Family holiday June 2024. Stayed at the El Beso section in a newly renovated room which was amazing. View was of the garden in Block 4, 3rd floor which we loved. Room was cleaned every day and fridge restocked daily. Beds were comfy and the air conditioning was good. Housekeeping work extremely hard but a couple of times they did not leave enough bath towels but this was quickly rectified. We asked for a dehumidifier for the room and this helped with the dampness.

Generally the staff were amazing but did notice in some instances in the restaurants that the staff went above and beyond for Americans and favoured them more and forgot about other nationalities which was not good! At the buffet restaurant a few times we were sat at a table made up for 2 people whilst there were 3 of us so had to ask for an extra place to be set or just set it myself.

Food was generally of a high standard although I was disappointed with the food in the Mexican, Brazilian and Italian restaurants. Apart from that everywhere else was good, you won't go hungry. Loved Blue Moon, Route 66, the coffee shop and El Beso for breakfast. Ice cream shop and juice bar were good too! It was also good to have room service where you don't need to pay!

Mauricio the mixologist was amazing at making Cocktails and was gutted that he left at the beginning of our stay. After that the cocktails were not good, watered down and pre-mixed. Was disappointed that everytime we asked for a certain cocktail from the menu in the lobby bar that they couldn't make it and was told it was only done on a Friday or that you could only get certain cocktails between 6-7pm or 7-8pm. Spoke to a lovely gentleman at concierge who looked into this and this was soon rectified and was able to get the cocktails which were on the lobby bar menu and were lovely.

I had a query regarding Blue Moon restaurant and spoke with someone else at concierge and was told tables could only accommodated 2 people and could not accommodate 3 people. I noticed one night that tables were set for more than 2 people, spoke to privileged concierge as could not get normal concierge who advised this was not the case, they even booked a table for the 3 of us even though we were El Beso!

The staff around the hotel are so hard working and were constantly keeping the grounds and hotel clean and tidy.

Enjoyed the daily and evening entertainment, they all work so hard. The bowling alley was great fun.

The beach, yes there was sargassum but didn't stop us from getting into the sea, they do their best everyday to clear it from the beach.

Pools were lovely but we generally stayed at the El Beso pool. Did not have a problem getting a sun lounger when we went to the pool and did not need to go down at the crack of dawn to reserve one like other people were doing, there really is no need to!

Booked a trip at the hotel to Tulum, Coba and a cenote, yes it was maybe more expensive but it was worth it. Our guide was Mundo who was amazing!

Yes it's an older hotel but I still would recommend it and would go back. Would love to have given 5 stars but due to the couple of issues it's a 4. Just need to pay attention to the finer details.
