We caught up with Liam Lynch from KPMG who is chairing the Stimulating and Incentivising working group for the National Policy on Philanthropy being implemented by Department of Rural and Community Development. Philanthropy Ireland is secretariat for this group along with the Communications and Awareness working group. Liam provided an update on the progress of the group and detailed why he got involved. The working groups for the policy are a fantastic example of stakeholders from government, academia, public and private sectors coming together to further the social impact that is achieved through strategic philanthropy.

📣 New member alert! A huge welcome to The 5 Ten Trust to our philanthropy community. The 5 Ten Trust is dedicated to supporting children in the North West of Ireland in reaching their full potential in whatever path they choose. Their main aim is to break barriers and help build futures by providing financial support in the form of grants to children experiencing economic or social hardship in order for them to fulfill their ambitions. They work with local secondary schools and develop strong relationships enabling them to create carefully targeted grant making activities for individuals and groups. They support projects and programs that are impactful in reversing social damage caused by educational disadvantage, poverty, or exclusion experienced by children and young adults. They have developed programs with educators at both primary and secondary level to support employability and resilience skills for all. They are a big proponent of a “pay it forward” principle among all participants. We look forward to learning from their philanthropy journey and sharing our own knowledge and insights.

Knowledge Sharing from the international philanthropy community! ⚖️The Good Council in Austria has redistributed €25 million euros from Marlene Engelhorn's inheritance to 77 initiatives. Is this the way forward for philanthropy, especially for the next generation of philanthropists? Earlier this year, Marlene Engelhorn set up a group of 50 people to work out how to distribute the millions she inherited from her grandmother. With Inter-generational wealth transfer currently an estimated €9 Billion in Ireland there is huge potential to support the next generation to engage in philanthropic giving. With younger philanthropists like Marlene paving the way in exploring new options to deomcratize giving and support causes that are in need rather than focusing on the priorities of individual donors. https://lnkd.in/eFcK2mRY
