Proud to stand with every child.

About us

Save the Children exists to help every child reach their full potential. In more than 100 countries including the UK, we help children stay safe, healthy and keep learning. We lead the way on tackling big problems like pneumonia, hunger and protecting children in war, while making sure each child’s unique needs are cared for. We find new ways to reach children who need us most, no matter where they’re growing up. For a century, we’ve stood up for children and made sure their voices are heard. We wrote the treaty that sets out the rights of every child, and we’ve been upholding them every day since. We know we can’t do this alone. Together with children, supporters and partners, we work to help every child become who they want to be.

Did you know we train midwives all over the world? 🌍 These midwives travel for hours to rural locations, to create lasting change for children the moment they're born. They go where they’re needed most – from war zones and refugee camps, to borders and remote communities. It's the very first of many ways that we help create lasting change for and with children. ❤️ Learn more about our maternal health work: https://bit.ly/43WkQGa #SaveTheChildren

Israeli weapons packed with small pieces of shrapnel are causing devastating injuries to children in Gaza. Every day, 10 children lose one or both legs due to blast injuries and thousands more have been killed. Shrapnel can also leave smaller entry wounds, but cause horrific destruction inside the body. With Gaza’s health system decimated, children being treated lack adequate pain relief. Healthcare workers don't have access to morphine and are having to treat blast injuries with paracetamol. This just isn't right. The children of Gaza need action. Not words. The UK Government must immediately suspend arms to the Government of Israel and demand an immediate and definitive #CeasefireNOW. For most of us, climate change seems remote and theoretical. But that’s not the story for children. Nature is their world – a place for imagining, exploring, escape. But for many, the natural world is under threat. Temperatures between July 2023 and June 2024 were the highest on record (Source: Copernicus Climate Change Service July 2024). Children should be climbing trees, not watching them burn. That’s why, while world leaders sit and talk, we’re working with children to take down-to-earth action. Like Atika, age 12 from Indonesia (climbing the tree in the top half of this image). Save the Children has helped build a a solar-powered water system in Atika’s community, providing clean drinking water and irrigation for the crops they rely on for food. And we’re teaching farmers sustainable agricultural techniques, so they can grow food even in an increasingly extreme climate. Join us. Together, we can create change that lasts for generations to come: https://bit.ly/4eTzSBE

While world leaders sit around and talk, we’re working with children to protect our planet and help them thrive.🌿💚 In the arid mountains of Guatemala, 11 year old Anabely is often found climbing trees and exploring the outdoors. She even writes poetry about her love for nature and animals. This poem is called: 'Thank you Planet Earth!' It features Anabely's beautiful drawings. But her friends and family once went hungry, struggling to grow enough to eat in the country’s notorious Dry Corridor. Now they and farming families like them are growing plenty of nutritious food using the drought-resistant seeds and eco-friendly agricultural training Save the Children has given them – so much food, in fact, they’re supplying local schools too! We owe it to children to protect nature, for today and for tomorrow. Find out more about how we're tackling climate change: https://bit.ly/4eTzSBE

🚨 Somalia is at the forefront of the climate crisis 🚨 Prolonged droughts have destroyed crops and livestock, causing extreme food insecurity. This has led to: ⚠️ 3.8 million people leaving their homes ⚠️ Almost 2 million children put at risk of acute malnutrition ⚠️ 40% of the population needing humanitarian assistance On a journey back to his birthplace, Save the Children ambassador Sir Mo Farah met mothers who told him heart-wrenching stories of how climate change had made it difficult to feed their families. He also visited our health centres, where staff diagnose, treat and prevent malnutrition to help create lasting change for children who need it the most. Frank, 8, read a whopping 22 books (including one from the Harry Potter series) and raised £700 plus Gift Aid for children 🤯 He was affected by the state of the world and knew he wanted to do something to help. His mother, Sophie, mentioned to him that she used to fundraise for Save the Children when she was younger which sparked the idea. Frank is a passionate reader, so decided to use his love of books to help other kids 📚 Great job, Frank! You can still donate via his JustGiving page: https://lnkd.in/eP5-QYi5
