We’ve been all hands-on-deck through the night as Hurricane Beryl made landfall with sustained winds of 80 mph and bringing the threat of flash flooding. We’re continuing to monitor conditions and impact to our system. As soon as safe to do so, you’ll see our crews headed out to start assessing damage and developing restoration plans. Stay safe and shelter in place, if possible. For outage count and safety tips, visit https://lnkd.in/gN6PTUuR

At CenterPoint Energy, we’re investing in technology that helps reduce both outage frequency and duration. In just the first five months of 2024, system automation devices saved 3,381,895 minutes of interruption and prevented 115 sustained outages. That’s a lot of time you could spend streaming your favorite shows or shopping at your favorite store. Fewer truck rolls help reduce carbon emissions, too. It’s a win-win and just one way we’ve hardened our infrastructure for improved reliability and resiliency. Hear from Service Area Director Colby Gravatt on the benefits of using this technology in the Greater Houston area and learn more about the improvements we’re making: https://lnkd.in/gzUgKSND

We won’t soon forget the sight of toppled transmission towers brought down by the destructive winds of the May 16 derecho in Houston. Our crews worked as quickly and safely as possible, using our rerouting technology, to restore power to thousands of impacted customers until permanent repairs could be made. Within 10 days of the storm, and in coordination with city and state officials, we had a temporary solution in place to carry the power that serves our customers in Northwest Houston until permanent structures are rebuilt.

We recently hosted the 2024 Energy Efficiency & Technology Conference where we connected with our Minnesota business customers and trade allies. Attendees heard about the latest technologies from industry leaders and learned how they can leverage rebates and programs under Minnesota’s Energy Conservation and Optimization (ECO) ACT to lower their business’s energy use, carbon footprint and earn rebates. Pictured here is Brad Steber, Vice President, Minnesota Gas, who presented at the conference. Our team wants to give a special acknowledgment to customers and trade allies who received awards for their support of our energy efficiency programs in 2023, including: Mystic Lake Casino Hotel, JayHawk Mechanical, ADM – Archer Daniels Midland (Mankato), Westwood Community Church and Sustainable Energy Savings, Inc. We appreciate everyone who joined this year and look forward to next year’s conference! To learn more about our energy efficiency programs and rebates for businesses, visit: https://lnkd.in/gtVQB74P
