Large, rambling hotel you need a map for!

Staying in Banff, we were hoping for a room with a view but ended up with a view of a yard quadrant serviced by local restaurants. We should have suspected there would be noise when we saw ear plugs were laid out at the bedside. Having said that, the staff were lovely and the breakfast buffet had a wide range of hot and continental with lovely home-baked pastries (sweet and savoury). As Autumn was approaching, it was nice to have fresh oatmeal each morning. It was a little confusing working out the layout of the hotel but as long as you follow the signage, you won't get too lost!
Banff is so busy, we had to pay for parking but it wasn't too expensive, and being in the centre of town, it is well placed for good eateries.
The visitor centre was worth a look as they gave us important advice for walks and staying safe from wildlife - its easy and affordable to hire bear spray, so please do it (we heard of a fatal attack just a few days later in a neighbouring county).
To view black bears and elk safely, drive out at dusk to the golf course!

This is a great place to stay in the middle of everything Banff has to offer. The staff are super friendly and helpful and the rooms comfortable and clean. The breakfast was complimentary and perfectly adequate. I was surprised that parking wasn’t included in the room rate but it was reasonable for Banff.

Quite a basic hotel but clean. Has a rustic feel about it
Staff very helpful
Breakfast was included but again very basic
Also very small breakfast area so at certain times you would have to queue for a table
Good location right in the centre of Banff

We stayed here for 3 nights in September. Overall hotel was OK. Parking was $12 a night which is good for Banff. The location is fantastic and in walking distance to everything.

We upgraded to a loft suite which was OK. The room didn’t have a main light and instead had lamps which wasn’t ideal in the middle of the night if you needed light to go downstairs. There isn’t any AC and the room could get very warm and stuffy very quick. The ceiling fan was full of dust which circulated around the room when turned on.

Room had fridge and safe. Bathroom amenities were OK and plenty of towels and bathrobes.

Breakfast was good with options of cereals, pastries, bagels, eggs, fruit Etc

Overall I would recommend for location but think hotel could do with an update.

Room tip: Parking is to the right of the hotel- you need to get a swipe card from reception ok check in to access parking lot

First, rooms have no A/C. We lucked out staying the 1st week of Sept and the weather was mild to cool so we did not need A/C. In fact we had to run the heat at night and it worked perfectly. We opted for a Deluxe King room since we stayed 8 nights; it was enough room for 2 adults with enough storage & space for all our things. Everything was clean and worked except the bathroom door rubbed the frame that made a loud screeching noise every time you closed it. The next morning we told the front desk and that night when we came home it was fixed! Don’t know how they did it so fast but we were extremely grateful. Comfortable bed & linens. The bathroom was adequate and we appreciated the Jacuzzi tub. Mini fridge was plenty large for our supplies and leftovers. Our room on the 2nd floor next to the elevator was quiet; never heard folks in rooms or the elevator. Our room also opened to a shared patio that was very nice and quiet. Housekeeping was hit or miss; some days towels were not fully replenished and/or tea was not restocked but it was the exception not the norm. The free breakfast was adequate; when we got there early every morning it was fully stocked with plenty of places to sit. It’s the same menu every day but we were able to make the best of it and get some variety. We paid for the onsite underground parking and it was well worth the extra expense as parking is expensive in Banff. It’s a tight squeeze but if you go slow and are careful, you should be OK (unless you drive a Hummer). The hotel is in a great location in the heart of it all. Tons of places to eat within 1 block of the hotel. Can’t recommend in the summer because no A/C but if you go during cool/cold weather, it’s recommended.

Not a cheap option but nowhere centrally located in Banff is. We had a room on the 3rd floor with a mezzanine. There was a lack of lighting overall especially considering the stairs from the bed to the bathroom for those nighttime visits which are becoming more frequent as we age! Nice spacious room overlooking the street and eating places opposite. Earplugs were supplied but the hotel and room were very quiet. Paid parking underground is available and a decent breakfast with selection of cereal, fruit, yoghurt, bread, pastries and a couple of hot items. All in all a conveniently located, comfortable hotel.
