What is the role of the State Mental Health Agencies (SMHAs)?

SMHAs are the state entities with primary responsibility for providing and facilitating publicly funded mental health and support services to children and adults with mental illnesses. SMHAs report the MH-CLD data in accordance with the reporting terms and conditions of the BHSIS Agreements funded by SAMHSA.
