Moreover, 94% of respondents stated that they would purchase products from sellers they contacted through the chat feature. Despite the ease of online shopping and accessing information through websites and social media channels, 61% of Indonesian respondents still prefer quick responses regarding information and products through the chat feature. This preference could be attributed to the behavior of netizens, who desire everything to be convenient and fast, as well as the relatively low literacy rate in Indonesia, which leads people to be reluctant to invest time in searching for information even if it is available on websites, e-commerce platforms, or social media, and they seek instant information. As marketers, it is crucial to prioritize and improve the chat feature service, responding promptly, informatively, and with effective solutions. Not Blackpink, “Shut Down” Now Belongs To Tiktok Shop At Indo TikTok's e-commerce ambitions in Indonesia have come to a screeching halt, thanks to the government's new ban on social commerce. The video platform, which has been x2 down in the country for recent months, is now facing a major setback. "Whip it, whip it, whip it, whip it. Keep watchin' me shut it down," Indonesia seems to be saying to TikTok. Just kidding, Indonesia's Minister Masduki said the ban actually aims to "justly regulate fair trade online and offline. A week before Indonesia announced its ban, Tanah Abang - the largest wholesale market in Southeast Asia - came under inspection. Sellers at the market in Jakarta were experiencing a more than 50% loss of profits because they could not compete with online products. Besides, TikTok is currently under scrutiny by various countries (US, UK, Australia,...) due to apprehensions that Beijing could potentially exploit the app to gather user data for its own agenda. It seems like this year is a year of challenges for TikTok. What do you think about Indonesia's decision? Follow to share perspectives on the latest technology market trends.
