At just 25 years old, he is leveraging his viral platform to fund acts of jaw-dropping generosity. 🤝 Undoubtedly capturing the world’s imagination and facilitating incredible impact — the ‘Beast Philanthropy’ approach is controversial and celebrated. A thought provoking report by Rhodri Davies in the Journal of Philanthropy and Marketing which raised some interesting questions around Mr Beast’s approach... → Ethics: Do his videos empower or exploit? How do we balance agency, consent and power dynamics? → Economics: Does clickbait incentivise engagement over systemic impact? Some of the UK’s poorest areas gave the most to Charities in 2023...the generosity of the British Public is just inspiring. 🎉 Despite the challenging financial pressures nearly *£14 billion* was donated to charitable causes in the UK. As ever, the annual Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) UK Giving Report highlights some fascinating insights: → Significant increase in total donations from £10.7 billion in 2021 to £12.7 billion in 2022.  → Record-breaking total to the emergence of 1 million ‘Super Givers' → Number of people regularly donating to charity had fallen from 65% to 58% When considering these insights against the backdrop of inflation — the charity sector could face a real-term income drop of £800 million between 2022/23 and 2023/24, as estimated by the Office for Budget Responsibility. 📈 Which leads to the real questions… How can we inspire continued generosity and encourage individuals to contribute more? When visiting a new country or city — where’s a must visit? For me, it’s always a Museum. They are so important to our social fabric. Each one has something to say, about the history and values of societies past and present. I’ve been totally struck by how proudly Cape Town wears its history — Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa is no exception.
