The recent Supreme Court decisions, and elections in the UK & France, are key examples of moments where opportunism is dividing us and pushing us further towards ends of a spectrum. It's important to recognize that the "me vs. them" or "them vs. us" viewpoints used by far-right politicians is a tool, not an intrinsic truth about our world. As we reach the midpoint of our week, we're returning to a topic that most of us experience often, even daily: #urgency. The feelings of anxiety, stress, pressure, and fear that come up when things need to be done RIGHT NOW. This feeling is conditioned externally by the never-ending flow of things that actually do need to happen right now -- but it's also a habit that we internalize. When we find ourselves in situations where things feel urgent (whether or not they are), the feelings that arise are usually focused on what we fear will happen. This fear turns our focus away from the present moment and onto the future. This is why mindfulness is such a powerful tool, and something that we've built into how we work as a team here at BE MORE with Anu. By learning to notice what we're feeling, what we're sensing, and where our minds are going, we can redirect our attention to align with our intentions, not our fears.
