I thought the hotel and restaurants were great, but I feel it was the employees that made our stay so satisfying. There are too many to mention but there a few that stood out. We loved our evenings at the Beach Bagel Bar with the gracious and friendly Diony Morales, the great cook Nancy Cortes and the attentive bartender Feliciano Chimeo. At the Bagel bar during the day the waiters Vanessa, Yamin Jimenez, and bartender Jose were always attentive, friendly and upbeat. Manual Abad from the spa continued to be friendly and attentive even after we had our massages in the beginning of our 2 weeks there. I was impressed with the friendliness of all the employees!!

We just returned from a week at Sandos Caracol. This is our third trip to the area. We travelled with two kids, ages 6 and 10. You had originally booked one of their basis rooms, but were able to upgrade to Royal Elite when we got there. We were so happy we did. There is a definite difference between the categories. Our original room in building 25 was in need of some TLC. The Royal Elite room in building 6 has been updated and was right off the family pool area. Also very close to the beach, sports bar and Laguna Buffet Restaurant. The upgrade also allowed us access to their select club adults area, but we did not use that as we were travelling with kids. Keep in mind that if you upgrade to Royal Elite, but are not a Royal Elite Vacation Club member (timeshare), that you cannot use the Royal Elite pool and beach area....we found this out the hard way. It was quite easy to get dinner reservations through the concierge desk in the lobby. We tried the Italian, Japanese and Brazilian. All were good, but we liked the Japanese the best. You can also make breakfast and lunch reservations at the Italian restaurant. My 6 year old daughter loved the kids club. They went swimming at the Cenote, went on treasure hunts and off to the kids water park. My 10 year old loved the sports bar area. It had pool tables, ping pong and air hockey. Do pack mosquito repellant for the evening walks. They have it at the resort, but it quite strong for kids. The nightly shows really are great. The spa was amazing. The resort is adjacent to Playa De Carmen, so it is a 10 min drive to the 5th Ave shopping district. Lots of cabs waiting at the resort. The beach was very nice, but the swimming area is quite small. Looking forward to another visit in the future.

My family of four stayed at this lovely hotel, which has lots of restaurants onsite, and would definitely recommend El Templo. Teppanyaki (Fresh Chinese - all cooked in front of you) and Los Lirios (Succulent steaks and tasty fish - eat as much as you can fit inside of your stomach) the buffet restaurants offer lovely, fresh juices and their omelettes aren't too bad either. As we don't eat pork and this resort loves to cook pork, we found the food options to be rather repetitive and limited. Word of warning, unless you're inside of your hotel room, air condition around the resort is very limited/non existent and the mosquito's don't play, it's a free for all - make sure you have strong repellent with you at all time - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
The evening entertainment is out of this world, you can tell from the performers, to the custom changes, even the lighting, shows that a lot of money has gone into this area, each night is a different theme and very entertaining for all ages, we stayed for 10 days and got to see Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Marvel Hero's, Mayans spectacular show plus a few more - the auditorium does get very packed, very quickly and there is NO air conditioning whatsoever - drinks bar is very close by though. The Spa is nice, and boasts an open roof pool - lovely! It's very clean but doesn't allow anyone under the age of 16 which was a drag, as countries such as Egypt and Turkey encourage youngsters to partake with their parents, there's also a gym available. The resort has a small farm, which stinks no matter what time of day you visit, the rest of the resort remains immaculate throughout the day and we did indulge in a bike ride around the resort - a few times - which was great to do as a family and leads you onto an Iguana beach (They are very large and seem menacing but don't bother you at all) and there's also an option to use Segway's if you prefer.
The worst thing about this resort is that it does not offer rooms with adjourning doors for families, so when we initially checked in, we were given a nice sized room, consisting of a huge California King sized bed. After I complained to the bookings clerk that I had no desire to sleep with my two children plus husband for the next 10 days, we were offered another room, which wasn't entirely to my liking, but did allow me to sleep alongside my husband comfortably, and alone, and our children had large, comfortable bunk-beds - but still all inside of one room, called SIGNATURE ECO SUPERIOR. We also got to dive and then swim with various, beautifully coloured fishes and turtles at the resort - free of charge - it was very memorable and a thoroughly enjoyable experience for my whole family. The resort also offers a romantic boat ride, if that's your thing and it's included in your costs.
This resort is nice, but with so much space, lots more could easily be offered onsite. Forgot to mention, you can order room service - FREE OF CHARGE - do offer the waiters a good tip though. Lastly, there are loads of Coati's running around the resort, they don't appear to be aggressive at all and look very similar to a Raccoon's which are also present onsite, and we saw a family of monkeys on our balcony, which was different! When you come across the Coati's and Raccoons, be careful as they will want your food, once fed they will come back in droves for more! Staff onsite are excellent at batting unwanted animals away, word of advice any unsupervised food / beverages will be stolen by the animals and their pals! Enjoy Mexico.

Was a very interesting place to stay. A bit of everything. Small zoo, wild life, water park and a beach. The older Mayan sidewalks were on the rough side, so walk carefully. The water park was good also. Only bad thing was my 2 sons, one was too short for the larger slides, and the older son was too tall for the middle of the road slide. My younger son could have easily handled the larger slides as he has been to some other water parks with similar rides with no issues. The lighting at night on the sidewalks needs to be improves, Also in our room the bathroom door squeaked really bad, and they need to change the lay out to have the fridge with the water cooler and coffee maker. the spa was really nice and I took the time for 2 massages. Well worth it. No issues with drink or food. As for bugs, they never really bothered me. you are in the "jungle".

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your Sandos Caracol experience. We have taken all your feedback on board and this will be used constructively to perfect our future guest´s experience. We do our very best to ensure our guests are taken care of, from the moment they arrive until the time of departure. We greatly regret the situation with your children in the slides, that is why we always recommend our guests verify stipulations on height for the use of the slides. We are also flattered that you enjoyed our spa, as well as our variety of foods and beverages selection. Thanks for your time. Rest assured that we will give the utmost consideration to your constructive criticisms. Thank you for staying with us and we hope you will give us another opportunity to serve you. Kindest wishes,

Sandos Caracol is a great choice. It is all inclusive in terms of food, gym entertainment. spa is extra. the service is really great- the staff tries very very hard to make your experience positive.

Send regards to Arnatza - manager. She has a tight ship. The entire staff is very hard working and very friendly.

The food is good- lots and lots of choices. Can satisfy any palate. as others have mentioned- there are 3 buffet restaurants and 3 a la carte. Honestly i opted for the buffet. - la laguna is the largest with most choices- there is a banquet at every meal, every day. choices of fish, beef, pork, seafood (shrimp, calamari,) quail, salads, fresh fruits, veggies, desserts.... there is a gym onsite... you will need it :)

There are many pools on premises. some especially for the kids.
Hotel and the property is very very pretty. the pictures on the website are 100% accurate.
My favorite part of the vacation was seeing the culture, histroy.Don't miss out seeing the history of this amazing region. If your goal is just to lounge and drink you are missing out on the real Mexico. Take a tour to Chichen Itza. It is indeed one of the places "to see before you die." Tulum is another great Mayan site. Coba is as well.
.Another great option is Xcaret- an eco park. The main attraction is the spectacular show at the end of the day. there are travel reps onsite who can book all your travel excursions.

Don't hesitate with this resort. You will have an amazing time. Dont forget the sunscreen! :)
