Review of Charltons Banff
Reviewed Sep 16, 2021via mobile
My husband and I stayed for an extended weekend (four nights) and found it to be just right for our needs and budget. Easy to get to all the shops and restaurants while far enough to be quiet when we needed a rest. The pool and hot tub area are very pleasant and relaxing.
Date of stay: September 2021
Room Tip: Rooms beside the stairs can be a little less quiet when people are coming/going
Trip type: Travelled as a couple

Don't hesitate to stay here, we had a loft room and it was great. Very comfortable bed, good shower pressure, well kept and clean room. We were able to also book ourselves into the pool for the 30 min timeslot, and we also enjoyed that. Very friendly front desk staff. Overall we were very pleased and definitely recommend this hotel!

We booked Charltons as every other hotel in Banff was either fully booked or charging exuberant prices!
We booked the deluxe room with a mountain view.
We were pleasantly surprised!!
It was a huge room, clean and modern!
Great mountain views and the windows have electric blinds
Very polite and friendly staff, parking can be a bit tight/ we do drive a truck, however the kind gentleman at reception allowed us to park up in front of the hotel- which was well appreciated as we have a baby!
The only reason why I have not given the hotel 5 stars- is the poor service from the restaurant- Evergreen.
We ordered breakfast ( Room service) in the morning - and after an hour we hadn’t received it, only to be told that the restaurant tried phoning us to ask us how we would like our eggs!! We received no such phone call. After another 30 min- we were told that someone tried to deliver our food but no one was in the room, and we had the same excuse again after another 30 min of waiting!!!
We finally gave up and drive down town!! They wasted 2 hours of our time, which I can never get back!!!
Such poor service has definitely let down the hotel!!!!

We arrived yesterday for our 3 night stay and I wish we had booked another hotel especially for the price we paid. Dirty rooms - I ran my finger over the side table and it was full of dust so it was obviously not cleaned properly. We tried to nap in the evening after a long day of driving and couldn't as the walls are paper thin and we could hear our neighbours repetively slamming the water taps on and off and dragging chair noises for over half an hour. Honestly the photos they posted online for the room were a lottt nicer than what we got in person. Online they are renovated and modern and in person its like a roadside motel. My boyfriend and I are not impressed and upon making a complaint at the front desk we recived a free drink coupon to make up for our bad experience. Wow. Overall I would not recommend this hotel and am excited to leave.

This is an older hotel, but has been maintained well and modernized. We used to call this type a motor hotel - it is raised up so cars can park underneath at ground level, while most of the rooms are up stairs to 2nd and 3rd floors. There is an elevator for those who may need. The all cedar log construction gives it a rustic look.
Our room was on the main floor at the back, away from traffic noise. Two queen beds. A huge modern bathroom with both a tub and shower. Flat screen TV with cable channels.
With the COVID19 panic-epeic, there was no daily housekeeping. But not a concern for us.
Breakfast is included but had to walk half a block to sister hotel’s restaurant. Fixed meal of croissant, bacon, fruit cup and choice of e3gg style - quite adequate.
Only a few blocks walk along Banff Ave to downtown shops and restaurants.

We stayed at charlton’s for one night. We had a one king bed loft. The bedroom in up a spiral staircase with a king bed and large tv. The lower level had a sofa bed, tv , fridge and bathroom. We really enjoyed the room. The only negative was going down the stairs at night to go to the bathroom. Breakfast was included at the Canadian lodge a block away. Breakfast had 2 eggs, bacon, fruit, yogurt and croissant with coffee. It was very good and friendly service.
