It’s election day! I’m at MAD//FEST 2024 to start the day, WPP founder Sir Martin Sorrell spoke about what the elections could mean for the advertising industry. We know Labour is likely to come into power in the UK in the next 24 hrs, but it won’t be easy. There’s going to be”little room to moneouver” and chances are they’ll be tax rises. Across the pond in the US, Biden is likely to be replaced - perhaps by Kamala Harris - and that could make a real difference in the presidential elections in November. Sorrell warns that while another four years of Trump in power maybe “good for business in North American” it would be “disastrous” for the rest of the world.
