Although the hotel itself is nice, my favorite feature of this hotel is the staff. From the minute we walked in the front door they were friendly and so unbelievably helpful. They gave us directions. Called taxis when we needed them. Printed out our online tickets for la Sagrada Familia. On the ground floor they have coffee machine and hot water and tea bags, comfortable social area with couches and a tv. Also, they have a book shelf where you can just go choose a book (or leave one). Throughout the hotel they have handwritten notes on postcards with awesome little travel related sayings. ... they also put these in the rooms. Made me smile every time I saw one. Room has a small refrigerator stocked with drinks and snacks... prices decent for in room mini bar. Location is good. Bus stops are close by. . Underground (Pl Molina) within steps... Las Ramblas 3 stops away (take the L7 to Catalunya).
My only negative with this hotel is that the bed was very hard. I did not sleep well.

Cheap hotel (around 50 euros a night) slightly out of the centre of Barcelona. Good value for money the hotel only offers breakfast in the way of food which we didn't bother with as it was 13 euros and the cafe over the road was good and cheap. Right next to an underground station, although this is the Ferrocarrils line (FGC) and not metro, but it is easy to change to a metro line at Catalunya. Only difficulty is getting to and from the airport via underground and it is 3 trains, or two and a walk in between which is what we did. Alternatively on the way there we took a train to Barcelona Sants and a taxi to the hotel from there was only 11 euros. The hotel seems to be in a bit of a business district and the hotel recommended we didn't eat in any local restaurants but head into Barcelona which we did (best restaurants were found at the bottom of Passeig de Gracia- we liked tapa tapa and divinus, they weren't overpriced as many on the Rambla and by the beach are). Hotel staff on the whole were friendly and spoke some English- enough to get by with our bit of Spanish (although Catalan is quite different). We had very friendly maid service everyday and they will come in until 1pm if you like a lie in. Hotel was very clean and well presented with free internet access in the lobby. Rooms quite large, nice on suite and good air conditioning. Also has sun blocking shutters- be warned they work so well you may sleep longer than expected! Tele and mini-bar in room- they didn't seem to mind us putting our own things in the mini fridge. Overall very pleased for the price and it's not on a dodgy side street off the Rambla which is always a bonus (we went off track in the middle of the day and found ourselves in uncomfortable prostitute land). We would go back here.

We enjoyed a week’s stay in the hotel. Next to metro station and easy access to central Barcelona. Room is a bit too hot during the night so we had to keep the window open. Nice lounge and good tea there.

We arrived at the Pol and Grace hotel after the train trip from Malgrat de Mar in the morning before we could check into our room. First impressions were great as the reception/lounge area was very modern, relaxed and clean.
As we were too early to check in we left our cases with the guys on reception so we could go and start exploring. They helpfully printed off the metro information for us to get to the Sagrada Familia and away we went.
We got to the Sagrada but there was a 4 hour wait to get in but you can buy your tickets and then return at a stated time.
We did this and then got on one of the tour busses which take you on a tour of the city which lasted about 2 hours. You can get on and off these busses if you want to visit somewhere specific and you get headphones to listen to the guides information which is supplied in many languages. There are two separate tours which cover different aspects of Barcelona so pick which one suits you.
We got back and grabbed a bite to eat and then went into the Sagrada Familia. We had paid a bit more for the use of a small hand held unit with headphones which gave information as you walked around the church.
I have spoken to lots of people who have visited the church but not been inside.
If you visit you MUST MUST go inside.
We have visited many places of architectural interest but NOTHING compares to this church.
We have never seen anything else as beautiful and architecturally stunning as this building, it literally takes your breath away. We spent over 3 hours there and could have probably stayed longer.
We then returned to the Pol and Grace and went into our room to freshen up.
The room was large and very clean with a decent sized bathroom and probably the largest bed i have ever slept in. There is a small fridge which has some items in it which incur an extra charge if you consume them but there is also a decent sized safe which is free to use, just follow the instructions.
There is a small flip chart in the room with all the information about the hotel you need.
We then went to a small Italian restaurant just around the corner which was very good.
The following morning we went and had a look at the breakfast on offer but decided to eat out instead. There was never any pressure on us to have the breakfast at €10 each but if you want it they will just charge it to your room.
We had breakfast at a small patisserie instead which was a couple of doors down from the Italian restaurant. It was simple, fresh and we also got baguettes to take to the race.
After breakfast we took a taxi to the bus station and caught a bus to the Circuit de Catalunya to watch the Grand Prix. When the race was over we caught the bus back and then a taxi back to the hotel. On our return we had complimentary tea and coffee from the machine in the lounge area which was welcome and refreshing. This is only available at certain times though.
If you plan to do a trip like this getting around is easy using taxis, metro, bus or train and it all works very well.
We took advice from the people on reception on where to eat and went to a small cafe/restaurant called Tris Tras in the square. We ordered some tapas and the food, wine and beer were all excellent.
Next morning we went to the same patisserie and had another simple freshly prepared breakfast with coffee as well as food to take on the train for the journey to Calella.
We then went back to the hotel and checked out.
One minor gripe is that i could not get a connection to the hotels wifi. To be honest wifi in 3 out of the 4 hotels we stayed in was poor at best.
Overall this is a quality hotel with very helpful staff which is located close to a metro station making getting around very easy for us.
I would recommend the Pol and Grace if you need to stay in Barcelona slightly away from the main tourist areas but still within easy reach of the sights of this beautiful city.
I will apologise if i have rambled on too much about Barcelona but it really is an amazing, beautiful city and we only stayed for two nights, one day of which was for the Grand Prix.
