About Community Grants

Town of Banff Community Grants were established to provide an annual distribution of funds to enhance the quality of life for residents and encourage positive environmental change. 

The three, grant funding streams are:

Municipal Community Wellbeing Grants

  • Who can apply? 
    • Registered non-profits, charities, societies or community groups that are organized and operated solely for social welfare, civic improvement, pleasure or recreation, or any other purpose except for profit
    • Providing services to residents of the Town of Banff
    • Able to provide proof of financial good standing
  • Total funds available $11,000
  • Maximum request for funding $10,000

FCSS Building Bridges Grants

  • Who can apply? 
    • Individuals, or an informal group of individuals or neighbours or non-registered groups/ community organizations 
    • Residents of Banff or Lake Louise, consistently, for the past 6 months
  • Total funds available $11,000
  • Maximum request for funds $2,000
  • Funding Guidelines (PDF)

Environmental Impact Grants

  • Who can apply?
    • Individuals, or an informal group of individuals or neighbours, or non-registered groups/ community organizations or registered charities or societies 
    • Residents of Banff or Lake Louise, consistently, for the past 6 months 
  • Total funds available $20,000
  • Maximum request for funds $10,000

Other Grant Applications

The Town of Banff Community Grants application deadline has been set after the Banff Canmore Community Foundation grant decisions are made. If you are applying to both a Foundation grant and a Town of Banff grant for the same project, please submit your application after a decision has been made by the Foundation, so complete information on your project’s budget can be included.

Bow Valley-wide projects might be eligible to apply for the Town of Canmore Community Grants program. Applications are open March 18  to April 30, 2024, at noon. Please include information on your application for these funds in your submitted budget.
