The property is old & run down; nothing like the pictures online. The sink water stunk like sewer water & the other room our friends stayed at had an issue w/the shower water running outside of the shower. The hot tub by the pool is no longer in existence. The staff was accommodating, courteous & nice. I won’t stay here again.
Besides the unpleasant loud pounding and light shaking of the building whenever someone walks on any floor (or allows their children to run wild outside of the rooms), our 2 week stay at this hotel was wonderful. The top floor room overlooking the back of the property and the water where kayakers often began their day was very nice to wake up to. Due to Covid, it only took a simple phone call to the front desk for towel/toilet paper replacement. I found employees here friendly, helpful, and willing to assist guests. The room was spacious. The beds were comfortable. There was plenty of space to put bags, etc. The sink being outside the nice bathroom was a bonus. I'd recommend staying here and will hope to return.
We usually stay in the heart of Ogunquit, so it was new for us to explore the Footbridge Beach. We had a nice room on the first floor-it was spacious. The room was immaculate-I completely trust them during COVID-19. Everything was sanitary and the room smelled clean. All towels, toiletries, etc. came in plastic bags.
Good to know:
1. Our room had its own entrance and exit through a glass door, meaning we didn't have to go out into a hallway or anything.
2. There are lots of chairs to enjoy the river views.
3. Pool was very warm and on the smaller side, so we tried to go early for social distancing. There are plenty of tables and shaded spots.
4. Hotel is a quick drive to Footbridge Beach. After 4:00PM it is free to park.
5. The breakfast is just okay, but hey, it's free. Some baked goods, juice, coffee, milk, cereal, etc. It starts at 8:00AM.
6. An early check-in would be nice. We had to wait until 3:00PM exactly. That is my one "could be better" comment. We arrived at 2:15PM and had to wait 45 minutes. There are signs posted stating the same about no early check-ins, and if you do, you pay for it.
7. Staff was welcoming and friendly.
8. The fridge is a "college fridge" so plan accordingly! It was plenty for our one-night stay. There was no microwave.
9. There was a beautiful glass shower and the sink is outside the bathroom area.
10. There was lots of storage outside the bathroom area for clothing, and an ironing board.
We would return.
We had a wonderful experience at this property during COVID! We chose it because it was a little off the beaten path and it had a very high cleanliness rating. The hotel is centrally located, and it's a two minute drive to Footbridge Beach. It's away from the heavily congested area of Ogunquit. The hotel room was clean, bright and spacious. Our large family stayed in two rooms with a balcony in building one. The balcony was semi-private, as three rooms shared it. We were very distanced from the other family. The rooms had spectacular views! The hotel has a pool. They offer a grab & go continental breakfast with prepackaged items.The beds were comfy and the very large tv had many channels. Anything we requested such as toilet paper and soap was provided immediately. The sliding glass door handle was broken in our room. I reported it before we left for the day. They fixed it immediately and sprayed disinfectant in the room upon exiting. I would stay at this hotel again!
I have two very minor complaints. The hotel advertises a hot tub, but it was been removed. It's still listed on the property maps that are provided upon arrival. I called the hotel directly to ask questions about the COVID response and I ended up booking the hotel during the call but I was not given the best rate available. Additionally, they gave me two reservation numbers for two rooms. I had to call the 800 number to get the best rate available and then I had to cancel my original two reservations. It was extremely inconvenient.
Ogunquit River Inn is the place to stay in Wells, Maine. Room was very clean, spacious and beds were very comfortable. We had a shared balcony that faced the river that afforded us great views. Plus, everyone that we interacted with on the staff was very friendly, cheerful and helpful. Breakfast is included and includes a lot of variety. Will definitely stay here again.
