Proud to stand with every child.

About us

Save the Children exists to help every child reach their full potential. In more than 100 countries including the UK, we help children stay safe, healthy and keep learning. We lead the way on tackling big problems like pneumonia, hunger and protecting children in war, while making sure each child’s unique needs are cared for. We find new ways to reach children who need us most, no matter where they’re growing up. For a century, we’ve stood up for children and made sure their voices are heard. We wrote the treaty that sets out the rights of every child, and we’ve been upholding them every day since. We know we can’t do this alone. Together with children, supporters and partners, we work to help every child become who they want to be.

Did you know we train midwives all over the world? 🌍 These midwives travel for hours to rural locations, to create lasting change for children the moment they're born. They go where they’re needed most – from war zones and refugee camps, to borders and remote communities. It's the very first of many ways that we help create lasting change for and with children. ❤️ Learn more about our maternal health work: https://bit.ly/43WkQGa #SaveTheChildren

Today, we're unveiling our latest joint report with Centre for Mental Health and Children and Young People's Mental Health Coalition (CYPMHC) shedding light on the profound link between child poverty and mental health in the UK. Key findings: 👉 Poverty emerges as a significant driver of mental health issues among children. 👉 1 in 5 children and young people in the UK have a diagnosable mental health problem. 👉 Children from the least well-off 20% of households are 4 times more likely to experience mental health issues by age 11. 👉 Children from marginalized groups are disproportionately affected, often facing higher rates of poverty and barriers to accessing mental health support. Our report underscores the urgent need for action across social security, health and education to protect children’s wellbeing. Join us in advocating for these vital changes to secure a brighter future for our children #EndChildPoverty #MentalHealthAwareness #ChildLock

At least 84 people have reportedly been killed by Israeli forces in one day, including 24 children, in attacks in Khan Younis, Gaza. Thousands of families fled the airstrikes following new relocation orders that gave insufficient time for civilians to know from which areas they are required to leave or where they should go. Israeli military forces continue to shrink the area of the zone they have declared “humanitarian”. There is nowhere left for families in Gaza, and wherever they go, they still risk being targeted. There must be an immediate permanent ceasefire. The UK government must immediately suspend arms exports and licenses to the Government of Israel, and hold perpetrators of grave violations against children accountable. #CeasefireNOW #StopTheWarOnChildren #Gaza

Nothing we can do about climate change? Try telling that to children. Nature is their world and they experience it up close. The feel of wet grass on bare feet, of warm sands, cold seas. The sound of rain on rooftops. The joy of rolling down a grassy bank. At the same time, the death of nature is real to children too. So while world leaders sit around and talk, we’re working with children to take down-to-earth action Junior, aged 16, lives in the Solomon Islands, where rising sea levels and increasingly ferocious storms flatten homes and kill crops. But Save the Children is helping him and his friends adapt for challenging times ahead, running training sessions on climate-resilient farming such as which crops grow best in extreme weather. Join us. Together, we can create change that lasts for generations to come: https://bit.ly/4eTzSBE

We're in Keir Starmer's constituency to remind him of the impact the cruel 2 child limit has on 1 in every 9 children in the UK, punishing those with two or more siblings through capped financial support. Some solutions don't need a task force. Scrapping this one policy could lift over 500,000 children out of poverty. Keir, it's time for YOUR government to scrap the #2ChildLimit

💚 Want to know what keeps us hopeful? 💚 Working with incredible, nature-loving children around the world to protect livelihoods and the environment. ✅ In Cambodia, 12-year-old Ratana receives eco-lessons and equipment provided by Save the Children. This has empowered her class to save the lake they live on and love. ✅ In the Solomon Islands, bees pollinate trees that both act as storm barriers and as carbon sponges. We’re helping families like Lucy’s, aged 4, to set up beekeeping businesses and work in harmony with the hive-dwellers. ✅ In Indonesia, 12-year-old Atika and her farming community are reviving their treasured but drought-stricken fields with solar-powered systems and sustainable farming techniques, provided through training from Save the Children. ✅ In Sierra Leone, we’re helping passionate eco-warrior Abdulaye*, aged 11, mobilise his whole village to plant new mangrove trees to defend against rising seas You can put your own love of nature into action and build lasting change for children – find out how: https://bit.ly/4eTzSBE #ClimateCrisis *Name changed

We’re thrilled to share that our 'Summer of Play' 2023 campaign was a huge success and has been nominated for an award! We believe every child should have the chance to enjoy the summer holidays, filled with fun, freedom, and time with friends. They should have returned to school or started nursery equipped and ready to learn. That’s why in Summer 2023, Save the Children UK and In Kind Direct formed a powerful partnership to support parents, caregivers, and charitable organizations. Together, we ensured children had the opportunity to play, learn, and live well. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our Summer of Play 2024 work this year! #AwardNomination #SummerOfPlay #EveryChildDeservesToPlay 👇 https://lnkd.in/eHa_bKdE
