as a hearing impaired, hearing-aid augmented person, @MikeKuniavsky nails it on the topic of distributed cognition. In some aspects technology can add to your inputs, but in others like noise-cancellation it can subtract so you can focus. With hearing-aids going OTC there is a ripe landscape for AI developers to lean in.

Unlocking Transparency in Generative AI: A Call to Action for Tech Leaders 🚀 As technical product management leaders, we're no strangers to the transformative power of AI. Innovation boundaries are being pushed and it is time to prioritize AI transparency. 🤖 A recent article in CIO Dive highlights the importance of transparency in generative AI, citing the need for vendors to provide clear explanations of their models and data practices. 📰 full article here: https://lnkd.in/g9ymE4ux The stakes are high: without transparency, we risk perpetuating biases, compromising user trust and undermining the very foundations of our AI systems. 🚨 So, what can we do? 1️⃣ Demand transparency from vendors: As customers, we have the power to demand clear explanations of AI models and data practices from our vendors. Open source models (IBM Granite, Meta Llama-3, Mistral) offer more transparency than proprietary models like GPT or Gemini. 2️⃣ Develop in-house transparency: As leaders, we must prioritize transparency in our own AI development. This means implementing explainable AI, model interpretability and transparent data practices. 3️⃣ Foster a culture of transparency: Encourage open communication and knowledge-sharing within our teams. That will help create an environment where transparency is a default behavior. The future of AI depends on our ability to prioritize transparency. ➡ The California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) is drafting new rules on use of artificial intelligence (#AI) and automated decision-making technology (#ADMT). Why is this important? 1️⃣ California is home to many of the largest tech companies and each will set the course for many others 2️⃣ California has been an early adopter of technology and governance. The CPPA can immediately enforce rules as soon as they are finalized. 3️⃣ With the pace and use of #GenAI, regulation is only apt to pick up, as well. IBM also has a legacy of #techforgood! Exciting news! From the White House: "Microsoft will invest $3.3 billion in a new datacenter. Microsoft is committed to creating good-paying jobs with growth pathways and comprehensive benefits such as paid family leave. Microsoft will pair its datacenter investment with a commitment to investing in innovation and workforce in Racine and statewide. Microsoft will partner with Gateway Technical College to develop a Datacenter Academy that trains 1,000 Wisconsinites for datacenter and STEM roles by 2030, and will employ up to 2,000 people in permanent roles at its Racine facility. And, Microsoft will build a Co-Innovation Lab in southeast Wisconsin, as well as team up with the startup accelerator Gener8tor to train 1,000 business leaders to adopt AI in their operations, so that Wisconsin manufacturers can seize AI’s promise. Together, these investments will position the industrial heartland to lead the way in industries of the future."

Very thoughtful analysis. Worth a read. My 2 cents: it seems that the 2 companies (NVIDIA & Apple) that have the lion share of TSMC most advanced capabilities might indeed have a small moat for now

Google AI Edge already enables you to deploy several popular LLMs on-device such as Gemma, Phi, Falcon, and StableLM. And now, with the Torch Generative API, you can author custom LLMs using PyTorch. Interesting to see that GPT-4 costs $5.25 where as Claude-3 costs $10.84 and Google Gemini-1.5-Pro only costs $0.86.
