New season, new style. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow arrived at training camp in Cincinnati on Tuesday sporting a new bleached-blond buzz cut. The Bengals posted a photo of their "new-look" quarterback to social media and added the caption of "guess who's back" -- a lyric from Eminem's 2002 hit "Without Me." Burrow now looks a bit like the famous rapper after shedding the thicker brown hair he's had since entering the league as the top overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft. And the Bengals are happy to have back Burrow, whose 2023 season ended prematurely after 10 games because of a torn ligament in his right wrist. Burrow, 27, wasn't the only Bengals superstar with a different look, however. Wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, 24, also featured a short haircut after sporting longer hair since entering the league as the fifth overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. Chase and the Bengals have yet to come to terms on a long-term contract extension, but he could still afford that haircut. He will play the 2024 season on a $21.8 million fifth-year option. --Field Level Media

Palestinian factions and bitter foes Hamas and Fatah have signed a declaration in China vowing to form a unity government that would rule over the occupied West Bank and Gaza when the Israel-Hamas war ends. The agreement reached Tuesday in Beijing could mark the beginning of a reconciliation between the two heavyweights of Palestinian politics. Israel has ruled out any initiative that would lead to Hamas or the Fatah-dominated Palestinian Authority governing Gaza, and the deal appears to offer only the broadest outlines on how the two would work together.

Vice President Kamala Harris is flying to her first battleground state Wisconsin after locking up enough support from Democratic delegates to earn the party’s nomination. Democratic leaders Charles Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries also endorsed Harris on Tuesday, capping off their party’s swift embrace of her 2024 candidacy. Meanwhile, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle stepped down from her job following the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump. Cheatle had been facing growing calls to resign and several investigations into how the shooter was able to get so close to the Republican presidential nominee.

U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez is resigning from office Aug. 20 following his conviction for taking bribes for corrupt acts including acting as an agent of the Egyptian government. That's according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke to The Associated Press on Tuesday on the condition of anonymity because the New Jersey Democrat's decision hadn’t been made public. The resignation gives Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy the ability to appoint someone to the Senate for the remainder of Menendez’s term, expiring Jan. 3. Menendez was convicted of charges he sold the power of his office to three businessmen who sought favors. Menendez says he's innocent. Menendez's attorney hasn't returned messages seeking comment.
