool was barely up to the challenge on an Ontario fall. But we didn't want to broil in it, so that was O.K. And the bathrobes were comfortable.

Staff were all friendly, the few that we saw.

Enough people have complained about the parking garage charge that is hardly seems worth mentioning, but it IS steep. And the garage is small, but with my small car it wasn't too much of a problem.

I'm not sure we would stay there again, but it is well situated in cider country and a good base for exploring from. But you pay top dollar for it.

Due to Covid19 pandemic our original plans had to change so we decided to have our mini holiday at Blue Mountain. After checking the reviews we decided to stay at The Westin Trillium House to celebrate my husband's birthday. Right from the beginning when I have contacted the hotel with few questions I experienced a great customer service. When we arrived to the hotel I had a pleasure to deal with Pierre at our check in. His customer service skills are wonderful. He made the check in easy and informative with all the new Covid19 restrictions and information. Because we came here to celebrate my husband's birthday our room was upgraded, our parking fees were also discounted and he had beer waiting for him in the room!! Wonderful surprise. Now I call this a great customer service and a wonderful experience for us. The resort is very nice. Lots of safety rules in place because of pandemic which made us feel safe but it also made us enjoy our holiday. Village is very nice. Lots to do, good restaurants around. Pool outdoors is heated all year round, you have to book your times again because of pandemic but you can use it no problem. I would definitely recommend this resort and we are planning on coming back here again. Thank you for making our holiday a wonderful and safe experience.

Stayed in a deluxe room which looked exactly like on the hotel/Marriott site. Room was comfortable. Bed was good. Mattress not hard not soft. Blankets were comfortable and not hot. Room air conditioner wasn't too loud.

Couch could convert into a bed which wasn't advertised. Though the couch cushions themselves had no density as when sitting down I fell all the way through.

Sink, microwave and mini fridge in the room. Included plates and utensils which were great to have when bringing back restaurant take out to eat in the room. Coffee maker wasn't great as the coffee pods were too large for the small machine. Coffee maker also wasn't clean as a past room guest must've made instant noodles in it as my coffee came out oily and smelling like noodles.

Bathroom was a normal bathroom. Shower itself was good with waterfall option, strong pressure and quick to heat. Toiletries were the Westin "Heavenly" brand which came in bulk refillable bottles and easy to use.

Outdoor pool required reservations which was easy enough to do. Gym didn't have that many machines or weights. Actually the pool and gym were rather small considering the number of rooms at this hotel.

Parking is available underground with limited spaces and $20 + taxes.

Internet wifi speed incredibly slow. Was getting less than 2 Mbps during my stay. Was faster just staying on my mobile phone's 4G.

Standard TV in the room -- not a smart TV. TV was in a weird position as well being way too high if watching from the couch.

No soundproofing at all with the door. Could easily and clearly hear conversations in the hallway when lying in bed.

Service at the front desk was quick and fantastic.

Overall a fair room but not great value for money. Prices seem to fluctuate between $310 - $600 CAD.

Dear Smashing2, Thank you so much for this very thorough and detailed review, we sincerely appreciate the time you have taken to share these first hand insights from your recent visit. We're pleased to see that you had a satisfying stay and regret to hear that we did not hit the mark entirely for you. We are saddened to see that your coffee maker was not thoroughly cleaned and understand that this is a basic expectation. We will be sure to pass along this feedback to the leadership team within our housekeeping department for follow-up and coaching purposes. We are excited to inform you that our guest rooms are undergoing an extensive refurbishment, with the 4th and 5th floors nearing completion for summer use, the results are quite lovely. The balance of the rooms will enjoy the same upgrade in the fall of this year along with some of our common areas. Thank you for your kind remarks about our front desk services, the team will be very pleased to view your comments. Once again, thank you for this very helpful feedback and the opportunity to provide some clarity to your concerns. This was our first time to Collingwood/Blue Mountain. We just did a quick one night trip to get out of town. We booked a Queen Suite, we had a very large room with a den and bedroom (though I wish it would have been a king size bed haha). The room was ready early when we checked in. We had a nice room facing the village on the 4th floor. It's a very wide hotel, so if you have mobility issues you might want to ask for a room near the elevator - I prefer to be away from it to help reduce noise so this was great for me. The bed was very comfortable, and the view of the village and Lake Huron was great. Parking is $20 per night for underground parking. Lots of restaurant options all over the village. Staff were very friendly. Masks were worn by everyone and lots of sanitizer. No hair dryers in the rooms given the environment, but not a big deal. The room was very quiet and it was nice to be a bit further away from the village - which was very busy. There was a nice balcony to sit out on as well. I would definitely stay at the Westin again the next time I am back in the area!
