Kochi: Centre has informed that Rs 5,337.00cr has been released as 15th Finance Commission grant to panchayats in
Kerala till June 28, 2024.
In a statement, the panchayat raj ministry said that it is yet to receive a reply from Kerala furnishing details on state finance commission, which is a mandatory condition for release of grants after March 2024.
It issued the clarification in the wake of media reports alleging Centre’s negligence in releasing grant to the grama panchayats in Kerala.
The ministry said the govt of India released Rs 3,774.20cr as 14th Finance Commission grant to grama panchayats (2015-16 to 2019-20) and Rs 5,337.00cr (as on 28.06.2024) as 15th Finance Commission grant to them (2020-21 to 2026-27) in Kerala.
