Detailed Reviews

We booked Motel One Barcelona via Booking for 6 days. The location is great, around 2 min by feet from Arc de Triomf and the Metro Station stop. The hotel was absolutely worth the price, our room was very quiet, very cozy and on the 6th floor of the hotel. We asked for a room with a view but there was a 15€ charge per night so we didn’t book it but the room that we finally got had actually a very nice view which we are thankful for. There is also a roof bar on the top of the hotel where you have to give a call to the main bar so you can order and they bring up your drink. The main bar is really nice and there are small tables and s couple of swings hanging from the ceiling. The staff was very polite and helped us in everything we needed. The only “drawback” was that most of TV channels were either Spanish or German, I think only 1 or 2 were English or American. However this was not a problem since we spent most of the days on the run , exploring the amazing city of Barcelona.

Came here for the Barcelona half marathon and not only was the hotel a great base for the event, it is very well located for touring about Barcelona. Situated just five minutes walk from the Arc de Triomf and nearby shops and bars, the hotel is modern, comfortable and clean. Nice powerful shower and comfortable beds. Fluffy towels and soft sheets. Yes the room is small but who cares, I was only there to sleep and shower, the rest of the time I was out exploring or running. Only downside is there is no kettle to make your own tea or coffee, but that’s me being picky. Breakfast was also included in the price, nice buffet of fruit, pastries, juice and hot drinks. Nothing fancy but enough of what I needed. Front desk service was friendly and efficient at check in and check out. Would definitely return here and likely use Motel One in another city now I know how good the hotels are.

Booked a room with a view which over looked the park.
Room clean and bed comfy. Huge pillows.
Modern bathroom and the walk in shower was great, really liked the bottled shampoo and shower gel.
Full length window that opens fully with waist height security railing.
Please be aware that you are in a city so if you have the window open you will hear traffic noise and it does not go quiet until about 0330 to 0430 in morning
There is air con in room if you want the window closed
Staff friendly and great views from the roof top.
The only negative is the breakfast at 13.50 euros.
Not a great choice and it's the usual continental with cheap hams, tasteless cheese and, soon to make you hungry, sweet pastries.
There was fresh fruit salad every morning but the whole package wasn't worth the money.

There was no intercom in the room to request/ask anything such as ordering a cab or a water bottle. They did not provide any water bottles during our 2 night stay and charged us 5 euros for each water bottle. The room was very small and the view from the window was terrible.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very neat and clean. Location of the hotel is great. There are plethora of food and drinks options around the hotel. There is a good cafe/bar in the hotel which serves food/drinks at very reasonable prices.

Spending 2 nights in this hotel on our city break we were quite pleased with the location, breakfast, bar lounge and our bed. The only criticism is the layout of the room and lack of hanging space. Also if you have a standard room- the view is to the wall of the same hotel building. The reception was trying to sell us an upgrade for a room with park view instead. We decided to choose a breakfast option instead €9 per person. You can easily walk to Barrio Gothica and other tourists attractions. It’s €35 in a taxi to get to the hotel.

Lovely motel, clean with great staff, who genuinely seem interested in you as a guest. It’s the first hotel I have stayed in were the temperature can be successfully adjusted in the bedroom, we were able to turn heating right down but still have fans on which made the room cool. Great bar on an evening and a great breakfast with lots of variety. We would definitely choose motel one again.

Positives:
Very clean, great showers, friendly staff, good location for beach and old town.
Negatives:
Really overpriced breakfast buffet and no way of including it in the room price. I struggle to eat £10 worth of food for breakfast but my children get nowhere near that amount.
No kettle in the room so you have to traipse down to reception and beg a cup of hot water from the breakfast buffet to make a cup of tea in the morning + buy your own tea bags and UHT milk (also no fridge in the rooms)
One more positive: there is a lovely supermarket called Sorli around the corner that sells delicious fresh chocolate croissants! For around 1.5 euro each!
Also El Cort Ingles on placa de Catalonia sells kettles for 20 euro.

I am a returner to this hotel, so my review could be short as I keep coming back since 2017. But sometimes good places go bad and nice things go less nice, so it's good to do an update:

And nowadays, this MO property got even better ! The location is obviously the same :) good one ! But rooms and staff are remaining great:

Late arrival no problem as usual, a quick call sorted out everything. In the days before, a date and pax change was handled efficiently by mail, courteous and fast.

Rooms are the usual modern, clean, fresh and preppy MO style -with everything working, VERY comfy bed for really tight sleep, spotless clean bathroom and floors and a narrow but nice park view (would probably agree that "view rooms" are not worth the extra Euros unless they are on highest floor. But that seems a trial and error-so try it if you like).

Breakfast is delicious and can be a busy affair -go off hours to have a relaxed experience, and nothing will be wrong. The Bar seems larger than before and is staffed with friendly tenders at any time of the day, a really nice plce to hang out. Rooftop I did not try but it seems popular ;)

Staff has always been excellent and it is going on like that. It's very well mannered, managed and trained people working there, busy as hell as it is a huge hotel, but always friendly and professional. As I stayed longer, I got to know all of them and I praise MO for this staff quality. Dimitry and Paolo were a delight to speak with and helped with anything I asked, as did all other FO and bar staff members. For me, this is one of the best MO's I have been to and it's worthwhile only for that. If in addition rooms and everything else is superb too, why look further.

I highly recommend this property, service is excellent and so are rooms. And if there is a problem with reservations or payment or other admin stuff, I am quite sure staff willsort it out well.

Great place to stay.

Can't say more about the great location of this hotel. Right in front of Ciutedella Park and around the corner from Arc de Triomph. The rooftop is a nice place to have a drink at the end of the day and offers a great view of the city. The breakfast was great and bed was comfortable. My only complaint is the very small size of room and lack of a mini fridge or microwave. I stayed for 5 nights and would often have leftovers from my meals which I'd be forced to throw away as there was no way to keep them cool in a fridge. Also, no coffee available to make in the room itself, and the bathroom door would not stay open unless I put the garbage can in front of it. I was also surprised that there was no conditioner. Do women with long hair not use conditioner in Europe? I ended up having to buy some because the shampoo/body wash mix just doesn't cut it.

The hotel is located in a quiet-ish location across from Barcelona's largest park. It's a 10-15 minute walk from attractions like the Gothic Quarter and Picasso Museum. Staff was very courteous. The room was pretty, clean, well laid out, and reasonably quiet, but it was cramped for two adults with luggage. The bed was oddly sloped and uncomfortable. Breakfast is available for roughly 13 euro; food is fresh with a fairly wide selection but it's expensive by Barcelona standards. Taxi stand is right outside the hotel and a bike rental shop is 100 meters away. If you don't need or expect frills, this hotel is a good budget option.
