Sounds like a model that needs to be practiced more and awareness of it spread more widely. Whilst its hard to see that any progress has been made, to the contrary - it looks like 0 progress made and everything got worse, with recent years breaking through the 1.5C targets. We mustn't give up hope that the many initiatives that have been kicked off as a result of these agreements, have prevented worse things from happening... too optimistic? maybe But working in the sustainability and SDG space has never been more exciting, with many people sharing that a just transition to a more sustainable, de-growth and circular economy is, ...possible. The questions is how fast, to prevent worse things from happening (Climate Catastrophy, Ecological Collapse, ...the list is getting longer). Currently the ANNUAL financing gap to the 2030 SDGs is (according to UN estimates), around $4 trillion. This is the same as Germany's or Japan's Gross Domestic Product. This is a staggering number and concept that the money missing to achieve the SDGs is the same as the monetary value of ALL finished goods and services made in Germany or Japan on an annual basis. And yet, the world economy is worth around $100 Trillion, so $4 trillion = 4%. That ...almost...sounds doable? too optimistic? maybe When it comes to asset managers, total discretionary assets under management (AUM) of the 500 biggest managers amounted to USD 113.7 trillion at the end of 2022, down by 13.7% from the end of 2021. The largest, BlackRock, manages $10 trillion and the next biggest 2, Vanguard ($9 trillion) and Fidelity ($4 trillion). Surely, investing into solutions on a planet that is actually liveable with resources being consumed at a sustainable pace is what its at? Otherwise, what will be managed in 20 or 30 years?

The AAPI Civic Engagement Fund is one of the largest collaborative funds mobilizing Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in civic engagement and movement building for systems change. Launched in 2013, the Fund supports grantmaking, capacity-building, and research. 💡 Only 20 cents out of every $100 philanthropic dollars (0.2%) is designated for AAPI communities, despite Asian Americans being the fastest growing racial/ethnic group in the U.S., increasing by 81% between 2000-2019. Asian Americans make up 6.1% of all eligible voters. Several EGA member foundations, including the MacArthur Foundation, Surdna Foundation, THE JPB FOUNDATION, and Unbound Philanthropy, support the AAPI Civic Engagement Fund in strengthening a multiracial democracy by driving AAPI civic engagement and resourcing AAPI-led nonprofits. 🗳️Learn more about the Fund: https://lnkd.in/eb7kzfMt #AANHPIHeritageMonth

I'm so excited to tell you about what we are building now at Fields of View, with support from Indian School of Development Management (ISDM) 's CDSSI Fellowship. Introducing *drum roll* E-QLT! * EQLT is a simulation tool that takes 100+ variables of a household into account, to assign a Social Protection Score to them. Below 300 and the household is vulnerable. So, we can identify the most vulnerable households in our communities, identify how exactly they are vulnerable (to health risks, to climate risks), and do targeted interventions. * We can simulate the effect of schemes and benefits on the Social Protection of a household. So, we can see which households a direct cash transfer, for example, will make more secure, and which households it will make more vulnerable. We can identify the exact basket of schemes and benefits tailored to the need of every household to lift them out of vulnerability. But that's not even the most exciting part! For the first time we are building EQLT as an open public data platform, that any CSO can use to do targeted interventions in their communities.
