The Banff Rocky Mountain Resort garners mixed reviews, with guests praising its tranquil location near main attractions and pet-friendly policy, but many are dissatisfied with its overall upkeep. While the fireplaces are a hit, reviewers often criticize the resort for its uncleanliness and poorly maintained rooms. The service quality is hit-or-miss, with some staff members being friendly and others unresponsive. Additionally, the dated atmosphere and lack of value for money leave guests feeling the resort falls short of expectations.

My family and I have been coming here annually for the last 15+years. This year we were in a regular two bedroom condo not the wolf room and wow, what a difference but in a bad way. The room was musty, the furniture was old and bulky (didn’t really fit the space) and it looks the exact same from when we used to stay in the non- renovated rooms, meaning nothing has changed for 15 years. When we arrived we took Lysol wipes to wipe down everything as an extra precaution and I’m glad we did - some surfaces were sooo dusty which I’m guessing was because no one had stayed there for a long time. We will keep coming back annually but I really hope the rest of the rooms get renovated or at least change out the furniture. Things we continue to love about it - the location, the kitchen is stocked with everything you may need, the pool and out door hot tub (although both could use some TLC) and the restaurant.

Checked in early evening after a day of skiing. Staff checking in was very pleasant and helpful. The main building is where the front desk, pool, fitness room and a small dining area are located. Our 2 room condo suite was located across the road from the main building. Parking is a bit sparse so it was a bit of a challenge to find a spot close to the condo block we were located in. That was true for the weekend.

The suite was stocked with anything needed in the kitchen for utensils and cleaning items. A call to the main office brought someone with conditioner over as there wasn't any in the bathroom; and that person was also able to get the TV in the main room working. The suite itself is set up with both bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, the kitchen area, a small dining area and a small sitting area with the one TV downstairs. There was another suite on the ground level under ours.
The property needs updating in many areas. The bathroom upstairs has at one time had some other attachment on the wall which was not there anymore, but the holes with the screw anchors were still there. The carpet was worn throughout (though this is a pet friendly facility so maybe that contributed. We didn't have our dogs with us this trip.).The wall paper on the stairs was coming away. As we were using the pull out couch, it would have been good to have blankets. I would think these would be available if we had called over to request them, but my son had brought his own.
We did not eat in the small dining room so I can't comment on that. The pool area we used at the end of the day. There's an indoor pool and hot tub as well as a hot tub outside. Both were adequate, though again could use some upkeep as there were lights outside that weren't on, and the siding was coming away in one area by the outdoor hot tub. The pool area was crowded and loud as there quite a few children there, which is fine but just to say, the area is very echo-y. There weren't any towels in the pool area when I first went to get some, but the staff did bring a bunch quickly. I can't speak for the men's change room, but the women's is small and really needed the foor cleaned at the end of the night when we were chaging.
The property is some ways from town itself and so if you don't have a car you will be waiting for the bus which looked like it came every hour.Because it's not quite in town, it's very quite if you are wnting that. But if you want to be able to walk to restaurants, shopping and so on, you will want to choose a place in town. For the price of this stay for just the 1 night, I would have chosen something in town. If we had been staying longer and I had wanted to cook meals (to save money as eating in Banff can be quite expensive), I would consider this place.

The location is a couple of kilometers outside the central Banff hotel area. That is good because, you have ample parking, and the resort has plenty of space. The log buildings house at least 4 condo apartments. The one bedroom has a kitchen with dishwasher and range and a complete complement of utensils which comes in handy for families with kids or people with dietary restrictions.
We were booked for 4 nights and so it was imperative that we discuss housekeeping and garbage pickup and towel and coffee / tea replacements and at least in our case the management felt lacking on this count.
It is COVID time and we understand the limitations on establishments.
I could not but help getting a nagging feeling that the management was using the lack of housekeeping to their advantage.
For starters, they could have easily arranged a cart to bring in fresh towels and another cart could be brought by to pick up used ones.
The large, community garbage bins should have been emptied frequently, guests had to drop off the recycling and the organic garbage in communal bins that were bursting with garbage.
Cleanliness, being used to sanitizing hotel rooms, I found that my Lysol wipes came in oily yellow when we sanitized the kitchen tops. Just sayin...
The actual toilet inside was not clean by any standard whatsoever. I have seen gas station toilets much cleaner.
Hotels have to come up with a solution to making beds on a daily basis. Do you seriously expect guest to make up their beds? OK then do not charge full price from day 2 onwards.

We had a terrible two night stay here last weekend. We first booked their premium 2 bedroom suite - we had friends joining us though and they could only get one of the 2 bedroom condos, so the hotel was gracious enough to move us next door to them. Here’s where our issue lays: the room we reserved was substantially more expensive than the older, rundown condos and the hotel refused to give us a price adjustment, claiming the rooms were the same price. We knew this was untrue because 1) the reservation line had told us the two different prices previously; 2) the front desk admitted to our friends that the room we initially booked was more expensive; and 3) we knew how much our friends were paying who booked on the same day, same room/dates. In addition to being steadfast on making us overpay for the condo, it was filthy and completely rundown. The dishes had food on them, there were hairs on our towels, the bedrooms were tiny with double beds that barely fit (NOT queens like it says online). At the end of a crappy visit (which we had already complained to them about), they wouldn’t even extend our checkout time to 12:30 when I called without a $40 charge. They finally adjusted our rate slightly - giving us 10% one night and allegedly the second night too, even though the invoice didn’t reflect this in any way and the front desk staff couldn’t explain why beyond assuring us it was discounted. Not worth the price! Pay a bit more to stay somewhere nicer with a better location and staff - sister property the Moose was amazing!

