My family of four stayed at this lovely hotel, which has lots of restaurants onsite, and would definitely recommend El Templo. Teppanyaki (Fresh Chinese - all cooked in front of you) and Los Lirios (Succulent steaks and tasty fish - eat as much as you can fit inside of your stomach) the buffet restaurants offer lovely, fresh juices and their omelettes aren't too bad either. As we don't eat pork and this resort loves to cook pork, we found the food options to be rather repetitive and limited. Word of warning, unless you're inside of your hotel room, air condition around the resort is very limited/non existent and the mosquito's don't play, it's a free for all - make sure you have strong repellent with you at all time - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
The evening entertainment is out of this world, you can tell from the performers, to the custom changes, even the lighting, shows that a lot of money has gone into this area, each night is a different theme and very entertaining for all ages, we stayed for 10 days and got to see Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Marvel Hero's, Mayans spectacular show plus a few more - the auditorium does get very packed, very quickly and there is NO air conditioning whatsoever - drinks bar is very close by though. The Spa is nice, and boasts an open roof pool - lovely! It's very clean but doesn't allow anyone under the age of 16 which was a drag, as countries such as Egypt and Turkey encourage youngsters to partake with their parents, there's also a gym available. The resort has a small farm, which stinks no matter what time of day you visit, the rest of the resort remains immaculate throughout the day and we did indulge in a bike ride around the resort - a few times - which was great to do as a family and leads you onto an Iguana beach (They are very large and seem menacing but don't bother you at all) and there's also an option to use Segway's if you prefer.
The worst thing about this resort is that it does not offer rooms with adjourning doors for families, so when we initially checked in, we were given a nice sized room, consisting of a huge California King sized bed. After I complained to the bookings clerk that I had no desire to sleep with my two children plus husband for the next 10 days, we were offered another room, which wasn't entirely to my liking, but did allow me to sleep alongside my husband comfortably, and alone, and our children had large, comfortable bunk-beds - but still all inside of one room, called SIGNATURE ECO SUPERIOR. We also got to dive and then swim with various, beautifully coloured fishes and turtles at the resort - free of charge - it was very memorable and a thoroughly enjoyable experience for my whole family. The resort also offers a romantic boat ride, if that's your thing and it's included in your costs.
This resort is nice, but with so much space, lots more could easily be offered onsite. Forgot to mention, you can order room service - FREE OF CHARGE - do offer the waiters a good tip though. Lastly, there are loads of Coati's running around the resort, they don't appear to be aggressive at all and look very similar to a Raccoon's which are also present onsite, and we saw a family of monkeys on our balcony, which was different! When you come across the Coati's and Raccoons, be careful as they will want your food, once fed they will come back in droves for more! Staff onsite are excellent at batting unwanted animals away, word of advice any unsupervised food / beverages will be stolen by the animals and their pals! Enjoy Mexico.
