Truly inspirational to see Mona McSharry a “little girl from Sligo” pick up Ireland’s first medal at the 2024 Olympic Games. We’re hoping it’s the first of many with other Irish athletes competing in rowing, sailing, boxing and swimming across the course of today! #teamireland #olympics #olympics2024 #olympicgames #sportingsuccess Swim Ireland Rowing Ireland Boxing Union of Ireland

Athletes from all over the world and across many different sports and disciplines will descend on the banks of the Seine in Paris this evening for the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games 2024. The pinnacle of sporting achievement, the games will last for over three weeks and will culminate in the awarding of the prestigious gold, silver and bronze medals. Sporting achievements like these are to be rightly celebrated and as we countdown to the Games’ launch, we celebrate some of our own sporting heroes who have achieved so much success at a grassroots level, like our recent clients: St Patrick’s Rowing Club, Flight Gymnastics Academy, Carlow Hockey, Newcastle West Tennis Club, Ballina Boxing Club and a whole host of other amazing community-led sports clubs with a can-do spirit, striving to improve the sporting facilities for the people living in their local area. #Olympics #Olympics2024 #Grassroots #Sports #SportsFunding #GrassrootsSport #OlympicSpirit

Our clients Bonmahon GAA recently shared how assistance from Community Finance Ireland helped them better deliver social impact in their local community: “Previously we had a seasonal facility that was well used in the summer but not the winter months due to lack of appropriate facilities and floodlights. The support we received from CFI allowed us to transform a derelict piece of wasteland into an essential component of our club and modern facilities that we can offer to people locally and further afield. We now have a well-used resource being utilized all year round. More groups are using the facilities including other GAA clubs, other sports & activity organisations.” #SocialImpact #socialvalue #Community #SocialFinance #GAA #Sport #SportFunding

Community Finance Ireland agrees with NI Communities Minister Gordon Lyons that better facilities at grassroots levels must be supported. So if you missed the announcement last month of a new £13 million loan fund for NI community, social enterprises and sports projects you will be interested in this. Offering a pipeline of fair, flexible and fast finance to grassroots sporting and CLG community projects, since its announcement there is already £4 million released to aid community projects in Northern Ireland. Our CEO Dónal Traynor MBS LIB QFA and head of CFI NI Phelim Sharvin were on hand as the first client Crusaders Football Club availed of this new source of funding and Minister Gordon Lyons paid a visit to say congratulations. You can read all about this unique collaboration here: https://lnkd.in/eHryDJzg Our thanks to the Department for Communities for their trust in our ability to ensure that the funds will be directed to those that will benefit most from loans that support their sustainability and social impact. #socialfinance #northernireland #sports #supportingcommunities #sportingprogress #supportinggrassroots
