Do You know Informuta yet? Check them out one of our latest episodes, in this #StartUpSpotlight #startup #techbio #AI #Biotech
Creativity, Connectivity & Communication in Biotech, AI & Healthcare | Moderator + Keynote Speaker + Impact & Equity Driven Partner
Informuta is a Tulane University School of Medicine start-up that is presenting this week at the Biotechnology Innovation Organization Investor forum in SF - learn more about them on this episode of BIO from the BAYOU, and find them in person in SF this week! Founders Kalen Hall and Leonard Williams can tell you even more - but some quick info follows: "Informuta’s mission is to provide clinicians with precision diagnostics for antibiotic resistant infections using machine learning and our proprietary data analytics platform on next-generation sequencing data. We are the first and only to predict the antibiotic resistance profile of a bacterial infection, predict if that infection is likely to become resistant during treatment, and track infection spread at the patient-level in real-time, all from just looking at DNA. Our first product is a comprehensive report that compiles this detailed information and is rapidly delivered to clinicians, serving as a diagnostic tool that enables effective precision treatment of antibiotic resistant infections." https://lnkd.in/gH6bK57H

As a systems biologist, you learn very quickly how dynamic biology is, and about the complex interplay between different layers of regulation (genome, epigenome, transcriptome, proteome...). At times, the key to understanding regulation of some processes is the change in phosphorylation of a single-site of a single protein. However, examples like histones and the 'histone-code' have shown us how important ensembles of proteoforms (the many molecular forms of a protein product arising from a specific gene) can be in driving the function or malfunction of a system. In the latest episode of Translating Proteomics, Andreas Huhmer and I discuss how and why proteoforms are made, why proteoforms are important, and how a better understanding of them could give rise to a new wave of #biomarkers and precision medicines. Join the conversation and let me know what you think about this important area of biology! https://lnkd.in/dri4BWAk

On the latest episode of “Commercializing Living Therapies with CCRM,” guests Sonia Sennik, Creative Destruction Lab (CDL), and Glenn MacLean, CCRM, discuss how the processes and resources of CDL can help startup founders drive their discoveries to market. CDL’s #advancedtherapies stream, a partnership between CCRM and CDL, supports founders solving biological, medical and health care problems using innovative applications of cell and gene therapies, and other biological products. In this clip, Sonia Sennik speaks about CDL’s emphasis on diverse mentorship for early-stage founders, enabling a venture’s success through collaboration. “CDL very much is focused on the mentorship of early-stage founders. It’s all about setting the right objectives in eight-week cycles and being able to bring in a distributed set of folks with different backgrounds, different experiences, all looking at the same venture and all working together to collaborate on ‘hey, what really are the three most important things that this company should be doing over the next eight weeks?’ If you were to just get that information or just get that advice from one person, you’d be constrained with the experiences of that one mentor. So, a really important part […] of how we run CDL and what we bring together is connecting these mentors together. They collaborate in the small group meetings with the ventures, they speak to them together and, also, in the large room discussions, we have everybody participating in the same conversation with the venture in the room.” Listen wherever you stream podcasts, or at the following link: https://lnkd.in/daTWUkEF #CCRMPodcast

In #biology class and in popular science stories, we're encouraged to think about DNA and genes as determinants of the rest of biology. DNA and genes are important, but there's a growing movement that recognizes DNA is far from the end of the story and, in most cases, cannot be used to effectively predict or direct what form and function biological systems will take. Proteins on the other hand, direct most biological functions and studying their many complex activities and interactions over biological space and time can vastly advance our understanding of biology. In our new podcast and video series, Translating Proteomics, Nautilus Co-Founder and Chief Scientist, Parag Mallick, and Nautilus Senior Director of Scientific Affairs and Alliance Management, Andreas Huhmer, discuss how #proteomics, the study of all proteins in a biological sample, has matured enough that it's tools can be leveraged to study all manner of biological phenomena at the a molecular, functional, and mechanistic level in a way that will revolutionize how we think about biology. In this first episode of the series, Parag and Andreas discuss why we're poised for proteomics to break into all aspects of biological study. In future episodes, they'll discuss such wide-ranging topics as proteomics and #drugDevelopment, how the proteome changes in space and time, and how proteomics challenges us to refine our thinking about the central dogma of biology. I'm very excited that we're getting this series off the ground and can't wait to hear what you think of it.
Announcing our new #podcast and video series “Translating Proteomics” 🎙️ In this series, our Co-Founder and Chief Scientist Parag Mallick and Senior Director of Scientific Affairs and Alliance Management Andreas Huhmer explore the science of #proteomics and its growing impact on all biological research, #BiomarkerDiscovery, #DrugDevelopment, food and energy security, and a range of other timely topics. They’ll share their perspectives on important issues in proteomics and challenge assumptions about what may be possible.
