Baby boy Nixon Scott Horn was born on July 4, 2024, to Maddi and Tanner Horn of Wadena. He weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. He was delivered by Doctor Hala Madi at Astera Health in Wadena. Proud grandparents are Scott and Lisa Horn; Sue and Larry Sorem; and Dennis Johnson.

Doug Mansfield, 70. of East Gull Lake, received the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award on June 22, 2024 at the Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport. This is the most prestigious award the FAA can bestow upon an airman and is reserved for aviators who have exhibited exemplary aviation expertise and safety for at least 50 years. The award was presented by Nikolas Halatsis of the FAA in a surprise celebration attended by family and friends.

Baby boy Thorwald Anthony Mailand was born on May 3, 2024, to Connie and Marc Mailand of Hackensack. He weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces and was 21 inches long. He was delivered by Allison Freese-Johnson, certified nurse midwife at Astera Health in Wadena. Proud siblings are Thatcher, Terrah Thadia, and Teagan. Proud grandparents are Grandma & Grandpa Mailand and Grandma & Grandpa London.

We will be gathering on Saturday June 1st, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. to celebrate Olivia at 9802 State 64 SW, Motley, MN 56466. The s ervice begins at 11:00 a.m., t urkey dinner will be served from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. f ollowed by a social hour and a bonfire. We would love for you to join us! A limited number of guests will be allowed to stay and camp on the property for the evening.

Don and Betty (Smith) Olson were married on October 3, 1953. Today, we honor their Platinum Anniversary, marking 70 years of commitment. Together, they raised 5 children, welcomed 10 grandchildren, and celebrated the joy of 18 great-grandchildren.
