Nice and new restaurant in the neighborhood of Horta (Barcelona), with a splendid terrace inside the restaurant. The quality of the food is good but the service is a bit slow. The menu price is correct.

The starters and starters were quite good, but I have to say that the rice and fideuá justillos, a lot of tomato.

As an appetizer, the shrimp did not taste good. Maybe they weren't fresh. There should have been more garlic flavor and bread to soak up the broth. As a main dish, the paella also did not match previous experiences of good Spanish paella. There was a lot of fried and chopped onion or similar and plenty of salt. Earlier, the paella had been praised and that's why we went to try the place.
The waiters don't speak English, but google translator helped. The menu dishes at the neighboring table looked good. Maybe more effort had been put into those dishes. Maybe something out of the ordinary had happened in the kitchen.

The truth is that expectations exceeded reality, the fideua was very soggy and the beef tenderloin was hard as a stone. I agree that it was a menu, certainly with a very adjusted price, but I think that despite this we would have to put a little more effort into it. Regarding the rest of the dishes, I commented that they were good and little else. We will give it another chance with the letter, I hope to be able to say that they improved.

A friend from work and I went to this place, recommended by him, I was encouraged since I love fish, whether white or blue, and since I am from the Horta neighborhood and had never been, it was time. So without further ado, I'll tell you my experience in this El racó del peix, which, as you'll see, I have mixed feelings about.
Inside, the place is spacious and the decoration is simple, the wall is white with marine motifs, which clearly suggests to us that the specialties are, indeed, fish, rice, shellfish... sea products, wow. And rightly so, because as I will detail, the food is really very good. I attach photos so you can think for yourselves.
My partner and I agreed on the menu: we ordered eggplant with honey and hake with sanfaina, and for dessert a chocolate coulant. The truth is that when I go to a restaurant for the first time, and if the star product is fish, I go with great enthusiasm. Very much. I adore fish and with the price level at the moment, leaving out chicken and mackerel is already blowing up the budget, I think I have every right in the world to be demanding. Quite demanding.
First, I commented, I ordered the eggplants with honey. When the waiter came with the dish, I saw it and I was very disappointed, and the amount was RIDDIOUS (I attach a photo so you can decide if I'm wrong or not, at your discretion): a few small pieces of eggplant with honey. Very delicious, yes, I'm not saying no since it was very well sautéed, at the point of frying, very crunchy and with a very pleasant sweet touch, but honestly I expected a little more quantity and my intuition told me that I had to order something more than the menu to say that I have eaten quite a bit.
After this bad drink (...), it was time for the second course, the hake with sanfaina. Here I had pinned my hopes on the quantity being larger and filling me a little more, since the first dish barely satisfied my stomach. However, I was once again disappointed on the one hand but on the other I liked it: good flavor, small quantity. Let's see, don't get me wrong, the hake was very well cooked and the batter was very fine and exquisite but, please, a little more than a simple slice would have been very good. The slice of hake covered the sanfaina, which was also quite good.
For dessert we ordered the chocolate coulant with vanilla ice cream, and this personally offended me the most: a (mini) coulant even smaller than the scoop of ice cream, which you can finish in a spoonful. And I repeat myself more than the garlic, again good flavor but please, for whatever you want, serve a dessert that requires a little more than a teaspoon. I attach a photo so that you can once again give your opinion and judge for yourselves: what there is is what you see.
When it comes to the attention of the staff, they treated us well and kindly. Maybe at times a little rushed because the room was quite full, but I think they served us quite correctly.
In conclusion, I would like to say that I have mixed feelings, since on the one hand I cannot deny that the product is very well cooked and the food (apart from a simple white wine) was very delicious, but on the other hand I was frankly disappointed with the quantity served. I don't like leaving a restaurant with the feeling that my appetite hasn't been satisfied. Ok, yes, it is a menu, it is not a la carte, but between that and serving such small plates I think there is a distance, and in this sense I expected a little more quantity. By saying that we had to order another menu again to finish filling up, I say it all.
If they had served me more food I would not hesitate to give it five stars, but since the quantity was what it was I have to give it 3 stars out of 5; that is, a 6 out of 10: a good. Good for the taste of the food, because if we had to talk about quantity I doubt I would approve. Because precisely that was missing: feeling that I had eaten just enough and necessary, since we had to order another menu to make the experience fuller, and never better said.
