Did you know we train midwives all over the world? 🌍 These midwives travel for hours to rural locations, to create lasting change for children the moment they're born. They go where they’re needed most – from war zones and refugee camps, to borders and remote communities. It's the very first of many ways that we help create lasting change for and with children. ❤️ Learn more about our maternal health work: https://bit.ly/43WkQGa #SaveTheChildren
About us
Save the Children exists to help every child reach their full potential. In more than 100 countries including the UK, we help children stay safe, healthy and keep learning. We lead the way on tackling big problems like pneumonia, hunger and protecting children in war, while making sure each child’s unique needs are cared for. We find new ways to reach children who need us most, no matter where they’re growing up. For a century, we’ve stood up for children and made sure their voices are heard. We wrote the treaty that sets out the rights of every child, and we’ve been upholding them every day since. We know we can’t do this alone. Together with children, supporters and partners, we work to help every child become who they want to be.

🚨 Somalia is at the forefront of the climate crisis 🚨 Prolonged droughts have destroyed crops and livestock, causing extreme food insecurity. This has led to: ⚠️ 3.8 million people leaving their homes ⚠️ Almost 2 million children put at risk of acute malnutrition ⚠️ 40% of the population needing humanitarian assistance On a journey back to his birthplace, Save the Children ambassador Sir Mo Farah met mothers who told him heart-wrenching stories of how climate change had made it difficult to feed their families. He also visited our health centres, where staff diagnose, treat and prevent malnutrition to help create lasting change for children who need it the most. Frank, 8, read a whopping 22 books (including one from the Harry Potter series) and raised £700 plus Gift Aid for children 🤯 He was affected by the state of the world and knew he wanted to do something to help. His mother, Sophie, mentioned to him that she used to fundraise for Save the Children when she was younger which sparked the idea. Frank is a passionate reader, so decided to use his love of books to help other kids 📚 Great job, Frank! You can still donate via his JustGiving page: https://lnkd.in/eP5-QYi5

It's been 17 years since the Government of Israel imposed a blockade on the Gaza Strip. Children and young people in #Gaza have lived through almost two decades of conflict and deprivation, impacting their mental health, medical access and education. It is no surprise that the lives of children in Gaza have been described as “hell on earth” by UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres. In 2022, we carried out research to see the impact that living under blockade and protracted instability and cyclical violence has had on children’s psychosocial wellbeing in Gaza. 🔴 80% of children and young people reported emotional distress 🔴 9 out of 10 children were feeling less safe alone 🔴 Each child had an average of just 4.5 hours of learning a day We spoke to children about their hopes and dreams for the future if the blockade was removed.
