Today, on World Youth Skills Day, we recognize the immense potential of young people in shaping urban environments. This day highlights the critical need for youth to acquire skills for employment and entrepreneurship. The Cities for Youth (CFY) program is dedicated to empowering young individuals through innovative, data-driven, and youth-led initiatives. CFY is committed to fostering an enabling urban environment, providing youth with access to growth opportunities in our cities. Through comprehensive training programs, we equip youth with essential skills that help them excel in their careers and entrepreneurial endeavors. Our leadership programs focus on engaging youth to enhance public spaces, fostering safer and more inclusive urban environments. These young leaders, particularly from underrepresented communities, collect data, conduct safety audits, and lead transformative initiatives with their peers. With 70% women participation, CFY is at the forefront of promoting gender equality. We foster leadership, create youth hubs, engage in policy advocacy, and amplify youth voices to influence city planning and decision-making. By empowering young leaders to take ownership of their cities, CFY is driving meaningful change and building a more inclusive and safe urban future. Let's empower youth and transform our cities for a safer, better tomorrow. Safetipin's presentation on the Women on the Move Transforming Transport in Asia (WotM Asia) network highlighted the incredible strides women are making in the transport sector. Excited to see the continued growth of the #WotM Asia network and its impact on promoting sustainable, zero-emission transport across Asia. The NDC Transport Initiative for Asia (NDC-TIA) Regional Conference is underway in #Bangkok this week, focusing on transformative steps towards sustainable, zero-emission transport by mid-century. On June 27, 2024, Safetipin, serving as the Secretariat, highlighted the inspiring journey of the Women on the Move Transforming Transport in Asia (WotM Asia) network at the conference. The #WotM Asia network connects women working in the transport sector across Asia, providing a platform for engagement, experience sharing, and mutual support. It empowers more women to enter the transport sector through mentorship and exchange programs, offering a unique women's perspective on decarbonizing transport and promoting integrated and innovative approaches. During the session, Dr. Kalpana Viswanath emphasized that all our goals are interconnected. She noted, "Women have always been on the move. Movement, mobility, and public space are at the heart of urban living. It’s the public arena that is special in cities and the reason why we have constant movement. There is something in the urban spirit, and women have always participated in it. Let’s put women as role models for sustainable transport as they are moving more sustainably anyhow. Women are disproportionately affected by climate change. It’s about getting women on the move in the world." We are Looking forward to growing the network and continuing to champion gender inclusivity in sustainable transport, ensuring women play a central role in shaping our zero-emission future. #SustainableTransport #GenderEquity #Decarbonization #UrbanMobility #WomenInTransport Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH Women In Urbanism Women in Transport Urda Eichhorst Changing Transport Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative All Things Urban Asian Development Bank (ADB) The World Bank UN Women Asia and the Pacific
