Stayed for 4 nights during the week, it wasn't too busy but enough people for a nice atmosphere. Staff were helpful and friendly. Room was cleaned well every day, decent view of the city on 8th floor, only bad point to note is the beds being rock solid - great for some people, not for us unfortunately.

Breakfast buffet has fruit, pastries, meat & cheese, cooked options, and a variety of drink options. Better than we were expecting and very happy each morning with such a selection! The meal we had in the evening was not great sadly, there are so many better options for food at a cheaper price within a 10-minute walk. Would recommend exploring the area for authentic local food rather than eating here.

You can also enjoy the rooftop bar and pool after check out if you have an hour to kill. Overall we had a good stay and would come back if in the area again.

Everything was just poor. The housekeeping staff are burglars/thieves as the valuables even kept inside the hotel room is not safe at all. Therefore, as an Indian Citizen, I strongly recommend that please discard this Hotel to stay.

We have been staying at your hotel from the past 5 nights at Room No. 207. However, we are completely shocked to learn that yesterday when we came back to our room, our 100 Euros have been found missing from our bag which was lying at the chair.

As as a customer, if things are not safe even inside the hotel, then there is no point staying in this kind of hotel. The Housekeeping staff cum burglars/thieves are roaming around in your hotel.

We as customers, who have been travelling to Barcelona for the first time had a very bad experience where things are not even “safe” inside the hotel room, despite knowing that there were other valuables like laptops and currency in the form of USD but everything remained untouched by your cleaning/house keeping staff except the aforementioned of Euros.

Therefore, we as your customers will strongly recommend that Hotel Barcelona Universal should be discarded at all times to come.

My ideal rating for this hotel will be 3.5 stars.

The staff were nice and polite. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel was neat, well kept and close to the metro station and bus stop. Luckily our window faced the back of the hotel, which wasn't a great view, but spared us from the noise of the road outside the hotel. However, the walls of the rooms were too thin, which meant we could hear everything that happened in the corridor. I was woken from sleep twice by an excited kid's noise.

We had paid for half board, to start a night prior to our arrival. On arrival, we were made to wait for one hour because the room we were meant to be in was occupied. I found this very annoying, as I was tired from the journey, and we had missed our first flight. Apparently, this seems to be a common occurrence, because on our penultimate morning I heard another guest at the restaurant complaining of the same thing.

Alslo, they had very few choices for both breakfast and dinner, which I found disappointing as I was looking forward to Spanish cuisine.

The overall experience was good, but they've got to work on the things above.
