My favorite book within this series is Blood Promise (Book 4), which is one of my favorite books of all time. However, the book that truly made me a hardcore fan of the Vampire Academy was Shadow Kiss (Book 3), the final part enthralled me and trapped my heart.
I do have some issues with Book 5 and 6 regarding Rose's relationship with Adrian, her thoughts and actions regarding him and Dimitri. It bothered me, and I don't really see how it was that relevant to the story. The way the relationship unfolded made little sense to me, specially because of the small time-lapse everything happened in. If we had had a much longer time interval, her feelings and thoughts would have made more sense to me. As it is, it lacks affective responsibility, which I think is what bothered me most.
The audiobook narrator is very good. My first time with these books was by paperbacks, after that, all my rereads have been by audiobooks.
I highly recommend this series, both to YA and adults, females and males. It is just great.
P.S.: The movie is appallingly TERRIBLE and does an atrocious disservice to these books. It should be staked in the heart! [image]...more

It made me feel, that is why although there are many things that might have bothered me, like the huge age gap (18 years), and some other stuff here and there, I can make allowances in this case because the story and the characters completely trapped me. In addition, the sex scenes were pretty hot, so bonus! I love it when I can't put a book down. That already tells me most of what I need to know, regardless of all the reasoning and criticism I could give it. I read to feel, and this book made me feel. Last night, I had to force myself to stop reading so I could get some sleep, then I went back to reading as soon as I had the chance this morning and I didn't stop until I finished the book. (Being in a lockdown can have its benefits sometimes, like having a flexible timetable to read as much as you want. It's nice seen something positive in this difficult time, even if it is with silly things, anything to keep our spirits up). That is already a win for me. Anyway, if you can't get past the age-gap (18-36) stay away from this book, if you can deal with all that, it is only fiction after all, then go ahead and read it....more

I really liked this book.
I need to admit that I am a bit dissatisfied with the events towards the end. This book could have been a 5 stars review for me, were not for a couple of simple things. The first half of the book is really funny. I laughed a lot, and had a lot of fun reading it. After that, the romance developed nicely and I enjoyed it a lot. Where it felt short for me was at the very end. The end was very abrupt, forcefully dramatic and it left me unsatisfied. The conversation that creates the conflict and drama in the end seems out of place and unjustified. It is there to create that break on the characters, and based on their trajectory up to that point, it feels artificial, an easy way out to resolve the relationship. To me, it was unbeilable, unjustified and poorly done. The story was going so well, that to botch it right on the very last 20 minutes is tremendously disappointing and frustrating. Also, I felt like I needed more story, more book from right before that moment on, there was simply no context to end the book so quickly. It needed and actual conflict written and developed in the story with a coherent resolution, not a patch at the very end.
Besides that, the book was pretty enjoyable, the romance was cute and I loved it....more

I wish I could have read it back then, it would have been one of my favorites, so I am giving it 4 stars, mostly, to honor that. Right now, I see many places where the story could have been improved, made more dramatic and angsty, some miss opportunities to make the story more engaging. But overall, it is an entertaining and enjoyable story and I quite liked it....more

I had so much fun reading the story of these two, there was so much tension between them, that I couldn't help being hooked in their adventurous drama. I do admit that here, I had to consciously heavily apply willing suspension of disbelieve, otherwise my logic wouldn't have let me believe the driving obstacle between the couple and I wouldn't have been able to enjoy the story. Luckily, I was able to put my critical thinking aside for a bit and enjoy this romance.

Wow, what a story. Truly lovely.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The way the two main characters came together was beautifully done and I have to admit I spend almost the entire audiobook crying like a marshmallow. The struggles the characters face, and their actions feel real, clean and undramatized.
In my opinion, the two books in this series are quite special. They both have the particularity of making you feel emotionally quiet and calm, while being emotionally wrecking at the same time, and by the end, they make you feel peaceful.
