Tentang kami

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been working in Indonesia since 1975. The country office is in the capital Jakarta. Indonesia has been classed as a middle-income country since 2007. The country is a member of G20 – the Group of Twenty of the world’s major industrial and emerging economies – and plays a significant role in the region. Jakarta hosts the Secretariat of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Indonesia is therefore one of the global development partners of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). These are emerging economies that play a crucial role in achieving international development goals. GIZ is working in Indonesia on behalf of BMZ. Other parties that commission GIZ to carry out projects include the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), the German Federal Foreign Office and the European Union. German-Indonesian cooperation focuses on three priority areas: - Energy - Environmental protection - Technical and vocational education and training (TVET)/economic development It also covers the cross-cutting issues of good governance and cooperation with the private sector. Indonesia plays a key role in the context of BMU’s international cooperation because of its importance for climate change mitigation and biodiversity conservation. GIZ’s office in Jakarta is also responsible for regional projects implemented in conjunction with the ASEAN Secretariat. The regional cooperation between Germany and ASEAN that GIZ supports concentrates in the areas of Environment & Climate Change, Regional Economic Integration and Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Development. 🎯 The nationally determined contributions (NDCs) are pledges by countries to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in accordance with the Paris Agreement. These commitments include policies and measures aimed at meeting global climate targets. Indonesia is preparing its Second Nationally Determined Contribution (SNDC) document, which is scheduled for submission in August 2024, ahead of the 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan. 🌡 The SNDC will be implemented from January 1, 2031, to December 31, 2035, and aligns with the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. It includes Indonesia's 2030 FOLU Net Sink target, additional sectors and sub-sectors, 2019 baseline emission levels, and commitments to strengthening climate adaptation, action, and reporting systems. 🌏 The International Climate Initiative (IKI) interface project in Indonesia (IKI Hub Indonesia), implemented by GIZ, has organized the IKI mini-roundtable exchange on June 24, 2024, in Jakarta. This event focused on the contributions of IKI projects in Indonesia to the formulation and implementation of Indonesia's NDC. 🗨 Attended by 42 participants, the exchange aimed to identify contributions to the NDC, facilitate comprehensive exchange and coordination among IKI project implementers, and ensure alignment to maximize the impact of IKI support for the Indonesian government’s NDC efforts. 🤝 Furthermore, by submitting a second NDC, Indonesia will reinforce its commitment to fulfilling its climate pledges. This effort will enhance Indonesia's leadership in climate action, advancing the nation towards a sustainable energy transition and a resilient future. #IKIHubIndonesia #NDC #SNDC #GIZIndonesia

That single-use plastic bag you tossed? It's sneaking back into your life as microplastic, infiltrating every corner of our environment 😱   As a #biodiversity powerhouse, ASEAN hosts about 30% of the world's coral reefs and up to 33% of its mangrove forests. The invasion of microplastics could have catastrophic effects on this vital region.   Tiny yet pervasive, #microplastics, smaller than 5 mm, roam more freely than their larger counterparts, infiltrating soils, air, and waterways—both fresh and marine. Their widespread presence underscores their critical threat, making them a key focus in the ASEAN Regional Action Plan for Combating Marine Debris. Addressing microplastics is essential to protecting our diverse ecosystems.   To address the need for microplastic research, the German Government funded a baseline study implemented by Norsk Institut for Vannforskning (NIVA) through the GIZ ASEAN portfolio project. The study identified several key challenges in combating microplastic pollution, including:   📑Knowledge gap between ASEAN Member States 👩⚕️The need for further exploration of human exposure to microplastic and its impacts 📊 Limitation on modelling and experimental studies   To find recommendations on potential #mitigation and other measures to combat microplastic, check out the full documents below ⏬ https://lnkd.in/guew3dhF

🤝 As part of our cooperation with ASEAN, we support selected ASEAN Member States (AMS) to improve consumer access to dispute resolution and redress through the implementation of #ASEANGermanPROTECT.    📚 Recently, a series of trainings were organised to enhance officials' skills in consumer protection, including the Local Dispute Resolution Bodies (#BPSK). The BPSK serves as an alternative dispute resolution body in Indonesia to resolve consumer disputes. However, many BPSK members still lack the resources to help them fulfil their role in resolving consumer disputes, including mediation skills. Recognising the importance of developing the mediation skills of BPSK members, the #ASEANGermanPROTECT initiated up to three rounds of mediation training for BPSK members across the country.   🗓 In this second round, held in mid-June, BPSK members from the regions of Java, Sumatera, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi and Bali gathered in Jakarta to improve their mediation skills and learn about the national Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) plan.   ⬇ Read selected quotes from resource persons and participants below!
