Single room was small and not very modern. Plugs are installed at difficult places to charge. Double room was more modern with both usb and plugs at the right place.
Bed are not very comfortable and provided only one pillow which is too soft or thin.
The staff were friendly and helpful (particularly the younger man on reception in the evenings). Breakfast is included and buffet style, mostly cold but there was scrambled egg also. The room was clean and comfortable.
The location is good only 5 minutes walk to Interlaken West station and a few minutes further to the main town centre, so it is close enough to be a short walk but also quiet, being slightly outside the centre. You are given a card by the hotel which includes free use of the buses in the town and also the train between Interlaken East and West stations, which was handy and discounts for some local attractions.
I was fortunate with the weather and took the train up to Jungfraujoch on one day I was here which whilst expensive is very highly recommended. Helpfully the TV in the room shows live pictures from cameras on the top of various mountains in the area which is good to see the weather if you are planning to visit. There is also a bar though it is in the more modern building at the back, but just opposite the main hotel entrance.
So in summary this is a friendly, traditional family hotel. It isn't modern or luxurious, but it is homely and comfortable and in a nice location.
The only thing is that they charge for parking, may be it should be complimentary as standard in all places these days.
Will definitely recommend as high end budget hotel.
The room was very clean with twin beds and separate duvets which are typical of many European hotels, and a very good idea. We stayed in the Annexe a few steps away from the Reception and main Hotel. The Breakfast Room was light and well appointed with a paper placemat of the Alps for each guest. The breakfast is typical Continental with the addition of Scrambled Eggs and the selection of cheeses and bread were delicious. The two ladies we saw most days were called Nicole and Nicolette and were most helpful and gave us tips on places to visit.
The Railway Station at Interlaken West was about a ten minute walk away and buses stop just across the road from the Hotel. We were given a local transport pass for buses in and around Interlaken and we went to several places on the two Lakes Brienzee and Thunersee. The Interlaken Area Swiss Rail Pass is well worth purchasing at a cost which gives you unlimited travel on both Rail, Mountain Railways, Eiger Express, Cable cars, Jungfraujoch and Lake Steamers and upgrading to First Class is well worth the extra cost as some of the trains can be very busy. This makes it so easy to get on and off trains as there is no inconvenience of trying to buy tickets from machines. If you are staying in the Interlaken area it is essential to research the available travel tickets for the area otherwise it is extremely expensive to do individual trips.
We have been to Switzerland and are returning again staying at Zermatt. We travelled to Geneva Airport which was not a good experience as we had to queue for a long time going through Passport Control again and we almost missed our flight home.
The staff were very helpful and friendly; the predominantly cold breakfast was quite reasonable; there was a bar/lounge on the ground floor of the rear section; the Old Town was a 10 minute walk and there were a number of restaurants within the same 10 minute walk, so the location was fine.
All in all, although not really modern, it was comfortable and it provided a pleasant stay.
The room was modern with a beautiful alpine touch to it (i.e. lots of timber).
Breakfast was great but got a bit crowded at rush-hour times (we had been warned about this at check-in but still chose to embrace the crowds).
The staff are all friendly, pleasant and helpful.
Rooms cleaned daily.
Free WiFi.
The breakfast consists of juice, fruit salad, fresh fruit, yogurts, nuts, cereal, meats and cheeses and scrambled egg. There are crossaints and fresh bread and sliced bread for toasting, also an assortment of jams.
It was the same each day, but it was sufficient.
Only down side I found was being an older property with wooden floorboards it could get noisy above.
Apart from that I would recommend.
3rd floor room spacious, clean and bed comfortable. Height space a little restricted in bath/ shower due to sloping roof. Fan provided in room/ all windows opened fully. We found all the staff friendly, courteous and helpful. Swiss style breakfast, fruit, meat, tomato, cheese, yoghurts, egg, cereals, breads, tea coffee, juices. An enjoyable stay here.
