Sorens can’t tolerate any other tribal for top post, says BJP

Ranchi: As JMM-Congress-RJD alliance govt again affected a leadership change on Monday by bringing back Hemant Soren as the new chief minister replacing Champai Soren, opposition BJP has dubbed it as an insult to a stalwart tribal leader.
Hemant, who was arrested by the ED in connection to land scam cases on January 31, walked out of jail after securing bail from Jharkhand high court.The developments paved way for his reinstatement as the CM following marathon meetings with ruling alliance partners and MLAs at his residence since Monday morning.
Close to 7.30pm, Champai submitted his resignation before governor C P Radhakrishnan. Hemant, who accompanied him along with other senior leaders of the coalition partners, simultaneously submitted his letter to stake claim.
Reacting to it, Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam CM and BJP’s Jharkhand co-incharge for upcoming assembly polls, wrote on X: “The removal of a senior tribal leader from the post of Chief Minister in Jharkhand by the JMM and Congress party is deeply distressing. I am certain that the people of Jharkhand will strongly condemn this action and firmly reject it.”
Back home, state BJP president Babulal Marandi added that Soren family can’t stay away from power. “Soren believes in monopoly on power and it will never allow any other tribal outside the family for the top post. It’s an insult to CM Champai Soren while in office,” he said, adding that JMM leaders, who gave blood and sweat for the party, must consider it as a big lesson.
He also took a dig at Hemant being re-elected as the leader of the ruling block. He said, “Soren family only knows how to use and throw people as per their convenience. Champai, who is called as ‘Kolhan tiger’ has been turned into a mouse.”
