We stayed 3 nights ending yesterday Feb 06th.
630pm Saturday evening we ordered a pizza, and my 19 year old son and myself were surprised when there was a knock at our door at 642pm. This was not our pizza , it was a gentleman standing at our door with a nap-sack and was obviously impaired ( drugs). I asked if we could help him with No response. I let this person know they were at the wrong room and closed the door. That's when things went very wrong. This gentlemen proceeded to kick our door with such force we were concerned he was going to get in. I am not a small man. 6 foot 4 , and yet this young man was attempting to enter our room. My son initially called the front desk, but in a few short moments the man stopped and requested us to open the " Fn door or he was going to kill us " We called 911. I pleaded with him from the door that he had the wrong room, and i also suggested i had an infant son in the room hoping that this would get thru to him. He kicked the door approx 20 times. He also turned his back to the door in attempt to kick it harder. Moments later a hotel employee approached him, i was concerned for their welfare but he kicked twice more and stopped. The police insisted we remain in the room till they arrived. When i called the front desk i was informed everything was fine " mistaken room" and the intoxicated man was now " sober"....ummmm no !! The police apparently came and were told everything was under control NO ONE checked on us!!! We called the police back hours later to learn they had done just that, dropped in and left. We did not feel safe at this property. We were a hostage in our room, as we did not want to leave our room. We were told by the desk the man was still permitted in the Hotel. We did not want to run into him in the hallway, stairwell, elevator or lobby. Absolutely ridiculous handing of this situation by both the police and the hotel. I strongly feel this is becoming so routine they just blew this off. I never look for compensation , but none was offered either. When we left at approx 1pm Sunday afternoon two police cruisers pulled into the parking for an unrelated matter. 2 vehicles were parked in their lot with NO plates. He also told us if we come back there is only 2 safe hotels in Barrie, and This was not one of them. Use at your own risk .
