I’ve stayed in four budget hostales in Madrid, and Los Alpes is far better than the other three. Excellent location for public transportation , restaurants, and typical tourist sites. My room was small, but the mellow yellow paint made it cheerful. Bathroom was clean and modern. Bed was comfortable. The place was quiet. 10 stars for Marietta, the person in charge, who was very pleasant and helpful. Tips: There is no 24-hour reception. Instead, Marietta gave me 3 keys: to the bldg, to the hostal door, and to my room. The elevator brings you to the 4th floor, but there are about 8 low-rise steps from the elevator to the hostal door.

I loved this place! Centrally located. Comfy room. Good bathroom. Easy to come and go. Good security. A really great value for the price. Check-in online required, which was easy to do. Payment in cash only, also easy.

Great location on a pedestrianized street near the Gran Via metro station with east connections to bus snd train stations.
Our twin room was small but clean and nicely equipped. We faced the inner courtyard so it was pretty quiet. We really appreciated the little fridge, microwave and kettle. Beds were comfy. Great lighting. Wifi was perfect. We had some issues with our AC going off in the middle of the night but it got fixed.
Our only suggestion is for staff to show guests how to use A/C and fan/light when you arrive. We thought the A/C wasn’t working the first night but turned they hadn’t given us the remote. We were trying to use the remote for the fan but turns out we were not supposed to use…just use the switches.
As mentioned in previous comments, staff don’t have a lot of English so be prepared to use Google translate unless you speak Spanish.
Room tip: Inner rooms quieter.
Really small showers.

I have stayed in many hostels and this one was the best so far - if you value the quiet nights, a kettle and fridge in your room and nice atmosphere, this is a place for you. The staff was very nice and helpful, the room was very comfortable and quiet and the location is fantastic - considering that it's located just next to the Gran Via, it is surprising how peaceful this place was!

My first time at a hostel. I stayed in a single room with my own sink and shower. I was worried about this place being too noisy, whereas in fact the receptionist kindly told me off for being too noisy at 5pm when I was trying to lock the door. At this point I knew it was not a roudy hostel. Room cleaned every day. Few minutes walk to Puerta Del Sol. Blink and you will miss it as the sign is not obvious.
