We arrived here at the recommendation of a friend, who said he had been on a foodie pilgrimage of Barcelona, but ended up having all of his dinners here.
Admittedly, we were a bit baffled by the understated looks of the place, as we waited in the street for a half an hour for them to open, There was however nothing understated about their food when it arrived. We ordered 5 courses; 2 vegetarian and 3 meats/fish. The bacalao cod and the ribs were hands down the best we have ever had and all cooked to perfection with a palpable passion for catalan tradition. Desserts were a true joy with the cheese mousse a delightful surprise.
We also have to mention the very friendly helpful staff and an owner who takes the time to chat with his guests, explain his courses and gently guide them through the selection and wine pairing.
We now understand what our friend faced when found himself taking all of his dinners here; we wanted to do so as well and are more than likely to go for a second and a third visit as well...
The boys from a certain tire manufacturer are bound to come knocking soon, if the have not done so already! You should visit while this is within your grasp!
One note: Arrive early, this place is popular and they don't take bookings. First come first served.

Unreal. If I was in town for a while I would be a regular. Feel guilty dining at a place multiple times on a 4 night stay though. Fantastic food and environment, I love the open kitchen so I can watch each step of their culinary process and geek out. Again, everything sounded incredible and everything I ate was incredible. Also extremely reasonably priced for the quality of food you get, if people say otherwise they are use to Cracker Barrel. 3 dishes and two glasses of wine for about 44 euros. Would be around 80 in my small New England town. Good service too, always great when they are having fun doing their job!

I am actually fortunate enough to have discovered rhe second incarnation of this place, Restaurante la Gastronomica 2, located in Carrer Calabria. Select, carefully sourced products that could not have been prepared or presented better. Add to that a friendly wait staff and it’s little wonder why they had to open a second place.
I ordered the burrata appetizer that was served with arugula and diced sundried tomatoes. Everything was as fresh as could be and presented in a no nonsense way. For my main: skirt steak cooked to perfection, tender and seasoned with just enough salt and served, again, in an elegant but not pretentious manner. Finished with a chocolate molten style desert with just a hint of ginger served with vanilla ice cream. I enjoyed it so much, I am going back for dinner tonight just to try something different. Bravo!

The burger restaurant is really one of the best in Barcelona. The burger was made exactly to our preferences and the quality of the meat was amazing. Staff was very friendly and polite.
We will definitely visit this place again next time we’re in Barcelona.

The choices there were, were beautifully cooked, very well presented and really delicious (only bravas were a bit ordinary but still tasty). Only criticism really that choices were limited and with a daughter that isn’t currently keen on seafood or red meat, there was virtually nothing doing. It’s maybe a little too upscale to consider as tapas really but well worth trying if you’re in the vicinity.

The best service we’ve had in Barcelona so far! Sat at the kitchen bar and the head chef was social and easy going and happy. We ordered the burrata, grilled veggies with romesco, salmon toast, skirt steak and almond soufflé. Would recommend ALL. We’re honestly considering going once more at their newly opened second location before we leave town. Flavors were fantastic. Food wasn’t heavy. Please visit!!

Really the best thing in Barcelona! When we came we were little suspicious because the interior was really small but cozy ( capacity around 20 ppl). Waiter was really helpful and friendly. We had octopus, beefsteak cut in little slices, deep fried eggplant, patatas bravas (fried potatoes Spanish style) , wok veggies (must try) and their famous slow cooked pork ribs. Later on we tried both Almond and Chocolate foundant. At the end we were really amazed with all the flavours!

We stumbled across La Gastronomical by chance. We had an early flight the next morning and wanted somewhere we could eat early. After eating at fine dining restaurants most of the week, this was the best by far, the fine dining restaurant of burgers. Absolutely delicious, presented in a very unique way and of course served by Joel who was the icing on the cake. Very friendly and knowledgable. Will definitely visit again if we’re ever in Barcelona. Highly recommend. Good value too. Thank you Joel.

This burger was simple amazing! It’s one of the best we’ve had! We had the BBQ Bacon Cheese and it was cooked to perfection! It wasn’t greasy and the best bit, it had just what was ordered (so not hot lettuce or soggy tomato!). Really good value for money!
We also had the reasonably priced desserts, the almond cake and the chocolate fondant. Again, absolutely delicious!
The service by the waiter was considerate and very helpful, we felt at ease with him straightaway and he offered good recommendations!
We cannot recommend a visit to this place enough!

The food was absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic. We had La Provola, Hot & Blue and the Costilla de Cerdo and each one was brilliant. Quality ingredients all cooked really well and served with great charisma! 10/10

I passed by several late night bars open , and knew I needed to be selective over the quality at this hour. The Burgers and Beers version of this Gastro spot worked out well for both my partner and my tastes!!! The waiter Joelle communicated flawless how the main restaurant makes their slow cooked pork— I’ll be visiting the other restaurant main one soon because of that! The lava cake was perfect w/a hint of ginger. Highly recommend this location for an anytime stop. Definitely.

If you are looking for a great Burger and Service this is the place to go in Barcelona. We weren't sure if we would manage to find place there, because the restaurant is small, and we were a group of 16, but thank God, Joel managed to accomodate us all. The Burgers were great and tasty, some of us had seconds, since we wanted to taste different ones, but most importantly the service from the Staff and eapecially Joel, made us feel like home and very comfortable. A must go for everyone lloking for a tasty Burger and a great time. Thanks guys

We ordered the basic cheeseburger and the bacon cheeseburger. Both were excellent especially when you’ve eaten too much tapas and want something familiar and hearty: The service was personal, waiting staff who spoke fluent English took the time to explain each burger properly. Excellent.

We sat outside. Limited seating but were lucky to get a seat on the heated covered patio. The food was delicious! Nice presentation as well. Three of us shared 5 dishes and 1 Dessert. Highlights were the daily specials: scallops and angus beef steak! An enjoyable dinner. Great service from Joel whose English is impeccable.

Nice burgers in a small setting (roughly a dozen seats inside and a half dozen outside). Burgers are taste good and are pretty good size (180 g); they come with french fries. The beer on tap was also good (Alhambra). Waiter was friendly and good. If you need a burger, I can recommend it -- note prices are those of a high end burger joint.