We enjoyed our stay in a 2BR Wolf unit - it cost an extra $30/day and definitely seemed worth it based on some of the other reviews I have read. The unit was clean and well equipped except not enough bowls and no sharp knives in the kitchen. The walking trails in the area are well maintained and beautiful and there are even some that start at the edge of the resort property. We had not been at this resort for about 15 years and it seemed as though the grounds have been well maintained.

Only book a single bedroom Unit that supposedly sleeps 4x people if its 2x Adults with 2x Small Children or 2x Adults with 1x additional Adult or Adolescent or else you will need to pay for an room upgrade.
Otherwise, quite happy with the stay and friendly staff. I love that they are pet friendly. Recommend bringing a bike as the Resort is a fair distance from town but right on a bike path.

We stayed in the two bedroom wolf condo (king and queen bed). We had two medium dogs and my mother in tow and had a great stay. I was a bit concerned about my reservation after reading the not so favourable reviews but we were pleasantly surprised. We were going to travel with 5 adults and 3 dogs initially, and this condo was spacious enough to accommodate everyone. With three adults and two medium dogs (30 lbs), two bedrooms and two bathrooms, it was the perfect size for our comfort level. Our rooms and bathrooms were clean and our full kitchen had everything we needed including a dishwasher and microwave. The only reason I gave our stay 4 stars, is because the rooms could be updated for the price of the stay($$). We also had supper and breakfast at their restaurant which taste great. They provided a water dish for our dogs where the patio is pet friendly as well. At check in, they provided pamphlets for pet friendly information which was awesome and even gave us complimentary dog beds to use. They do provide treats and dog dishes if needed. The resort is very close to downtown Banff and all amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the staff were great!

I had low expectations after reading the reviews but it was a bit better than I expected. We stayed in this location because friends were here and we took family skiing to Lake Louise and Sunshine.

We had a one bedroom wolf condo, used a coupon I found online to get 25% off making it $189 weekdays. It was a very tiny suite. Kitchen was missing many items but when we called front desk they quickly replaced it.

The outdoor hot tub area was very filthy with dead flies sitting there for 5 days before cleaned. Small hot tub.

Our pull out couch was stained and couch mattress was stained. In fact the sofa mattress was covered in food bits and we called for another mattress cover as it was dirty too. That was the dirtiest part of our suite.
The Queen bed mattress in the bedroom also felt old and bumpy. Very little storage in the suite.

The complex is run down. The suites were not well maintained nor are the grounds

The front desk staff and maintenance staff were very pleasant.

We cleaned our whole suite before we settled in, we could have used a vacuum. No one came by to offer to get our garbage or towels.

It was a 6 min drive into Banff. Or an hour walk with a large portion on highway. Parking lot got very full and it was hard to find a spot at night. Our suite on main floor was incredibly noisy when upstairs neighbors moved in. The noise was unbearable and I'm sure they were trying to be quiet. Lucky they kept similar hours to us.

There was not a shuttle available into town. Lake Louise will pick up skiers from this location.

We would not stay here again. Next year we will try Canmore it had more options available. Or at least stay in downtown Banff without a kitchen for a similar price but with cleaner accomodation and better beds.

This place just needs a few small upgrades. The hide-a-bed sofa, chair and even the dining room chairs are worn out and uncomfortable. We stayed in a two bedroom and the bedrooms are like shoeboxes, just enough room for you to walk around the bed. The beds were a little hard and the bedding provided was odd, almost like newspaper, very loud, crinkly. The carpet is also rolling up in the bedrooms. I would be upset if this was my yearly RCI destination. No air-conditioning, but one small fan is available lol. Had to sleep with windows open to keep it cool and could hear traffic, trains, the neighbours etc. Good thing we packed earplugs, drunk neighbour singing to himself outside for hours. I was also disappointed with the lack of outdoor patio space to enjoy. Two chairs facing the parking lot and the next building. Even in the common bbq area, it only has picnic tables. The kitchen is nice to have, but they could provide more towels for it. I'm not sure if the cleaning staff clean all the dishes before the next guest, but I didn't take my chances. Didn't bother with the pool since it was across the street and had covid restrictions.

We bought a timeshare at BRMR 30 years ago, spent every year coming here several times with our 3 daughters
It was a great place to spend our vacations. Close to home and affordable.
In the last few years, we have come on an exchange with another timeshare we have. One of our daughters lives in Banff now, so we come to Banff more.
We came in February 2022 and stayed in a one bedroom and again here now in a two bedroom
We noticed so many things wrong!!!
years ago, we paid a large amount of money for a maintenance upgrade, we were told when we come, we can get un upgraded unit. we did not. asked a front desk about a better unit, any he said "no, you're a timeshare owner, you can't stay in an upgraded unit"
we moved the couch and there was a big hole in the floor
The weather was above 0, so the snow was melting, water dripping from eavestroughs onto sidewalks, then very icy at night, the roads were very icy and dangerous to walk on.
Went to the outdoor hug tub, and it had a disgusting ring of dirt along the tub.
broken clock that was there years ago, still has fixture hanging
Ice and snow were dropping into the hot tub, another guest, told us how a large icicle hit his head.
Went to the gym, equipment is in terrible shape, never been replaced in over 30 years, I thought I'd break the treadmill and elliptical while I was on it.
Outdoor BBQ by the pool didn't light very well, one of three barbequess worked, took a long time to cook, no lighter or BBQ brush
no fire place tools,
no oven mitts in kitchen
no extra garbage bags,
stove burners don't work well, push coil burners in, heat for 5 minutes
dish soap in watered down
we have complained to front desk and manager and they just came up with excuses, and asked if we called front desk when we needed items.
we shouldn't have to complain everyday about something.
very poor customer service, they don't care
