Good hotel in a nice, quiet location

Reviewed Aug 1, 2021
We were a family of five that spend one night in two rooms. All in all it was a comfortable stay.

The rooms were simple but adequate, one of the rooms was a corner room which was nice. There is a very nice common area where there are cooking facilities and drinks in a fridge that can be bought at a reasonable price.

The staff were friendly and willing to help in any way they could.

The hotel is located about 5-10 minutes from the core of the town and close to a supermarket as well.

All in all a comfortable stay at a hotel with a lot of soul.

I stayed here two nights during my summer euro trip. The receptionist was really cool and helpful. She helped me find a few of the things I really wanted to do during my time in Interlaken. The room exactly what I needed. Small, cozy and clean. The bathroom was quite small but it did the job very well. I really enjoyed the location of the hotel as the train station was a 2 min walk away and also the hotel was very quiet and peaceful. Also the main area with all the restaurants is a 5-7 min walk. Very practical. I would definitely stay here again. They also had a nice little breakfast buffet.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at Hotel Lotschberg, Interlaken West in September. We liked the location, the friendly service, comfortable room, delicious breakfast and the living room.

The walk after we got off the train at the Interlaken West Railway station to the hotel was an easy and short one. On the way to the hotel, we passed the Migros Supermarket to our delight.

Mr Beat welcomed us but as it was only around 12 noon, our room wasn't ready. We left our luggage at a corner in the 24/7 living room provided by the hotel. Beat was very helpful in providing us information about both the Lake Thun and Lake Brienz cruises, and suggested that we visit the Giessbach Falls.

This is a hotel with only 18 rooms and the room we got was of a good size and it is very comfortable. There's a living room on the ground floor where dining tables and chairs, coffee and tea, cutlery, wine and beer glasses, dishes, a microwave and an electric kettle are provided for all guests to use whenever they want. There's also a fridge where guests can store the food items they have bought and cards with room numbers are provided to be used as tags on the food. In a separate chiller, a variety of drinks, beer and wine are also provided at a charge but it is a "self service" style where one takes the drink and put the indicated price into the piggy bank voluntarily. I appreciate the trust given by the hotel.

Christian checked us in after we returned from our afternoon adventure. He is a cheerful, warm and pleasant guy who speaks good English. Just like Beat, he was generous with suggestions for dining and shopping.

The breakfast spread was good and able to fill our stomach so well that we were able to skip lunch those 2 days when visiting Bern and Jungfraujoch as time was tight for us. They were able to serve the breakfast punctually at 7 am, so that really helped us as we left as early as 8 l:10 am for our fully packed days.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a good location and the option of buying food from Migros Supermarket to enjoy in the comfort of the spacious living room of Hotel Lotschberg (without having to wash any dishes after use).

I wasn't sure what to expect because the hotel was priced lower than other places in Interlaken. While it is convenient to the west train station, there are several trade offs that travelers should be aware of before making their plans. First I would use the term "budget" to describe much of the hotel: the elevator, carpeting, plumbing, and breakfast that is offered. Fortunately, there was a very helpful manager at the front desk, Christian who, although constantly dealing with dealing with the hotel's problems, was very charming and helpful and made the stay tolerable.
Another word of caution, for those who haven't been to Interlaken for some time, be aware that the town is now on the UNESCO trail and therefore jammed with tourists and hardly resembles the quaint Swiss town it was 20-30 years ago. If drinking and loud music are your thing, you'll be happy here.

We stayed this summer for one night.
We shared two bedrooms with our kids.
Rooms was below our expectations, especially the bathroom was very small.
The decoration of the place was very simple and the amenities don’t offer something special.
Cleaning of the property is just average.
The location is decent, just a 10’ walk from the center of the city.
The only positive and above our expectations experience we had, was the staff in the reception.
He was a very friendly and professional guy - a real concierge.

The rooms here are honestly a little bit small, but the rest of the experience more than makes up for it. Lovely breakfast room and an even better sun terrace where you can enjoy one of the beers available for very inexpensive purchase from the community fridge. Speaking of which, the ‘living room’ is a wonderful touch! Free coffee machine, free fruit and snacks, and beer/wine/soft drinks available in a great sitting room. The staff was incredibly friendly! Great conversation and advice. Wonderful experience.
