this resort is an older building, but well kept and very clean. The pool was closed due to Covid. We chose the 2 bedroom suite with full kitchen. It was very roomy with lots of closet space in the bedrooms. The bathroom counter was nice and large, the shower strength was good. Lots of hot water. The tap in the bathroom sink should be changed, it was hard to regulate the amount of water you got. The staff were excellent and super friendly. Due to Covid there was no in-room cleaning, but we could exchange towels as often as needed. There is AC in the bedrooms, but not in the common area. There are no screens on the windows. There are several BBQ's on the property to use, and they looked brand new.
We were lakefront view which is nice. On the ground floor we also had outside space with a picnic table. The downside is noise. Lakeshore is a very busy street and people drive up and down all evening until around 9:30. Lots of very loud cars, music, motor bikes, etc.
Smoking is not permitted inside, but is outside. I found that still too close to me. One guest was cigar smoker. I had to go inside each time...…
Kitchen accessories are minimal, but adequate. We brought some extras of our own as we had done this before.
The beach is big with lots of trees for shade. We had to remind a few people to keep the safe distance of 6 feet from us.
The area is quite walkable with a nice promenade between the beach and Lakeshore.
The best part - the ice cream store on site.

I’ve stayed here many times over the last 12 years. Missed coming to Penticton for the last couple years however so I was surprised to see different owners. Still a good stay though. It’s so close to everything and right across from the beach. I noticed the outside seemed less maintained though but that was it. The convenience store is now just ice cream but hey who doesn’t like ice cream and they always have so many flavours.. I do have 1 complaint though. The morning I was to check out I decided it would be nice to stay an extra night. I Went into the front office around 9 am and requested an extra night which was approved by the front desk lady. Went about my day with my friends only to get asked very rudely by a worker “you know it’s 4 pm and check out is 11 am right?”. To which I replied that I had extended my stay and reminded him that he was in the office when I requested it. He went on to say he was not in the office when I went in there (which he was because I said good morning and had wondered why he didn’t say it back). He then went on a rant telling me how his cleaners were going to strip the room because I was supposed to be gone...to which I explained that I had talked to the cleaner that morning that I’d only need towels...So I told him I’d straighten it out with the front desk. He walked away in a huff as though I had done something wrong. I walked away totally confused as to why this guy was so rude and condescending when I was not rude to him AND I wasn’t the one who made the mistake. As soon as I walked into the front office the clerk remembered me coming in in the morning and apologized for the mix up...mistake happen no big deal ...however I would have been receptive to an apology from the worker that was so rude to me. Had he said sorry, I would have left this review in the positives. Maybe he was having a bad day. We all have them, but legit I was hugging my friend’s goodbye, as they were not staying an extra night, and he walks right up to us and rains on my happy little parade lol!

We have loved this motel over past years. Our last stay was very disappointing. The rooms are tired and worn out. Some of the furniture is stained and just looks plain dirty. Work needs to be done to bring the shine back to the Golden Sands .
