Helpful staff, but the accommodation needs investment

We did enjoy our one-week stay in a Deluxe One Bedroom plus Loft Condo (4 guests), and the setting was lovely, but the pros came with quite a few cons.

The accommodation is not cheap, and we expected better for the price. With four adults (and noting that there were three double beds plus a sofa bed), one shower was inadequate, and there would be space to fit a shower in the loft area. The kitchen area was small and not very well equipped. No instructions were provided. The living room was rather dingey and very poorly lit. The sofa was tired and uncomfortable. Pillows need replacing. Towels thin and rather small. Parking a free-for-all, and you could end up parked a long way from the apartment.

All of this could easily be improved with a bit of proper investment: the complex shouldn’t rest on its laurels, and owes its clients to improve the facilities.

On the plus side, the staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful, and when (for example) we needed more kitchen equipment, this arrived very quickly. The views are great, lovely walks nearby, and a good bus service down into town (rather a trek on foot). Hot tub and plunge pool delightful, especially if you like swimming (or rather splashing around) with a mountain view. We didn’t use the barbecue areas, but they looked good. The impression on arrival was pleasing and rustic, even if it didn’t all quite live up to appearances.

So, management, you’ve got a great asset and a dedicated staff team. Do accept the challenge and put some money into making this the superlative resort it deserves to be!

Thank you for sharing your feedback. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the week with us overall! Whilst our deluxe one bedroom and loft condos do only have 1 full bathroom and a secondary half bathroom, we do have other condos such as our premier two bedroom and loft condo (also with 3 queens and a pull-out couch) that have two full bathrooms and 3 private bedrooms which allows guests more space and facilities within the room, which may have been more preferably for your party. We are always happy to discuss upgrade options if available to ensure guests do have a condo that accommodates all their needs or our front desk team are also available via our phone line 24/7 to advise on room types prior to booking. I apologize that the kitchen was poorly equipped, towels were thin and sofa was tired. Please be assured I will pass this feedback on to our housekeeping team to ensure any older towels are removed from inventory, kitchen supplies are checked between each guest and sofas or pillows are treated or replaced if necessary! I will also ensure our maintenance team are regularly inspecting rooms when vacant so we can change any lights necessary and spot any other concerns prior to a guest checking in. I am delighted to hear that our front desk team were approachable and quick to assist and will be sure to share this feedback with the team. We are also glad to hear you utilized the other services on site such as our hot-tub and pools and complimentary bus tickets! We do appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to improve for our future guests!

Not sure where to start with this review as unfortunately there were so many bad points to record.
Firstly the resort is not close to Downtown but involves a good 15 minute walk downhill.
Good luck with the return !
As for the views of the Rockies ,well they were there somewhere through the trailer park and trees and the huge trucks parked immediately in front of the lounge area of our room.
The accommodation was dark, dusty with aged and stained furnishings and appliances that were most likely installed when the site was opened and included worn towels .
The whole site has a tired and run down feel and we had to share with several hen and stag parties.
The booking was made as part of a longer tour of The Rockies so I’m not sure of the rate charged but I shall be making a formal complaint to my tour operator upon my return home.
Unless improvements are made I don’t think this should be included on any Banff itinerary .
I did register my concerns upon departure but with limited hope that these would be taken on board.
I generally like to accentuate the positive when leaving a review as I understand people’s views on what’s good and bad differ but reading the other reviews on Hidden Ridge I don’t think I’m in the minority.
The only positive I can mention is the service from the front desk staff who were helpful and efficient.

Thank you for the review. I am very disappointed to hear of the negative aspects of your stay but glad to hear that our front desk team were a positive! We are indeed located about a 15 minute walk from downtown - this is often an appeal of the resort to escape the hustle and bustle of downtown but we do also offer complimentary bus tickets for the local transit if guests would prefer not to walk. Whilst our property is surrounded by mountains, the only condos that we guarantee a mountain view for are a premier king jacuzzi suites situated above the lobby as these are the only condos with unobstructed views. I do apologize that the condo felt dark, dusty and worn. Whilst we are an older property, we do strive to upkeep the condos to a high standard so I apologize that your condo did not reflect this. I will share your feedback with our housekeeping manager to ensure any worn towels or linen are taken out of circulation and ensure any stained furnishings are removed from rooms or treated before guests check-in to prevent anyone having the same experience. I do wish I had been aware of your disappointments during your stay with us so we could have discussed alternate condos or sister properties closer to town to ensure that you had the vacation you had envisioned.

We chose hidden ridge for a girls trip this past weekend. I’ve never stayed at a resort with a
Free for all style parking. You may have to walk quite far with your luggage to your room. If parking close to your room is important or if you have mobility issues best to stay away from this place. It would make so much more sense to assign the parking spots to each room. If you do choose to stay here. They told us you can get them to reserve a parking space if you call ahead but it’s information that should be availble before you arrive . When we walked into our room it was very old and run down. There was Stains on the carpet and spots on the room. I would say a plus was there bed was comfortable. We visited the hot pool and hot tub it was also very fun down and over crowded. Definitely stay somewhere else if your looking for good value for your money.

