  • The Nyinkyim Museum, founded by Kwame Akoto-Bamfo, archives African history, symbolism, and traditions through art, capturing the essence of the Black journey across the diaspora. The museum provides a sanctuary for reflection and inspiration, with each artifact echoing the voices of our ancestors. As members entered the museum, they were surrounded by the rich tapestry of African history and culture. The compelling exhibits and narratives transported us to a world where the past and present intertwine, highlighting our people's resilience, creativity, and determined spirit. ELC members were welcomed "home" by the museum guides, who led us through exhibits showcasing the brutal actions taken against our people during their capture and journey to a new world. This impactful moment connected members in deeply meaningful ways. The visit to the Nyinkyim Museum reminds us to celebrate all parts of who we are and to use our legacy to strive for excellence, advocate for justice, and never forget. #ELCInAfrica #Accra #HonoringOurAncestors #ELCMembers #BlackExecutives

  • ELC President and CEO Michael Hyter, was featured in the Savoy Article "Survey of Top Black Executives in Corporate America Reveals Current State of DEI." Amid the rising tension and legal challenges against diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, a new survey by the ELC reveals a resilient commitment to business enhancing DEI among top Black executives. This survey exclusively engaged top Black executives, providing invaluable insights into the priorities and strategies that should guide DEI efforts. The survey, released during The ELC’s annual Summer Member Meeting, identified the best ways to improve DEI across Corporate America. In addition to maintaining or increasing ethnic diversity at all levels of leadership and management, three main themes emerged as the most effective approaches for companies moving forward: - Treat DEI like other known business drivers in companies - Instill clear measurement mechanisms to determine and reinforce which DEI strategies work best to drive business outcomes - Remain steadfast in support of DEI to grow the business even as anti-DEI fervor increases Read more https://lnkd.in/ea5Qb56U #ELC #BlackExecutives #DEI #BlackCorporateMoves

  • The Executive Leadership Council (ELC) celebrates Pride Day stands with our LGBTQ+ community. From civil rights activist James Baldwin to the first Black lesbian to serve in any state legislature in the country, Simone Bell, our Black LGBTQ+ trailblazers have long made history with innumerable contributions to politics, art, medicine, and many other fields. “As long as there have been Black people, there have been Black LGBTQ and same-gender-loving people,” says Dr. David Johns, executive director of the National Black Justice Coalition. Bayard Rustin: Civil rights activist and key advisor to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Rustin organized the 1963 March on Washington and was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Simone Bell: A community organizer who served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2009 to 2015 James Baldwin: One of the greatest American writers and thinkers, Baldwin openly addressed racism and homophobia and made significant contributions to the civil rights movement. Audre Lorde: A self-described “Black, lesbian, feminist, mother, poet, warrior,” Lorde made lasting contributions to feminist theory, critical race studies, and queer theory. Today, we recognize and celebrate our community's diversity, resilience, and excellence. #PrideDay #PrideMonth #Diversity #Equality

  • Bronx native Roya Marsh reflected on the impact Audre Lorde has had on her artistry. “My relationship to Audre Lorde’s work is one of close connection. Mostly because of her Blackness and her lesbian identity. Beyond that, her audacity to take up space in a time when Blackness itself and then Black womanhood was condemned on a daily basis.” GLAAD is a non-profit organization advancing LGBTQ acceptance through fair, accurate, and inclusive representation through global, national, and local programs. Executive and Leadership Coach, Keynote Speaker, Facilitator, Expert OD/HR Consulting on Managing Change

I am honored to be a part of the Adjunct faculty at the The Executive Leadership Council (ELC) … Today, I co-led led a course for current and aspiring leaders with an amazing and esteemed coach and colleague Olu Burrell, MSOD, PCC . It was a powerful day, field with growth mindset, emotional intelligence, and how to be strategic in your career. Then, later on tonight I hosted an optional workshop for the conference attendees , that I designed .. The title of the session was “ How are you black man?”.. In this session we created a safe space for black men to talk about how they’re really doing at work and in their personal lives… I was anle to share the stage with another esteemed colleague and friend Dr. Gamaliel Cherry, whom was an ultimate contributed to this workshops design.. I am grateful that there are spaces for Black people to excel as leaders at work. The ELC is committed to support “ black faces, in high places” … what a joy and privilege, that I get to do this work. I love while making an intentional impact .. I am thankful for every single participant who contributed and engaged in the sessions today (and this week)… For me, there is no greater joy than working in your passion and walking in your purpose … PS, adding some selfies of a couple colleagues and friends whom I am thrilled to share this platform and space with .. Andre W. Thornton and Ranieka Weston, PCC, SHRM-SCP thank you for your friendship and always keeping me motivated and challenged in this work!

So excited to kick off Day #2 of The Executive Leadership Council (ELC), Leadership Development Week! So many amazing gems here to help me grow in my career journey! Today, I want to share two gems 💎 that have resonated with me so far this week: - Focus on your Purpose and decrease your energy on areas not pouring into your purpose. - Be comfortable being uncomfortable! Stay consistent, seek feedback, and take on the challenge!! #ELC #LeadershipDevelopment #CareerGrowth #Feedback #Challenges #NOLA

    Onboarding Team Leader

I'm incredibly grateful for the chance to have participated in the The Executive Leadership Council (ELC) Leadership Development Week 2024. It was an inspiring experience to be surrounded by such a remarkable group of people. Meeting and connecting with successful Black leaders was truly motivating, and their insights and experiences will undoubtedly be valuable as I move forward. Beyond the connections, I especially appreciated the opportunity to be vulnerable and share openly within a safe and supportive space. This type of environment is crucial for growth, and I'm thankful for my facilitators Galen Bingham & Dr. Tan Morales for providing it. As I reflect on the week, there are three concepts that stand out in a powerful way: 1. There is no safe way to be courageous 2. The concept of professional disturbance 3. The privilege of representation Additionally, a huge thank you to Fidelity Investments, specifically Taeshima White, CFP® , for this opportunity to connect with amazing leaders from around the globe. A special thank you to all those I met this week who played a part, large or small, in creating an extraordinary week of empowerment and evolution. Looking forward to attending more ELC events in the future. Cheers!! #fidelityassociate

What an AMAZING week packed full of learning and development! The Leadership Development Week held by The Executive Leadership Council (ELC) in New Orleans exceeded all my expectations. What an experience to not only hear the journeys of successful black executives but also be in rooms with powerful peers on our journeys to our Northstar leadership roles! Again, thanks to my leadership team at Unilever for realizing my potential and equipping me with the tools needed to continue reaching my goals. Looking forward to strengthening the bond with my Unilever peers who were also selected, as well as the new relationships with the members of my esteemed cohort Strengthening the Pipeline II! #LDW2024
