This hotel is CUTE! It’s quaint and felt clean. The location is amazing, and you can’t beat it if you’re catching the ferry. The ONLY negative was that is there is NO air conditioning. It was 30+ degrees when we stayed, and there were 4 adults staying in one room. There was one fan but all it really did was blow the hot air around, so it was just hot and windy inside the room. We didn’t sleep a wink that night. So just something to be aware of! There is also a little resident raccoon who was adorable, we enjoyed watching her from the balcony. Proximity to good food and drinks is great though.

Excellent service. The day before my visit there was heavy snowfall in the area causing severe power cuts.
The motel administrator contacted me well before my check in time advising of the power problem and suggesting to book me at another hotel.
I decided to stay there anyway. By the time I reached the motel the power was back up. I was impressed with the staff's friendliness and how accommodating the place was.
Quiet, clean rooms with traditional classic furniture and good views.
Definitely recommend it to everyone.

Ill start by saying that this was the only place I could find in horseshoe bay - I had a ferry booked for 7am so needed to be there at around 6am, so I needed to stay nearby.

This was the most overpriced place I have ever stayed, airport hotels are always expensive, but this was ridiculous.

I arrived at 6pm to find that the reception was closed up, there was a note saying to phone up. I was not able to phone as I do not have a phone that works in Canada, I was going to try and find a call box when a kind Canadian couple staying at the motel came over to see if I was ok, they called for me and I spoke to a lady who told me I was in room x and its unlocked so just go in. I would like to suggest another time that you maybe give the option of getting in touch via watsapp, as people from another country will probably have access to the internet if they don't have a normal phone line. Another helpful option which I have had at other places is for the property to email the guest and tell them what room they will be in, therefore cutting out this kind of unnecessary difficulty.

The room was furnished in the 1950s, dark wood, nothing matched, it was clean and tidy though.

I understand I was paying for convenience, but thats all I got, its an absolute rip-off.

This morning I tried to get in touch by phone with the Front Desk of the Horseshoe Bay Motel. Very early on in the morning I did get through but at that point I wasn’t ready to book a reservation. Later on I was and called back but I couldn’t get through. A message came on saying that I could leave my number and someone would phone me back. Unfortunately, I could not leave my number as the message mailbox was full. I tried calling again plus another number provided but no luck.

An hour or so later I called back. The woman who answered seemed to be giving me the “bums rush out”. Saying she had my number. She’d call me back they were busy getting rooms cleaned. It was about a reservation on the 25th. I found this response shocking. I felt completely unheard and annoyed. My reservation wasn’t about the 25 at all. When I asked her to stop and listen to me she continued to block me and I continued to get more annoyed. At one point she stated that getting the rooms ready was the priority. I felt further annoyed and protested. She began saying how I shouldn’t be talking to her that way It wasn’t very nice. I determined that I should phone back when someone else is on the desk or just book somewhere else and hung up. For this woman potential customers don’t seem too high in her priorities. This woman’s demeanour put me on the defensive immediately. Things are worse than I thought if this is the kind of treatment customers are expected to tolerate these days.

I reluctantly turned my key in the door, stepped into the Room, turned on the light, and my jaw dropped onto the beautifully-carpeted floor. The classical furniture is gorgeous, the TV is huge, the bathroom is beautiful, there is a mountain of soft pillows, the trim and paint are exquisite, and the carpeting, as I mentioned, is beautiful. There's absolutely zero reason I would have expected the room to be this nice. Check in was pleasant, the desk clerk was helpful, parking is good, everything you need is nearby, and the price is reasonable.

This place is tied for first as the most pleasant surprise I've had walking into a hotel room.

Dear Senioreeter, Thank you for sharing your wonderful review with the TripAdvisor community. When I first read the title of your review, "What the hell," my initial reaction was Oh No! My trepidation was instantly replaced with joy when I read further. Glad to know that our Assistant Manager, Naomi, was helpful and that your entire experience with us was more than just good! I almost hate to give this secret up! Once a year we make a trip up the Sunshine Coast and we like to be on the first ferry out of Horeshoe Bay so we need a place close so we don't have to get up too early. We always arrive late ( usually after midnight ) and the receptionist is always so friendly and helpful. It is such a nice start to our vacation! The rooms are reasonable, clean, and well stocked ( coffee, small refer, toiletries, micro wave). There are restaurants and shopping right there so convenient! The only words of caution I have is pay attention to the signs when heading to the ferry from the village...it can be confusing...not the motels problem...more of a BC traffic problem!

We stayed here as it was so convenient for the Horseshoe Bay Ferry to Vancouver Island, which we were taking at 6.30am the following morning. As others have commented, the motel has little kerb appeal and the rooms are tired. For what it is, it is overpriced and, in hindsight, we would have been better to stay closer in to Vancouver with a slightly longer drive in the morning. All the rooms face onto the well lit street and there is no blackout, the room doors have glass at the top with no curtain - we tried to hang a towel over the glass. The main light in the room didn't work and we had to share a coffee cup as there was only one. Our room was hot and stuffy. Horseshoe Bay itself is very pretty and there are plenty of places to eat.

Staff are amazing. Looks dodgy on outside, but really clean for an older motel. The walls are paper thin though - luckily for me the couple next door went to sleep early as i could hear their entire conversation, their TV - everything. IF you got night owls, or loud people next to you it would be diasastrous, also the floors creak and i know without a doubt anyone below me would hear a lot of creaking and foot steps - so get a top floor room. Great location - easy to catch ferry, so overnighting before ferry perfect. Starbucks 1 block away - and a nice area for a hilly hill side run at sun up to greet the day. I was amazed at how squeaky clean and nice the bathroom in my room (214) was, great water pressure

We stay at this Motel 2 or 3 times a year on our way up to our cabin on the Sunshine Coast. We have always been pleased with the how clean the rooms are, but more importantly the staff has always been absolutely fantastic. I just booked with them again for our spring break run up the coast. Not only did the lovely young lady on the phone recognize my sir name, but additionally remembered that there was a minor issue with the hot water (minuscule really) the last time we stayed. She apologized again for the issue during our previous stay, which was completely unnecessary given that the issue was rectified within about 2 minutes of us notifying them at the time. Given that there are not many options in Horseshoe bay for over night stays, it would be easy for a business and staff to become complacent. Instead, the staff at the Horseshoe Bay Motel have gone the complete opposite direction. Their customer service is spectacular. I wish I could find staff like that for my own business.