Room tip: Reserve your parking before you come.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. With regards to our parking, we do realize that it can lead to frustrations during busy peak periods as all our parking is unassigned and I apologize that this so negatively impacted your stay. We have looked at alternatives but unfortunately every scenario has its positive and negative aspects. If we introduced assigned parking then patrolling and enforcement can become a major obstacle and it could lead to parking fines and even vehicle towing. Obviously this may have an even more negative guest experience than what we currently have. We do have two underground parkades onsite too and if we were too pre-assign spaces, we would not be able to offer the same proximity to all condos, which would also not be fair and many oversized vehicles are unable to fit in these areas as-well. We are always more than happy to assist with any luggage handling to ease this inconvenience! Please note, we are only able to reserve spaces prior to arrival for guests with mobility issues. I am disappointed that overall you did not feel the condo reflected the value given as we do always strive to uphold the highest standards within our accommodations despite being an older property.

The hot tubs are excellent with amazing views. Also nice that they provide bus passes.

However the rooms are in need of a Reno. They are very dated and dirty. Hair all over the floor and on soap dispenser, some gross thing in the tub, can of cigarette butts on the balcony. It’s also so unsanitary that they refill & reuse soap & lotion dispensers.

Lots of partying & drinking even in the pool area.

Lastly, our smoke alarm was constantly going off as fireplace would not properly vent the smoke. Thankfully they moved us to another room on night 2.

Thank you for your review! I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the pools and other amenities we offer here at the resort! Whilst we are an older property, we do pride ourselves on providing well maintained and clean condos so I am disappointed that your stay did not reflect this. Please be assured I will share your feedback with our housekeeping management team to ensure these oversights do not re-occur for future guests. Alongside the Town of Banff, we are striving to remove single use items throughout our property and using dispensers that are re-fillable significantly reduces our waste production however these items should all still be cleaned when re-filling so I apologize if this was missed and was why it felt unsanitary. I am glad that we could provide alternate accommodation due to the smoke issues in your room - please be assured our guest's safety is our upmost priority and any reports of concerns regarding our fireplaces are fully investigated by our maintenance team before another guest occupies the room to ensure everything is checked thoroughly. I do hope that the second room was of a higher standard for the remainder of your visit and that we have the opportunity in the future to welcome you back and show you that this experience does not reflect the usual standards of our resort!

After reading a few less than exemplary recent reviews, we were a bit hesitant to book our stay here. However, SO glad we did! Everything was exceptional. We had a one bedroom suite which was very well outfitted from kitchen items to extra bedding and bathroom supplies. There is a functional fireplace with complimentary firewood! They even had a dog toy and treat for our furry babies. The unit itself was spotless- clean appliances and fridge, felt as though we were the first ones to use many of the items. The beds were very comfortable and there’s a tv in both the living area and bedroom which is convenient.
We purchased a s’mores kit which was a nice option and made for a cozy, memorable evening for the kids The location is mins to downtown and being situated higher up there are exceptional views from the room and pool/hot tub area! The surroundings are quiet and lush. The pool area is such a treat! Gas fireplace and lots of seating and we were able to use both the warm pool and hot tub.
There’s complimentary water/coffee/tea/hot choc. In the lobby which is a nice touch to have while at the pool. Tremendous surroundings overall. We will 100% be staying here again!

The experience at the front desk was great. We were given bus passes for the 3 days we were here!
Our room though! Can you say gross and outdated!
There was dust, mildew and we are pretty sure there is mold in the room. My husband builds for a living and know the signs. I am currently so stuffed up with whatever is in the room. The cleaning they provide is minimal. I have stayed in dog friendly hotels before and this is by far the worst ever. There was dog hair everywhere. The carpets are musty and rarely vacuumed. The last time this place was likely dusted was the 2000’s. There is extensive damage to the walls. The bathroom fans are caked in dust, dirt and it’s grimy.
Bed sheets seemed to clean though.
At 364 a night you would expect better. Run from this place.
Excited to go home tomorrow and wash my clothes and my body and hopefully start feeling better.

Thank you for your review and raising these concerns with me on check out yesterday. I do apologize again for disappointing experience. As you mentioned, you have stayed before and know these are not the standards we uphold so I apologize that we fell short this time around. Our management team did go to your room after check out to ensure there was no mold present and that the room was deep cleaned so these issues do not re-occur for future guests. As I mentioned yesterday, I do wish you had let us know of these issues during your stay so that we could have provided alternate accommodation to ensure you were comfortable and could have enjoyed your stay but I am glad that we were able to speak on check out and rectify the situation. We do hope we can welcome you back and show that this experience is not true to our standards.
